25.01.2022 Mega mover Monday. Hi all, Lampson Australia Pty Ltd were put to work over the weekend moving a mammoth outter shuttle component for a ship loader operating at... the BHP Queensland and New South Wales Hay Point Coal Terminal. The move began at the Melco Engineering Paget workshop for it's road voyage to the North Queensland Bulk Ports Corporation at the Mackay Harbour where it will be loaded onto a barge for the final leg of the journey to it's new home. The guys from Lampson's were met by many challenges along the route with obstructions such as railway crossings, many overhead powerlines (tended to by the experienced staff at C.Q High Loads), tight corners/ intersections, as well as the general traffic and onlookers at every turn. Slow and steady progress was made along the way, with the turns at North Eton Road and Daly Street/ Anzac Avenue in Marian proving the larger of the challenges, and the team on the ground did an amazing job to overcome every challenge in a safe and professional manner whilst being under the constant pressure over the course of the day. Regarded amongst locals as one of the largest loads to pass through Mackay roads in recent times, this mega move certainly generated a lot of public interest to come out and have a look. From what we have been told, this load was said to have came in at approximately 9 metres wide, 6.6 metres high, 80 metres long and around the 150 tonne weight mark, moved along by 2 of Lampson's Mack Titans in a push pull configuration and their goldhoffer 9 line modular trailers. With months of planning by all parties, this heavy haulage project was a great success. A job well done to all involved in getting this load safely to it's destination. Certainly a sight to see....
