23.01.2022 Throughout this week at Clovel we have been celebrating NAIDOC week. A celebration held across Australia each year observing the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. During this week we have been engaging our children in various art and craft activities, creating flags, painting rocks and drawings of traditional dream time stories. Providing the children with these experiences allows them to develop their understanding and empathy skills by responding to diversity with respect.

05.01.2022 A moment of silence As we remember those who fought for us in the War. At Clovel, we teach the children the meaning behind the symbolism of Remembrance Day. The red poppy was one of the first plants to grow on the battlefields of France and Belgium. Wearing a sprig of rosemary represents remembrance and loyalty. This plant grows wild on the Gallipoli peninsula, serving as another reminder of the ANZAC troops who lost their lives there. Lest we forget.

04.01.2022 As part of Clovel’s multicultural program, we celebrate all cultures to encourage inclusivity and acceptance. Today is Lebanese Independence Day, the national day of Lebanon in commemoration of the end of the French Mandate over Lebanon in 1943. The children enjoyed dressing up in traditional Lebanese attire, dancing and playing the drums.
