While I will still flip the bird in photos over a peace sign any day, so much else has changed over the past 20 years since this picture was taken, by a hand held kodak, not a mobile phone! I've made new friends and lost old ones, I've been married and divorced. I'm lucky enough to have found a wonderful man and best friend to share my life wi...th and I've swapped partying hard for early morning surfs. I've also found out the importance of a healthy body, which also means a healthy mind. I experienced adrenal fatigue, gut health issues, anxiety and skin allergies after going through an extended period of stress due to a traumatic divorce. 14.01.2022 I often reflect on the quote made famous by John Lennon that life is what happens when you’re busy making other plans, because it quintessentially sums up my life experience. There are times when I struggle with myself, when I want to let life’s disappointments and tragedies break me down, while comparing myself to other people around me that seem to have this seemingly hurdle free existence. Instead, I stumble through life, tripping often and picking myself up covered i...n bruises, both mentally and physically, determined that these hurdles will not conquer my spirit. But those times when I most feel like giving in to self-doubt and disappointment, I reflect on the difficulties experienced by my younger brother Gerard, who has epilepsy and cerebral palsy as a result of malpractice at birth. He will never walk or talk, things I take for granted. It’s important when we think our lives are hard and hurdles too great to overcome, that we stop and look at what others around us go through in life just to enjoy some of the experiences we often take for granted.
