25.01.2022 Did you know that when you play a musical instrument you are using both sides of your brain? The right side makes sense of a whole situation and the left side makes sense of details. Whilst listening to and making music can be noisy and sometimes frozen on repeat can make it feel like your ears are screaming... there are so many benefits to music. ... Making music can assist long term memory and lead to better brain development of all ages. It increases reaction time due to the sensory processes associated with music interaction. Music can also help improve literacy and numeracy. Even through nursery rhymes this assists children to identify sound pattern and learn through repetition and the sequences of what is coming next. Music can help build coordination. Through movement, fine and gross motor skills and mimicking your moves or following a beat. Plus music is a mood lifter! Pending the music it can indicate playtime, sleep time etc. Using music to assist with the establishment of routine is a great learning tool for children. Who has gotten immense satisfaction from banging on a drum no matter your age? No matter the age. Be it a child or yourself, music can have such an enormous benefit to your health and wellbeing and brain development. You dont need to be a professional, just two or shake away to the beat and enjoy! #playbasedlearning #clhnannies #learningthroughplay #educatorsofinstagram #toddleractivities #kidsactivities #childhoodunplugged #nannylife

25.01.2022 Happy weekend!! Hope you have a fantastic one.

25.01.2022 With Easter not too far away I have found some photos of activities we were completing last year with Easter supplies. You should be able to find similar supplies in stores now or soon. These activities open the door to learning based around colours, sorting, mathematics, fine motor skill development, sensory play, and gross motor skill development. The painting/stamping and play dough activities also open up the childrens creative side. Also if you continue these activiti...es from one day to the next it assists the children to incorporate learning from one area to another. Have fun! #playbasedlearning #clhnannies #learningthroughplay #educatorsofinstagram #toddleractivities #kidsactivities #childhoodunplugged #nannylife

23.01.2022 For those with children who may find it hard to explain what is going on, this makes a lovely bedtime story. The Time We Spring-Cleaned the World The world ...it got so busy, There were people all around. They left their germs behind them; In the air and on the ground. These germs grew bigger and stronger. They wanted to come and stay. They didnt want to hurt anyone - They just really wanted to play. Sometimes they tried to hold your hand, Or tickled your throat or your nose. They could make you cough and sneeze And make your face as red as a rose. And so these germs took over. They started to make people ill, And with every cough we coughed More and more germs would spill. All the queens and kings had a meeting. Its time to clean the world up! they said. And so they had to close lots of fun stuff, Just so these germs couldnt spread. We couldnt go to cinemas Or restaurants for our tea. There was no football or parties, The world got as quiet as can be. The kids stopped going to school, The mums and dads went to work less. Then a great, big, giant scrubbing brush Cleaned the sky and the sea and the mess! Dads started teaching the sums, Big brothers played with us more, Mums were in charge of homework And we read and played jigsaws galore! The whole world was washing their hands And building super toilet roll forts! Outside was quiet and peaceful, Now home was the place for all sports. So we played in the world that was home And our days filled up with fun and love, And the germs they grew smaller and smaller And the sun watched from up above. Then one morning the sun woke up early, She smiled and stretched her beams wide. The world had been fully spring cleaned, It was time to go back outside! We opened our doors oh so slowly And breathed in the clean and fresh air. We promised thar forever and always Of this beautiful world wed take care! 23.01.2022 We have all had those days where you as a parent dont feel amazing. Maybe you are tired or sick or suffering from morning sickness or recovering from surgery. But we arent superheroes and being a parent doesnt stop. We want to still be there for our children and keep them occupied but sometimes we just cant. Whilst I could jump on my soap box right now and say This is when you should call me and have one of my amazing nannies come and help you out, sometimes that isn...t possible too for whatever reason. There are a multitude of activities that I can give you though to make days like this a little easier. In the above image you can see toys lined up. This is one idea. Get the children to sort ANYTHING. Pending their age get them to line them up by colour or shape or animal or size. This will keep them entertained for ages. They can do one item and then try another. Or they can do the animal parade activity and line them up along a line drawn on paper or by masking tape. #playbasedlearning #clhnannies #learningthroughplay #educatorsofinstagram #toddleractivities #kidsactivities #childhoodunplugged #nannylife

21.01.2022 Have a look at this fun activity one of the wonderful nannies on the CLH Nannies team have been keeping the children engaged in today! This activity encourages the development of fine motor skills, sorting, colour recognition and mathematical concepts! To recreate this activity yourself collect containers or bowls and fill the bottom with different coloured paper and label the colour that it is. ... Then provide Pom Poms in those colours for the children to sort into the correct containers. So much fun! #playbasedlearning #clhnannies #learningthroughplay #educatorsofinstagram #toddleractivities #kidsactivities #childhoodunplugged #nannylife

