25.01.2022 Ive got two bits of heavyweight Gumblossom hot pink. Each piece is 67x70 cm - perfect for upholstering a couple of drop in dining chairs. Ooh yes lovely. $63 each piece. Message or email me if youre interested. SOLD now.

24.01.2022 This is rather nice. Our Wattle Night fabric made into a bolster and seat by the oh-so-stylish @connors_and_co

24.01.2022 My old mate Stoney Spinach on a couple of vintage Parker dining chairs. Rediscovered recently by another old mate @foldvintage. Stoney spinach is an early design I created back in 2000 and is based on a quick sketch made whilst looking out the plane window of the ground below. ( remember doing that?) My eye was caught by the dappled light playing on a waterhole - I can remember the moment still, quite clearly.. Coincidentally this week I just made the decision to put this colourway back on the list of stock fabrics, this time printing it onto a neutral stone coloured heavyweight linen rather than the cream coloured hemp it was printed on originally, as seen here. Thanks Robert for the photo.

23.01.2022 Stuffed olives on red oxide hemp. A rare bird these days this one is. Heavy weight oxide hemp, printed witholive green, bone and sepia an early colourway of this, my favourite design ever. A client asked for some recently and we just happened to have a spare roll of the red hemp available so we said yes and got it printed for them - with a few metres to spare. It is a lovely lovely fabric and I want someone to buy it to upholster their mid century chair that just might need a revamp. A typical chair would need 2 Mtrs. It would look spectacular and last for two decades at least. If you’d like to be that person who snaffles this beauty then message me direct.

23.01.2022 Its Friday night and what am I doing? Why Im making cushion panels. Inspired to do this because yesterday I picked up a whole bunch of my sample books that were no longer in use and the fabric is so lovely and heavy and such beautiful quality I felt moved to make something. So Ive panelled three pieces together and visibly mended the holes where they were made into books and will send them to my lovely sewing lady to be made up into big 60x60 cushions. Ill probably run out of steam in a couple of hours so I reckon I could put together perhaps 6 or 7 of these. If youre interested in getting some please message or email me. @ Blackheath, New South Wales

20.01.2022 Here's Part Two of ClothFabric designer, Julie Paterson's recent appearance on Better Homes and Gardens. You get a bit more of a look at Julie's 29 acre property in the Blue Mountains, where she rents out two ironstone cabins for walking and creative retreats... and you can watch Julie give Tara Dennis a super swift run through her popular LookDrawPrint workshop (which actually go for something like 6-7 hours with a lunch and tea break). If you've ever wanted to print your ow...n textile repeat design or a single motif on fabric, Julie's workshops are a wonderful way to learn. You can watch the segment on the link below. To check out when future workshops are on and to secure a spot, go to Julie's website: juliepaterson.com.au. 20.01.2022 Just got in some short pieces and end rolls of Gumblossom in this lovely natural khaki green printed on a heavyweight stone colour linen basecloth. The print is the exact colour of the Aussie Bush and is delicious. There are about 5 @ 50x 70 pieces at $48 per piece, 2 @ 50cm x 140 cm at $92 per piece and 3 @1m x 140 cm at $185 per piece. Get in touch by email or message me if you’d like some.

20.01.2022 I love working with multiple patterns, but I understand many people can get a bit nervous with that idea. Here is a new project created using 5 different prints - Spotcheck, looking For Water, Banksia, Ironbark and Scratchy. The reason why this cosy bench-seating-corner-nook works so well is because the colour palette has been restricted to just three tones - off white indigo and stone. Made for @councillorraffan by @homeindustry Good choices people - Sophisticated, classy inviting and informal all rolled into one. Love it.

20.01.2022 Working late. @ Blackheath, New South Wales

15.01.2022 These two are still waiting for their owner at the upholsterers but I couldnt wait to post a pic. Our happy customer wondered if they needed buttons and I think two red ones either side of the Banksia would finish them off wonderfully, dont you? @ Blackheath, New South Wales

15.01.2022 What a nice foot stool this is. Good old Banksia.

15.01.2022 Been prepping the upholstery pieces for 5 drop in dining chairs, 2 carvers, 2 bar stools and 2 foot stools all from old sample books. Theyre going look great. Upholsterer is picking up today. Ill post again when theyre made.

