25.01.2022 Before You Float - Float Tips **save this post to read before your next float ** you don’t need to bring anything with you except maybe a hairbrush ... avoid stimulants like coffee or alcohol before your float don’t shave or wax the day of your float - the salt will sting have a small, high protein meal an hour before your float. put the earplugs in before you shower - they will stick in better that way always shower before you get into the float pod or pool to wash off any oils or sand in your feet cover any cuts or grazes in the Vaseline provided we suggest you float naked but if you don’t feel comfortable or are floating with a friend you can wear bathers floating with your arms in the cactus position rolls your shoulders back, relaxes your neck and opens up your chest. 22.01.2022 When I tried my first float I was unsure and I had SO many silly questions. Like: could I safely fall asleep (the answer is yes!) ... what do I actually do in the float tank? Do I just lie there? What am I supposed to think about? Where do I put my arms? I’ve got to be honest, I didn't love my first float My husband raved about his, but I still needed a little convincing. When I went back for my second float I asked if I could listen to a meditation. I’m not sure if it played the whole 60 mins or not because after 10 mins my mind was so relaxed I floated off into a lovely dream world only to be awoken in a blissful state as the session ended. I was hooked I want to take you to this sweet state of bliss too, so thats why i'm creating a series of meditations and soundscapes for you to listen to while floating. Keen? 11.01.2022 Do you tell yourself you unable to ‘switch off’? One of the biggest misconceptions with meditation and floatation therapy is that you need to ‘switch off’ your thoughts in order to get the most out of the experience. Customers often come out of the float pod saying:... ‘it was good but I couldn’t switch off’ relatable!? Let me tell you a wee secret - Your mind is a radiant, brilliant, amazing thing But - THERE IS NO SWITCH OFF BUTTON!!! Even the most experience Buddhist monk does not ‘switch off’ during meditation. Instead they: observe their thoughts control their thoughts instead of their thoughts controlling them bring their thoughts away from the past and future into the present become aware of their thoughts, allowing them to exist without taking action maintain a healthy relationship with their thoughts The point is to: acknowledge the thought Notice that it came up inwardly nod and think ‘that’s interesting that I’m thinking that thought’ Of course the float tank is a great too for contemplating and creative thoughts too. 08.01.2022 We're reopening on Saturday!!! BUT with a few temporary extra safe measures in place until the 14th Feb. Please have your mask on before you enter the building. ... Yes, you have to wear a mask in class. Yes, you have to wear a mask whilst getting a massage. If you are in a sauna room or float room you can take your mask off but only once staff have left and the door is closed. For the next week you can only bring a plus one to your sauna appointment if it is someone already in your bubble like a family member or housemate. When you enter the building please scan the QR code to check in, sanitise your hands and let a member of staff check your temperature. Class numbers are reduced to 10 to keep with the 4SQM rule and mats have been laid out appropriately. Please don't move the position of the mats. Please bring a towel to class We would prefer it if you brought your own equipment to class. There will be no tea available Please stay home and reschedule if you are sick. It will feel strange but its only for the next 8 days. If you feel uncomfortable with any of the temporary rules, please reschedule to next week. 07.01.2022 Floating for pain relief here are 5 reasons flotation therapy may be beneficial to you: INCREASED CIRCULATION & HEALING... As you float in the magnesium Epsom salt, your muscles are able to relax and unclench. This improves blood circulation to the tissues and muscles. With increased blood circulation comes better healing powers, allowing torn muscle fibers to repair themselves. This healing can provide long-lasting relief from back pain, even after youve left the float tank. DECREASE IN OVERSTIMULATION OF THE NERVOUS SYSTEM Because floating allows for full sensory deprivation, you can spend your time in the float tank simply relaxing. Many people fall into a deep meditative state, or even fall asleep. For those suffering from chronic back pain, this relaxation is unlike any theyre able to feel at home in bed or sitting in a chair. With relaxation comes a decrease in cortisol production, a hormone that causes the nervous system to go into overdrive. When theres less cortisol, the nervous system can calm down, allowing for a decrease in feelings of pain. INCREASED ENDORPHIN PRODUCTION Back pain can impact all aspects of your life, and limitations on what activities you can participate in can lead to feelings of stress, depression, and anger. Relaxing in a float tank allows for the production of endorphins, the happy chemicals produced by the brain. Production of endorphins has been shown to decrease symptoms in those suffering from depressive disorders. Endorphins also promote well-being and have been known to dull pain responses. DECREASED PRESSURE ON JOINTS & BONES When floating, you are weightless in the float tank. This frees your body from the weight of gravity, taking pressure off of your back, muscles and joints. Spending time without the weight of gravity allows you to begin putting your back and shoulders into healthier, wellness-promoting positions that you may be able to carry over into the rest of your life, easing pain in your back. INCREASED MAGNESIUM ABSORPTION Magnesium, one of the two main components of Epsom salt, provides many benefits to the human body. Some of the key benefits for those suffering from chronic back pain include anti-inflammatory properties and nervous system regulation. Certain types of back pain can result from inflamed muscles and tissues, and magnesiums anti-inflammatory characteristics can decrease this inflammation and decrease pain. As discussed above, the nervous system can go into overdrive when pain is present. Increasing your magnesium absorption through floating can help regulate the function of your nervous system and, in turn, decrease any pain you may feel. 07.01.2022 Studio Classes commence Monday 18th May Bookings are available now! For at least the next two months, Clear Mind Studio will not be the same as you know and love. We have put in place extra cleaning measures and new rules. ... Please arrive to your class no earlier than 5 minutes before. Please use the hand sanitiser at reception when you arrive and leave. When within our building, you must remain 1.5m away from all other people. Please be mindful of this when at reception or sitting in the lounge or in class. Tea and water facilities will no longer be available. All classes MUST be booked in advance online and all classes and appointments must be paid online in advance. This is essential for two reasons: 1. as there are limited numbers in class, wed hate for you to be disappointed. 2. To prevent crowding at reception between classes. All students to bring own yoga/ Pilates equipment including mats, belts, blocks and bolsters. There will be no studio equipment available. If you dont have your own, please contact us and we can see how we can help you. There will be no physical assists or corrections in class. There will be no showers available for class students. Please stay home if you feel unwell or are showing symptoms. Please dont be offended if you appear unwell/ have symptoms and a staff member asks you to leave. We hope you understand the reason for these rules and that this wont be Clear Mind as you know it, but a temporary version. We look forward to getting back to normal in the future and we thank you for your compliance with our new rules.

06.01.2022 I’ve had a pretty stressful week, so I’m off for a float tonight. When your mind gets a chance to relax in the float tank this causes an increase in the happy hormones of serotonin and dopamine, as well as a decrease in the stress hormones of adrenaline and cortisol. Your body will go into a ‘rest and digest’ state and you will feel relaxed, balanced, happy, and less stressed. ... Overtime, with regular floats, research shows you will notice an improvement in sleep and feel in a consistent and blissful state of calm. When was the last time you went for a float?

Last week he left his FIFO job and is back working in the studio! ... The last 6 months have been a very difficult time for us, as they have been for most of us. We’ve all just been trying our best to get by so I thank you for your patience It’s been hard work managing the studio on my own (with Sally & Georgia) as well as doing my own jobs of marketing, social media, emails, stock, events... You’ve probably noticed that I haven’t sent an email in 5 months or organised an event or been overly present on social media.
