21.01.2022 Growth is definitely uncomfortable. One of the ways that people limit themselves to grow is that they don’t create space. The space that we need to move, be it a space in your mind, a space in your schedule, a space in your energy, or space to be physical. Space allows the room for you to focus. For you to be able to take the lessons or inputs that you’re receiving. Give yourself space, allow yourself time to process, to think to reflect. We are not immediate adaptation organ...isms. When we take on a new stimulus, it takes time for us to adapt to it. If you’re looking to grow, and make yourself comfortable you’re doing so in a productive and positive way, you got to give yourselves space, and time to think. you have to give yourself a space in your head, to be able to let go of things that are not productive and not necessary in order for you to move forward. In the business world, those business leaders limit the number of decisions that they have to make, they delegate, automate and simplify their lives in order for them to have space to think about the big decisions and be able to lead their business, their teams, their companies in the direction that they need to go. If you’re looking to be productively uncomfortable, make sure to give yourself some space and make sure you give yourself time in order for these lessons to take place and seep in. 15.01.2022 If you love the idea of dessert for breakfast, this recipe is for you. It feels like a treat. You can experiment with protein powders to find one you like. Some good brands to try: OWYN, Sun Warrior, Garden of Life, Optimum Nutrition. Breakfast Parfait (serves 1)... 1 frozen banana (if not frozen, add ice) 1 cup (185 g) frozen berries 2 heaping tbsp hemp seeds cup (60 ml) almond milk cup (125 ml) sugar-free pomegranate juice (can sub with almond milk) 1 scoop vegan protein powder (optional) 1-2 tbsp granola (optional) Combine all the ingredients except granola in a high-speed blender and blend until it reaches the desired consistency. 10.01.2022 How’s the oil pulling challenge doing!? Have you tried it yet?! I’ve got a tip for you if you don’t like how coconut oil feels in your mouth, no problem! You can actually use other oils. Sesame oil is traditionally used in Ayurvedic medicine, or you can use olive oil, which has anti-inflammatory benefits. Just put about 1 tablespoon of oil in your mouth, slowly and gently swish it around your mouth for 15-20 minutes, and then spit it in the trash when you’re done. (4 servings) 3 tbsp lime juice 2 tbsp olive or avocado oil tsp garlic powder tsp sea salt tsp ground capsicum 3 cups (555 g) cooked quinoa, cooled 2 medium avocados, chopped 1 cup (200 g) grape tomatoes, halved 1 cup (150 g) diced cucumber cup (25 g) chopped cilantro 1 scallion, sliced Whisk together lime juice, garlic powder, oil salt and capsicum in a medium bowl. Stir in quinoa, avocados, tomatoes, cucumber, cilantro and scallion. This is so important because all of your body’s strength begins in your core and planks are one of the best exercises to strengthen all of your core muscles! When you have a strong core, you can keep proper spinal position in just about everything else you do, whether you’re working out, walking, playing with your kids, and even right now as you’re reading this challenge.... Here are some other benefits: You’ll build core stability (important for avoiding injury) and improve your posture. Your balance will improve. Your upper body will get a workout, too! We’re going to experiment with lots of plank variations to keep things fresh and fun. Here’s how you’ll do it: Break your planks up into as many sets as you need in order to reach the recommended time each day with proper form. Also, remember to BREATHE! 07.01.2022 I am just looking at this photo and it amazes me how time flies so fast. Nobody has even warned us that Covid would hit. Since lockdown hit, I have been doubling down and working hard to grow as a person, as a business owner, as a family man and like every aspect of my being and it's uncomfortable. Sometimes I feel my brain is about to explode and I feel pressure at all sides. But it is a challenge that I embrace, it is a challenge that I know I can work the process with beca...use I know growth is immediately uncomfortable. Every time that I go from this discomfort, I pull myself out of it quickly knowing that it's just how it is about growth and long term stagnation is the real torment. So fast forward since this photo, a lot has changed. And as I look back, I am realised that they have because if they haven't, it means we have been stagnant. We're here to grow and we should be doing things that make us productively uncomfortable. So if you're uncomfortable right now, is it because you're growing? Or if you're not uncomfortable, is it because you are just fooling yourself that everything is okay? Would you rather be uncomfortable but growing or comfortable but stagnant? 06.01.2022 This is a refreshing and delicious recipe the whole family will love. Once the fish has been marinated, it will only take about 10 minutes to prepare the tacos. Wrap these in the cabbage or collard leaves or with your favourite gluten-free wrap.... Feel free to experiment with the toppings! If you don’t have time to chop/dice, a good store-bought mango salsa is always an option. Citrus Fish Tacos (serves 4) For the fish Juice from two large oranges Juice from lime 3 tbsp olive oil 1 tsp cumin powder tsp salt 4 cod fillets or other white fish filets (cut into 1 chunks) For the wraps 6-8 collard or cabbage leaves, or 4 gluten-free wraps red capsicum, diced red onion, diced 1 mango, diced avocado, diced Mix the orange juice, lime juice, olive oil, cumin, and salt in a bowl and combine well. Place codpieces into a large Ziploc bag and pour in the juice. Marinate for 2-4 hours in the refrigerator, flipping the bag over about halfway through. When you’re ready to prepare the meal, heat the oil in a large skillet. When the pan is warm, add the cod and cook for about 4-5 minutes on 1 side, then turning only once, finish cooking on the other side (about 8-9 minutes total).
