25.01.2022 Queensland now has the most severe penalties in the country for motorists using phones whilst driving. Laws that took effect from 1 February 2020 will see first offenders hit with fines of $1,000 and 4 demerit points. For second offences, committed within 12 months of the first offence, drivers will incur double demerit points and a likely loss of licence. Will this make people think twice about leaving the phone alone?

25.01.2022 Today (and everyday) we celebrate the women in our lives. For us at Clutch, we simply couldn't exist without them. Here's to the women that make the bad days good, the good days great and all men better than we'd ever be without you.... #iwd2020

21.01.2022 Canberra knows how to party. As of today, it is legal to possess 50 grams or less of cannabis in the ACT. It is also now legal for Canberrans to grow up to two cannabis plants per person (but no more than four in one household). The laws aim to weed out personal users from the Court system and lessen the financial burden of enforcing small scale possession offences. ... Queensland continues to prosecute persons caught in possession of cannabis despite an international trend towards relaxation of cannabis prohibition. Should Qld get high-minded about legalising it or is our system doing just fine?

17.01.2022 Three years today, since Clutch’s Director, Gabe, signed the dotted line at the Supreme Court! He’s gained more experience, a few more grey hairs and all of you. Here’s cheers to marking more milestones!

10.01.2022 Today is R U OK Day. For many, this year has brought challenges that few could have predicted. This R U OK day is a particularly significant one. In one way or another we all have battles we are fighting. This year has been a lot for everyone, and most of us are taking life one day at a time right now. Check in on your mates, check in on your family, not just today but every day. A conversation could change a life.

09.01.2022 Joshua Creamer is a Barrister-at-Law and Waanyi and Kalkadoon man. He acted in the successful class action brought on behalf of Palm Island residents following the death of Mulrunji Doomadgee. Mr Creamer proposes the establishment of an independent body (not made up of former police officers) to conduct each and every investigation of a death in custody. While the United States confronts its own issues of disparate treatment of African Americans within their justice system, Australia has its own history to confront regarding the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander experience in our own system.

07.01.2022 While we are all socially distancing and staying home it’s important to make sure we are looking after our mental health. We’ve been listening to the imperfects podcast by Hugh van Cuylenburg The Resilience Project & Ryan Shelton (if you get the chance we highly recommend). Hugh is an advocate for positive mental health strategies to build resilience and happiness. We are reading his book and completing the 6-month wellbeing journal - a daily reminder to notice and record the... small things and practice being a GEM. Practicing gratitude, empathy (compassion) and mindfulness leads us to a happier more fulfilling experience. Before you go to bed tonight ask yourself ‘what 3 things went well for me today?’ We are starting to notice the small things that are often overlooked. For example, picking up dog shit this morning will be on my list because it means I was able to spend time with my dogs and truly appreciate the smell of fresh air.
