21.01.2022 Did you know that International Zouk Day came about by the efforts of a passionate group of Zouk lovers around the world, with the vision to "Unite the world with Zouk, the dance of love", by organising and promoting a flashmob performance to be danced worldwide?! Originally the brainchild of Alisson Sandi, together with Audrey Isautier from Perth, the concept was envisioned & planned, and with the help of an international 'Organising Team' (OT), the International Zo...uk Flashmob was born and launched off in 2012 ... to grow and evolve from there, into what is now our International Zouk Day celebrations! The numbers of dancers training and performing the flashmob got to the level that there was over 200 teams of >1000 dancers, from more than 50 countries and 170 cities worldwide, all dancing & performing a specially created routine to showcase this beautiful dance style to the world. Our aim is to support the dancers who are in our community, including any newcomers who are joining us and adding dancing to their lives. ... We feel so privileged to have and be a part of such a wonderful dance scene, and want to ensure we preserve and improve on what we currently have. By introducing these guidelines formally, we hope to help make sure our event attendees and all dancers are well informed about the expectations of our community, and to keep our dancers happy and feeling comfortable & safe at all times. Our further aim is to always foster positive, encouraging and inclusive behaviours within our dance community, which is our dance 'family' really. <3 If you are attending any of our events, we would appreciate you taking a moment to read through these new C9Z event guidelines and we welcome you to contact us with any comments or feedback you may have. We also encourage ongoing open-ness about any uncomfortable situations or challenges which you have experienced or might encounter on or off the dancefloor, and to please bring them to either the event organiser or to your school's attention, whichever the case may be. This course is suitable for an absolute beginner or newbie to dancing through to those who have been dancing Zouk for less than 6 months. You will progress through many of the most common movements of Brazilian Zouk, so that you can have a fun dance.... Each class will take you through the techniques for Leaders and Followers individually as well as in partnered position in a progressive way. This course will give you the experience of classroom learning, with the benefit of being able to rewind and practice the movements as you go. You may have already heard the wonderful news & felt the buzz about being able to return to partner dancing (with cautionary measures in place ), but here is a little recap: In Stage 3 of easing off restriction for Queensland, contact sports, including partner dancing, has been allowed again since the 3rd of July (brought forward from 10th July).... It may still sound a bit confusing as there are still social distancing recommendations in place within our community, however, dance classes are now okay provided there is an appropriate Covid safe plan in place. So, get ready as Cloud9 Zouk classes are returning from Tuesday 21st! We have been waiting for this news , studying the guidelines and getting prepared, so that we can have our Covid safe plan in place for you, in line with industry leading organisations & within the Queensland guidelines of safe practice.