17.01.2022 With the catastrophic bushfires burning Australia right now we often feel helpless of what we can do. If you have people in your family or friends who are in the military or first responders and dispatched or deployed to assist during this crisis you may feel more unsure of what you can do. The lovely Bec from @militarywifelife_au has this fantastic podcast to provide assistance on how you can help the people close to you who are military or first responders helping. You being there for them helps them be there for us. And we are forever thankful. And thank you to Bec for this informative podcast. Always a delight to listen to. If you are from a military family I highly recommend following @militarywifelife_au on all the socials! http://linktr.ee/militarywifelife_au

12.01.2022 An excellent resource to share with children about the current coronavirus pandemic. Remember us as adults remaining calm during moments that could cause panic instills into the children to also remain calm. As children they should not be worrying about adult problems. 11.01.2022 Dear parents, Have you heard of "Baby listening" or "Dunstan baby language"? Allow me to inform you a little more about it. ... When you have a newborn baby they come into this world unfortunately with no instruction manual! They cry to tell you what is going because it is their only known way to communicate but unfortunately with no instruction manual we don't always understand what they are crying for! As parents we get taught to go through the basic checklist in our head... are they tired? Hungry? Do they need a nappy change or clothes change? Are they in pain? But it would be nice if it would be easier right? I was introduced to being able to understand the communication messages behind babies cries over a decade ago. I was hesitant to believe in it at first but after listening to babies cry I can pick up the 5 unique sounds that every newborn makes and know what they are needing. Honestly! I will be in the shops and hear a baby cry aisles away and can hear the sound and often have to hold myself back from wandering over and tapping the parent on the shoulder to give them a hand with what the baby is wanting and passing on these skills. So these sounds are made by NEWBORNS and UP TO 3/6 MONTHS OLD. Learning these tips are excellent whilst still expecting but honestly they are so easy to pick up once you know what to look out for. When a newborn or young baby cries their cries will make one of these 5 unique sounds. Next time you hear your baby cry, especially if you do know its almost feed time etc listen out for the cry. Even get on you tube and search "Baby cues OR baby language" or even search the type of cry listed below. * NEH - Hungry * EH - Burp me * OWH - Sleepy * EAIRH - Tummy pain * HEH - Discomfort (Might be hot/cold/dummy is poking into their head when laying in the cot) If you use these skills already please feel free to leave a comment or send me a message based on your experiences. Also feel free to share this post with anyone you know with a newborn/expecting a baby. Claire - CLH Nannies

11.01.2022 The current pandemic of 2020 has hit the nanny industry and CLH Nannies hard. People are staying in or working from home and enjoying this extra time with their families so there hasnt been as much of a demand for nannies. Which is understandable. At the end of the day I want you to have a happy and safe family and the best way for that at the moment is to stay at home and reduce the amount of people entering your home. Even during this pandemic and when the fog lifts and... we go back to our new normal lives...whenever that may be... I want you to know that CLH Nannies is still here for you to provide the professional caring services throughout sydney to your family. Please also remember during these times if you need someone to talk to never hesitate to reach out to me or call Lifeline on 13 11 14. If you need resources Im always happy to safe drop some books or toys to your doorstep too. Claire- CLH Nannies

10.01.2022 Cloud dough! Have you ever made this before? It is the softer play dough you will find and is made with only 2 ingredients (plus colour and glitter if wanted). 1 cup of hair conditioner (the cheapest you can find but in a scent you can stand as this will scent the dough) and 2.5 cups of cornflour. Mix together till the mixture is combined and give it s quick knead. You can add colours and glitter too! Told you it was quick! It will moisturise your hands too. Feel free to ...add more conditioner if needed, all the different brands have different textures so sometimes you need a little more. #playbasedlearning #clhnannies #learningthroughplay #educatorsofinstagram #toddleractivities #kidsactivities #childhoodunplugged #nannylife See more

05.01.2022 To all nannies I highly recommend insuring yourself with nannysure insurance. It is tailor made insurance just for your role. There are little insurance companies out there that have a niche for everything involved with being a nanny and you and the families you look after deserve that protection and piece of mind. This insurance will protect you if anything happens to you whilst on the job. And it is really cheap! And covers you for up to $10,000,000 or $20,000,000 pending ...which package you choose. I searched long and hard to find the right insurance to protect me and my clients and this was it and I haven’t looked back since. I highly highly recommend nannies have insurance especially this one if you have a full time or part time role in nannying. https://nannysure.com.au/insurance/nanny/ If you have any questions feel free to message me. Claire - CLH Nannies.