15.01.2022 Geoff, my favourite upholsterer, sent me this work in progress pic of a chair weve been working on using mix and match Cloth - ex sample book pieces and end rolls and some heavy duty denim just to settle the whole thing down. 14.01.2022 Dots anyone? A couple of old designs printed on the light weight linen cotton we used to call workingcloth that I found hiding in the Sydney warehouse today. Theres about 2 metres of each. Excellent for cushions or lampshades or any soft furnishings project you fancy really. $88/m

14.01.2022 Just unearthed two 70 x 70 cm pieces of Currawong linencotton in a teal blue green colour. Originally these birds - each one seems to have a different expression - all came from a single lino print I did years ago of a friendly grey currawong that used to hang around my studio in the Mountains. Currawongs are usually black. Grey currawongs are local to the Blue Mountains - dont think they happen anywhere else in Australia but I could be wrong. Curra- wrong. Anyway thats all there is of this lovely blue green print. Each 70 cm piece is $40. Interested? Send me a message. @ Blackheath, New South Wales

14.01.2022 Pink orange red Gumblossom accidentally printed on a different linen to the usual one - it has chunky light and dark threads running through it making the print feel alot gruntier. I like the grunty and there’s about two @ 1 mtr x 148 cm pieces available. $190 per piece.

13.01.2022 Hello there Disc Dot scarlet! Ive discovered a 5 mtr roll of this old friend languishing in the dark in the Sydney warehouse. Printed on a lightweight linen cotton blend from our old Working Cloth label. Lovely for cushions or shades or clothes or curtains. Not so much for upholstery although you could if you had a smaller project in mind. Just not the family sofa or anything like that. So whod like some? $80/m. Will sell in half metres if thats all you need.

13.01.2022 SweetSpot Loops online exhibition will be going live on Friday at my website www.juliepaterson.com.au If you’d like a preview to the work sign up to my newsletter on the website by lunchtime today.

12.01.2022 In the warehouse I also uncovered some Banksia printed in a delicious marine blue. Some people might call it a dark teal. I call it the colour of the bottom of the ocean. The pattern is large scale and you get three of the banksia plants printed across the width that look as if they are growing up the fabric. Ive got two pieces available - 65 cm deep x 140 cm wide. Printed on a smooth lightweight linen cotton. Lovely for a skirt even lovelier for a lampshade. $90 per piece.

12.01.2022 A new batch of Twig of Conifer just in, printed in a new colour I’m calling Twig - a warm mid grey. Noice. Not on website yet so if you’d like some get in touch here or by email. 150 cm wide pure slubby delicious linen. $145/ m and happy to sell by the 1/2 metre.

12.01.2022 Remember that piece of Currawong fabric I was selling the other day? Well here it is all made up lovely into a lampshade by @jandickers and she is selling it and others at @burleighmarket this weekend. Great shot Jan.

11.01.2022 Am fond of a large scale cropped print. Looking For Water in indigo. Very smart trio.

11.01.2022 Have a couple of Stoney off cuts available. Two pieces of Stoney beige on raw heavyweight linen 45cmx 75cm - $46 ea and two pieces of Stoney Eucalyptus on midweight linen 47 x 75cm- $38 ea. Just enough to upholster a drop in seat or some cushions. If you’d like to nab them send me an email [email protected]

11.01.2022 So the customer who had those lovely chairs upholstered in Banksia with red piping decided not to do the red buttons in the end. Mainly because Vince, the upholsterer didnt want to interfere with the pattern he had so lovingly centered on the furniture. And thats very sweet that he cares so much. Vince is a great upholsterer and I love his work. However an alternative approach would be to offset the print a bit so there is no centering and then youre free to include buttons that add to the composition, working with the negative spaces in a large scale print. This Banksia chair photo is from my home. When we had the bushfires raging earlier this year and had to evacuate, this chair came with us. @ Blackheath, New South Wales

11.01.2022 We are cutting a new batch of kangaroo fabric cushions right now. These ones will be 50x50 cm but we can make any size you prefer. If youd like to order a couple get in touch.

10.01.2022 Lately people have been asking us to make cushions for them. Quite a lot of people, quite a lot of cushions. When I had a shop we used to sell heaps of them and now Im considering the option of making a selection to be available on line. Cushions like this cutie. Thumbs up all those in favour....

09.01.2022 Brumbies! I found a bunch of ponies in the warehouse. 5 x 1 mtr x140 cm pieces printed on lightweight linen cotton $80 a piece. Message me if youd like some. Can cut into 1/2 metre if you prefer.

