25.01.2022 Principal's Parade Term 3 Week 10

25.01.2022 WORLD TEACHER'S DAY As we get ready to celebrate World Teachers’ Day on Friday 30 October 2020, It is time to thank all Queensland teachers. In what has been an unprecedented year, our Queensland teachers, school leaders and wider school support staff have all continued to show their professionalism and resilience, striving every day to do their best for Queensland students.... Commemorating World Teachers’ Day gives us the opportunity to acknowledge and celebrate the wonderful work of all teachers across our state. This year we are celebrating the many diverse faces of teaching. Each individual’s passion for teaching and dedication to Queensland students is what makes our world-class education system what it is today. Let us join together to thank all teachers on World Teachers’ Day on Friday 30 October.

24.01.2022 Handy Hint #29 Handy Hints: Fidget toys for sensory and tactile needs Fidgets and other hand held toys are one way to address tactile and sensory needs of some students. Some students (at the request of specialists) require functional and socially acceptable fidgets to help them to learn. Tactile stimulation and strengthening for the hands, fidgets can be pulled, twisted or used as hand warm-ups before writing tasks. Generally, students are not permitted to bring toys and p...ersonal items to school. Schools have found desirable items create increased distraction, theft, loss or conflict. Please note that this also relates to fidget toys. However, there are guidelines and rules to assist in the appropriate use of them whilst at school. If you child has been advised they need a fidget toy, please contact the teacher or deputy principal so it can be incorporated into the individual support plan. The correct use and rules of sensory toys also need to be implemented to ensure disruption is kept to a minimum to students and their peers. Their use should be seen to have a positive impact and should be reviewed. Fidget toys may be effective if used appropriately. If you have a child who has been recommended fidget toys at a medical practitioners request, please contact the school on 4978 9333, with documentary evidence, so this can be arranged. See more

05.01.2022 One more sleep! We're excited to be able to allow parents and caregivers back on site. To assist us with the management of this, parents and caregivers must follow the recommended COVD-safe practices we are now very familiar with: maintaining physical distance of 1.5m wearing a mask when distancing is not possible maintaining good hand hygiene staying home when sick.... There will be limits on classroom capacity - a maximum of 13 "non-masked" adults - in most classrooms, with the exception of 18 "non-masked" adults in Prep classrooms. We will continue to use hand sanitiser for students (and carers) when entering classrooms. ONLY parents and caregivers of students in Prep and Year One are allowed on site in the afternoons. Teachers will be able to explain where the designated waiting areas are during drop off time. Golden crosses have been marked outside Prep and Year One classrooms to assist with social distancing during the pick-up time. Once Prep and Year One students have been safely collected from their classrooms, we respectfully ask that you make your way off-site as soon as possible. All other students will be released at 2.45pm and assisted by staff and peers to their agreed upon meeting points to their parents and caregivers. Please make sure you discuss their meeting point with them tonight. Many thanks for your co-operation in following the recommended COVID-safe practices, allowing our families back into the school. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k7X54JrjJAQ&feature=youtu.be

01.01.2022 The end of the year also sees me taking long service leave for all of 2021 before retiring in 2022. Thank you to the Clinton school community for your support and input during my three and a half years as principal at Clinton. I have been very privileged to lead this great school and community and thank you for entrusting your children and families to me. To Clinton staff, thank you for always championing each and every child in our school and going that extra mile to do w...hat it takes to ensure we are continually striving to succeed. To the P and C, thank you for your relentless support and always wanting to support and encourage our students and provide opportunities for them. I have appreciated your input and wisdom. To our amazing students, continue to make each day better than the previous one. Be kind. Be honest. And be true to yourself. The state wide process to fill temporarily the principal position did not find a suitable applicant. Mrs Heidi James will be acting principal for the first five weeks of 2021 whilst another state wide recruitment and selection process is undertaken. Thank you for the send off and rap song by the whole school. They will be remembered with great fondness. To my little preppie who was so concerned about me coming back to get my blue hat, I did. I wish you all a safe, happy and blessed Christmas and wish you all the very best for 2021 and beyond. Yours in Education Leanne Ibell Principal

01.01.2022 Handy Hint #30 Photographing and Videoing of School Events There is a general expectation within the school community that family members/caregivers should be permitted to take photographs and videos of their child and their child’s interactions at school events for personal family records. Where an event occurs on school premises or on premises licensed exclusively to the school, it is at the principal’s discretion as to whether photographing or videoing occurs and on what c...onditions. In general, a principal may permit the recording to occur provided: There are exceptional/unusual circumstances; Parents/carers are made aware that recording must not be for commercial purposes or further publication including posting on social media platforms Parents/carers do not record or photograph other students to esure their privacy is met; and Indecent, offensive or unlawful recording practices are not permitted. Departmental guidelines and policies govern how our school may record, use, disclose and publish student, staff and parent/career personal information to ensure that the Department deals appropriately with personal information it holds. Thank you for your consideration to other students and families privacy. See more
