25.01.2022 Another feather in Clunes Crossing Dusty M13s cap! He is being featured in the elite sire selection catalogue by Leachman Cattle of Colorado. Speaking from experience, M13 calves are the best calves I have ever breed. He is the perfect bull and only when I breed one better will I claim he is not a once in a generation bull. https://issuu.com/leachman/docs/2019_elite_herd_sire/1?ff

24.01.2022 Thirsty girls loving the cool clean water from the house tank. Despite the reasons, it is nice to have the cows around close by for a while. Makes hand feeding much more efficient and the paddock they are in is getting a good manuring.

23.01.2022 The pack in the back heading out to watch me work.

23.01.2022 Cold enough for you? Check out the feels like temp..... brrrrr

23.01.2022 Semen testing bulls again. Pleased to report all passed and are ready to make babies.

22.01.2022 Daisy keeping a keen eye out for the Heifers ...... theyre behind you Daisy!!

21.01.2022 Been doing some running to get fit, clear my head and lose weight over the last couple of months. Averaging around 40km /week at 10km/hour. At the farm I have a 2km circuit around a paddock with a 30m height incline per round. I do it 5 to 8 times per outing depending on the day and how much time I have. The farm is 900m above sea level so it is a little harder running than in Brisbane where I have an 8km loop up and down hills. Dogs come the whole way with me unless a roo or rabbit catches their eye. Running them on leads in Brisbane makes for a harder run but they love it and are good company. They like running as a pack and are both super fit young things.

20.01.2022 The current crop of Bulls are collectively our best yet. Only the best remain in the mob and include the 5 sires used over our stud cows as yearlings. Exciting bloodlines, eye appeal and performance figures align to make these select Bulls very attractive options for breeders looking for generational improvement.

19.01.2022 When its so hot you cant help loosing it at your awesome pup who can no longer handle standing on the hot sand in 36 c heat at 2:30pm after mustering and working in the yards all day. Sometimes you just need to see the other side and not just how you thought it should turn out from your point of view. The consequences was the cows went around daisy and I and back along a fence with their just weaned calves. Trying to get them back taught me which of the German Backbacker boys was a natural born cattleman and which should have gone in for lunch. This was also the moment that helped contribute to blowing out my vocal cords (not really) and made the team at work tell me I sounded crook. Nope, just been yelling at the dogs.

17.01.2022 Update. Remember these two orphans? P9 and P11 are doing great and now running with the weaner mob.

15.01.2022 One of the flush of out of season calves born late February as a peer group to compare their performance vs the normal August calves. The experiment was to compare how they would go while they and their mothers had green grass and warm conditions for the first three months, while the August calves are born into cold, dry and poor feed for the first three months. As it turns out, the only comparison now is the temperature.

14.01.2022 Here is Dusty M13 as he appears in the Leachmann Elite Sires catalogue.

14.01.2022 Looks like it will be another great day.

10.01.2022 This is a post from the amazing Alkira Riley herself. She based her herd on Clunes Crossing genetics and is destined for big things in life and in the cattle industry. Please follow Alkira Angus if you dont already. This young ladies journey is one worth following and supporting with positivity and shares on Facebook and Insta.

10.01.2022 Dusty then and 5 months later.

10.01.2022 Nice new waterhole for the Bulls. They wasted no time getting into it. Good end to another hot dusty day.

09.01.2022 Just testing the water for the demand on high performance Angus Bulls currently and for the spring joining season. Please only answer if you contribute to a decision to buy a bull and if you would consider buy a Clunes Crossing Bull if he suited your program and enhanced it.

09.01.2022 One of the boys chosen for a portrait for the Royal Melbourne Show / Angus Australia centennial celebration. Will post more about this in July. Follow Kerri to see some amazing animal painting. She is amazing.

06.01.2022 Almost fun run ready. Set a target of 12km/hour by June. Nice to set goals and get their early.

05.01.2022 Perfect conditions for a Pinkeye outbreak include dry, dusty and lots of flies. Early detection and treatment prevents long term blindness for the infected cattle. I found a small outbreak of 5 weaners. This is a quick video of how I treat the infection. More about Pinkeye: Pink eye in cattle, medically known as infectious bovine keratoconjunctivitis, is a contagious bacterial infection of the eye. ... Very soon after initial infection, the cornea begins to cloud up and soon becomes completely white. An ulcer will form on the cornea and if not treated, can result in permanent blindness.

05.01.2022 Always a releif to see Miles Benn arrive with more hay. Fortnightly schedule until it rains and paddock feed is available. With winter around the corner, it could be quite a few months even if it does rain (which it does not look like doing anytime soon). Big thanks to Miles Benn Transport for looking after us yet again.

04.01.2022 For Sale : N12 is currently 20 months of age and weighs 730kgs. Super quiet and an early maturing type. Great set of figures and scored 6/7 in structural assessment. 04.01.2022 Close encounter with a big buck Grey Kangaroo late Saturday afternoon. In all the years I have spent in the bush, this is the first time a roo has stood his ground and adapted fight mode rather than flight. The fence behind him in the video is 7ft or 2.1m high. I was trying to direct him through a gate and back to open country. After 20 minutes of trying I left him to it. The pups kept their distance proving when they chase Roos occasionally it is for fun and not to harm them. I am thankful Shagga, my Bullarab was not around. Would have been a very different story.

03.01.2022 Time out with friends catching up with Amy (Shark) before her concert tonight. If you havent check out her album Love Monster, you wont regret doing so.

03.01.2022 This is a link to Alkira Rileys new Alkira Angus Facebook page. I would love you to like and follow her journey as you have mine. She lives a very full and busy life in various parts of the cattle industry including being the only female stock agent in Victoria, raising calves and of course her Angus Stud which she has started with Clunes Crossing genetics. I will post occasional updates, but I think following her directly (and wishing her luck) will be the best way to keep up with this amazing young Ladies journey.

02.01.2022 We used N16 as an AI program back up Sire to a selection of Stud cows last joining. Even as a yearling he did the job successfully. He was structurally assessed as 7/7 and was used for his early maturing, positive fat, carcass and growth traits. His specialty is weaner production when having heavy, muscly easy doing weaners is your breeding outcome. Even better if you are finishing them yourself and are paid for the quality of the carcass. N16 is available for sale. Please PM if interested or call Andrew ph0409206792.

02.01.2022 Currently dispersing all bulls. Variety of ages including yearlings, 18ths and rising 2 years. Prices have been heavily reduced and start from $1000 to $4000. There are more yearlings available than are shown in this album. Please PM me or call 0409206792

02.01.2022 This is Daisy, Dustys sister. Super smart and good instincts with the cattle from when she was about 10 weeks. The pups are 7 months old now. Took this picture when I spotted her up on the hay bales overlooking the cows and a couple of week old calves.

02.01.2022 Great opportunity for anyone looking for a rare chance to tap into the best.

02.01.2022 Three of the Stud Angus Bulls available for sale. There are 12 available and priced to sell from $2,500 to $5,000. 25 x 8 month old bulls also available from $1500 and ready to work this season. Selection of PTIC cows from $1500 and 25 x 8 month old weaner heifers from $1000. All are registered Stud Angus.

01.01.2022 Having the Empty dams cleaned out. The small dam in the photos is spring fed in a normal season. Found a small spring still seeping water. Main thing is the dams wont be full of sloppy mud so they hold more water and are less dangerous for stock.