08.01.2022 This is Ogee orange and pink. A trial version of an old old design originally in production in 1996 - 2000. Its a double print of the one screen and it looks like the ripples of an underwater orange lake. Im keeping some for myself for archival purposes as it is no longer available to print. Ever again. This piece is printed on a mid weight cotton that could make a fab skirt or blind or some cushions or a tablecloth or just kept folded up in a stash of lovely fabrics and pulled out now and again and looked at lovingly then folded up and put away again. Thats probably what Ill be doing - I love it that much. $95 / metre - 2 metres available.

07.01.2022 A customer in Queensland wanted to upholster her old arm chairs in a few of our prints but was not sure how to make it work or where to start. So by email, together we narrowed down the colours and patterns she liked and then I cut the fabric into pieces and sewed them back together in new configurations. This is the result. These pieces will now get shipped up to her upholsterer and we will work virtually together to make the best placement of the panels on the furniture. I do enjoy getting involved in the mixing and matching of my fabric and working closely with my customers. Sometimes when I can’t be there in person, working this way is the next best thing. I look forward to the next steps.

05.01.2022 Need new cushions for Spring? Pod white, Pod Hot Pink and Scarlet Rose fabric is all in stock and available on Clothfabricshop.com.au to buy by the metre. Or ask me to make you some. I dont mind.

05.01.2022 I’ve got two pieces of heavy weight linen Gumblossom navy sand available. 44 cm x 140 cm. The print is a bit more textured than usual in places so Im happy to sell the fabric a little less than full price. $78 each piece ( that’s just a bit more than 10% off ) Message me if you’re interested.

04.01.2022 Soon there will be about 3 or so metres of this fab design printed on a beautiful heavyweight upholstery linen available to buy. Its the first run of the soon to be re - released Connect Charcoal. Were printing the first 15mtr run for a customer who will be upholstering their sofa with it and I thought it might be a good idea to get a few more metres printed just because. Its not a cheap fabric because the quality is a top notch commercial upholstery grade. Get in touch if youre interested in nabbing some.

04.01.2022 I’ve got a few metres available of Rough Rose peacock if anyone fancies. It’s on a lightweight linen cotton blend. $88/m 145 cm wide. Lovely as curtains and cushions and lampshades and skirts. All of which I’ve had made for myself over the years. Yum to all of it. Message or email me if you’d like some. Can sell in 1/2 mtr increments.

04.01.2022 How about this then. Bloody marvellous what you can do with a few metres of fabric and an old chair!

04.01.2022 A lovely little lampshade in Gumblossom surf made by @jandickers on the Gold Coast in Queensland. This sweet photo made me wonder just how many workrooms and small making businesses there are out there around the country making beautiful products with my fabric for their local customers. And I often get asked this question too - who would I recommend for making shades and blinds and upholstery and curtains in my fabrics. So I thought it would be a great idea to do a call out... for such skilled people and then create a kind of directory- a list of preferred makers who I could work with and refer people in to. So ..... heres a call out to those lovely skilled folk. DM or email me with a good photo of your work ( that uses a Cloth print ) and I will start compiling that list. This list will end up featured on my new website ( one day it will be finished, I promise!) as well as being posted on insta and face book. See more

03.01.2022 Blue Hills is a SweetSpot fabric length created as a commission for a window blind in the kitchen of a lovey looking home in Sydney. I created it during early lockdown. All by hand, slowly and deliberately with stencils. It was a joy to make - a few days of intense focus on placement and rhythm and colour - it was like a dance. It’s a utilitarian artwork. And it works beautiful in the space. Thank you @virginiakerridge for commissioning it and Angela and Bill for loving it.

03.01.2022 Thinking of bringing this design back into life. Its called Connect. As in Connect Four the board game. We played it sometimes when I was a kid.

03.01.2022 Parker Armchair looking fabulous - lovely work @homeindustry. Upholstered in Pod Navy #parkerfurniture #clothfabric

02.01.2022 New shades for a custom order.

01.01.2022 Got a few metres of Gumblossom Golden background in and have been making a few cushions from it. Oh how spectacular they look. Oblong and square . Theres enough fabric left for about 5 or 6 more cushions or just the meterage if you fancy making them yourself. Get in touch if youd like some Gumblossom golden at your place.
