24.01.2022 Hey there Clevelanders!! Do you know who this crazy lady is? This is Carmel. Carmel has been a Cleveland Run Director (RD) since 1/10/2016 and if you know Carmel, you will also know she is a parkrun tragic! ... Why I am telling you this? Well, I am extremely pleased to announce, Carmel has also come on board as my Co-Event Director!!! Pretty exciting huh? Although we don't know when parkrun will be returning to QLD, I just wanted to let you know you will be seeing/hearing more from Carmel and maybe a little less from me in the coming months. Please join me in welcoming Carmel her new role as Co-ED. Liv x Co-ED #loveparkrun #community #morethanjustaruninthepark parkrun Australia

23.01.2022 OK Cleveland parkrunners... Let the count down begin! BUT, before we start the count down, you need to dig out your barcodes! If you can't find it, go to your parkrun profile and print it out. Put it in your car, wallet or phone case... Somewhere so you won't forget it on Saturday. No barcode, No results! ... 6 sleeps! 19.01.2022 Dear Cleveland parkrunners, DO YOU MISS parkrun, as much as we do? Tomorrow it's been 6 months since our last parkrun #356 on 14 March 2020 and our Extraordinarily Talented Ella Coop has done us the favour of drawing the attached in our Starting Pavilion.... So, if you miss parkrun as much as we do, please go down to the Pavilion in the next few days and write your name (and the number of parkruns you've completed) and then post a picture in the comments. The chalk for this is buried in the garden behind the big stone in the garden opposite the Pavilion (photo attached). Keeping the parkrun dream alive, Paul Mac RD

19.01.2022 Cleveland (not) parkrun Report Week ending 13 September 2020 #13 This week our numbers bounced back a little bit ... as 17 of our parkrunners avoided being placed on the naughty list. They completed 36 (not) parkruns times between them, with Tarryn posting 7 and Jon 6, exceptional. We stayed well inside the Top 40 of Australian parkruns for this week. We had 3 (not) parkrun First Timers this week. Welcome Wendy, John and Grant to the magic that is (not) parkrun. PBs were recorded by, not 1, but both our Lindas, Gary and Colleen. We've had 38 Cleveland parkrunners complete at least 1 (not) parkrun so far and we've had 33 PBs recorded. The most common names for our (not) parkrunners is Linda, Carmel and Paul with 2 each. Can you help "your name" top these? Please note that we would never, ever name and shame, but our naughty list is getting quite extensive. Keeping the parkrun dream alive, Paul Mac (not) parkrun RD

19.01.2022 DO YOU MISS parkrun UPDATE #2 Dear Cleveland parkrunners, Thank you to everyone who took the time to visit the starting Pavilion, over the past 10 days, to add their names to Ella's artwork.... I was thrilled to bits, this morning, to see how many of you have been down there. As an added bonus I had a chat with John D. and rode past Linda M., that really made my morning ride "special". I removed the chalk from the garden, as it doesn't make the greatest compost. Stay tuned for my next bit of shenanigans. Take care, Paul Mac RD

18.01.2022 We are so close parkrunners!!! From parkrun AU update... Queensland (Qld)... Queensland Health has increased participant limits this week to 1000. Following extensive consultation with the Sport and Recreation Department we have now formally submitted our COVID-19 Framework to the Chief Health Officer, Dr Jeanette Young.

18.01.2022 You might have seen some FB posts or heard some rumours, but we can confirm it's official: parkrun is coming back in Queensland from 28th November (3 weeks' time). Now, we don't know a lot of details of how things will work logistically, so just hold tight with the questions as we find out more from HQ in the very near future. Some things will be slightly different, but it's so exciting to know we're coming back - YAY! Keep any eye out on this page and we'll update you as m...ore information comes to hand. Carmel & Liv Co-EDs

17.01.2022 DO YOU MISS parkrun UPDATE We've buried secret treasure (well secret chalk) for you to use. "X" marks the spot. If you find and use it, would you please bury it again for the next parkrunner to find.... If you can't make it down to the Pavilion please leave a message in the comments with your name and the number of parkruns you've done. Better still add a picture of your smiling face, just so we know you're still out there. Missing you, Paul Mac RD

16.01.2022 2 SLEEPS!!!!! Excited much? As we continue our countdown until parkrunday, here are a few things that will be slightly different:... - Sanitiser will not be provided to participants, to avoid congestion around the sanitiser. Please consider bringing your own for your personal use - While at parkrun, please practice social distancing ie stay 1.5m away from each other where possible. Even if you feel safe closer to others, your caution here will allow others, particularly the vulnerable, to feel safe when attending. - It will be difficult to keep participants 1.5m away from each other at the start. To avoid transmission risk in this time, we will a. Ask people to stay 1m away from each other at the start, b. start promptly to avoid excessive proximity, c. encourage people to seed themselves accordingly ie fasters runners towards the front, walkers towards the back - Scanning of finish tokens and personal barcodes must be entirely contactless and at a distance, with participants holding their own position and personal barcodes, then depositing their position token in a bucket after they have been scanned. One thing that doesn't change is FUN! Whether you walk, jog, run, sprint or anything in between, we want you to have fun and encourage each other again, from a distance of course ;)

07.01.2022 Can you believe this time in 2 weeks I will be loading the car with parkrun gear to set up the course for our re-start?! Before that can happen, I still need 3 more volunteers: 2 x barcode scanners (must bring own device with volunteer app) 1 x photographer to capture this history making event... Our event may look a little different too, kinda like the pic below. Our volunteers won't be coming into contact with anyone's barcode and they will be placed in different locations around the finish line and oval to minimise time in queues. Comment below to help us out... Liv x RD #parkrun #clevelandparkrun

05.01.2022 Cleveland (not) parkrun Report Week ending 20 September 2020 #14 This week 18 of our parkrunners helped Cleveland sneak into the Top 30 of Australian parkruns for this week.... 05.01.2022 Cleveland (not) parkrun Report Week ending 27 September 2020 #15 This week 14 of our parkrunners completed a (not) parkrun.... Welcome to Lindsie (we knew you were out there) as our only First Timer this week. PBs were recorded by Angela, Gary and Robyn. One lucky parkrunner is on the verge of being bestowed with a virtual pair of Jade shoelaces. Who could it be? and will she add to her tally this week? We've had 40 Cleveland parkrunners complete at least 1 (not) parkrun and a total 150 (not) parkruns so far. We've had 38 PBs recorded, but who's counting? Please take care and stay safe, Paul Mac (not) parkrun RD

03.01.2022 parkrun Australia are continuing to work with the Sport and Recreation Department, and the Chief Health Officer Dr Jeannette Young, to determine a practical solution to get Qld parkruns open again. Fingers crossed they can sort it out sooner rather than later. #loveparkrun #community #family #morethanjustaruninthepark

03.01.2022 3 SLEEPS!! We're sure you've all seen this by now, but for those who haven't, please have a read... Liv & Carmel... Co-ED's See more

02.01.2022 5 SLEEPS!! Yes we are back this Saturday and yes it will be a little different. To do our bit in keeping parkrun operating we do have some changes but nothing is too hard so don’t panic. The things you need to be aware of are as follows: - scan into the event using a QR code we will provide the code to scan as soon as available... - it would be really helpful if everyone sanitises their hands BEFORE getting out of your car - we will no longer be able to provide a key bucket as this would be considered high risk due to the number of people congregating and it being a major touch point - pre-event briefing to be kept to a maximum of 2 minutes with all participants socially distanced. - go to start point and we are to start the event immediately. - No spitting or high fiving is allowed - you will still be given a finish token at the finish line but please avoid gathering around the finish area - go straight to the barcode scanners and show both your individual barcode and your position token to the scanner. Once scanned, you place the position token directly in a container that we will provide. See it isn’t too hard is it? So even though it will look a little different, we know that our parkrun community will take it in their stride and look forward to the best 5km to start your weekend again.
