24.01.2022 Welcome to 2020. Its been a difficult start to the decade for so many of us here in Australia. Theres probably no family that hasnt been directly or indirectly affected. I pray for healing and hope for the world. With such catastrophe happening around us - its a good time to reflect on where have come from - and where we are going. 24.01.2022 Earlier this week Professor Anthony (Tony) Grant passed away. To Tonys family I send my heartfelt condolences on the loss of a truly great person. May his memory be for a blessing. Tony was my first coaching teacher at the University of Sydney in the Coaching Psychology Masters and he supervised the student research project that I conducted in 2018-2019. 24.01.2022 Full agreement from me that these ten signs signal the need for a mindset shift. Just about every doctor who comes to me is struggling with these issues - and coaching really helps this shift happen. So my question is: how many of these signs do you have? And what are you going to do about it??

23.01.2022 Being a coach vs doing coaching - what I learnt in my coaching degree

23.01.2022 Many doctors worry about treating people when they have had similar issues themselves. They often worry about being triggered. Or feel in some way that this life experience undermines their confidence or competence in treating others. Its the equivalent of saying: "How can I help other people when I havent even got my life under control?" However, theres another entirely different way to see this. 21.01.2022 So proud and honoured to present my research at the University of Sydney Coaching Conference over the weekend. #usydcc2020 so honoured to have had Tony Grant as a supervisor on this work. So sad he will not be able to see the final product - but it is my mission to get this published in his honour. Thanks and congrats to Dr Sean OConnor, Dr Michael Cavanagh and the volunteer team. What a great event. May you all go from strength to strength #coaching #coachingpsychology #developmentalcoaching #research

20.01.2022 It was the best of times, it was the worst of times, it was the age of wisdom, it was the age of foolishness, it was the epoch of belief, it was the epoch of incredulity, it was the season of Light, it was the season of Darkness, it was the spring of hope, it was the winter of despair, we had everything before us, we had nothing before us, we were all going direct to Heaven, we were all going direct the other way in short, the period was so far like the present period, that some of its noisiest authorities insisted on its being received, for good or for evil, in the superlative degree of comparison only. 16.01.2022 Here in Melbourne, July 2020 - the year of COVID19 - it is now mandatory to wear a mask out of the house. Already in the lead up to the official start of the great Melbourne masking of 2020 most people in the street had masked up. Theres a whole new etiquette to being and greeting. And a whole new way of making a statement. [ 460 more words ] https://coachgp.com.au/2020/07/21/humanity-unmasked/

11.01.2022 Imposter syndrome and tips for managing it Dr Jocelyn Lowinger One of the growing problems in healthcare is that many highly competent health professionals, even in the highest positions, are struggling with feeling incompetent and that its only a matter of time before they are found out. This feeling of a lack of confidence and that they dont deserve their own success despite awards, promotions or other external evidence is termed imposter syndrome or, sometimes, imposter phenomenon.1 It typically occurs in top performers and can affect doctors2-4, nurses5 and, no doubt, all other health professionals. 09.01.2022 Burnout is a complicated and complex systemic issue - there is no simple solution. 09.01.2022 A recent article in KevinMD, 10 telltale signs that youre ready for a mindset shift, is a must read for any doctor interested in their wellbeing. The 10 signs read like a description of just about every doctor I speak to - regardless of whether they are working on building confidence or working on their career direction. To me, these 10 signs signal not only the need for a mindset shift but the presence of more fundamental issues relating to a disconnect with identity, meaning and purpose. 06.01.2022 Lately Ive been having multiple conversations with clients who want to scrub out some aspect of their emotions: I just wish I wasnt so emotional How do I stop being so emotional? Of course, they mean emotions related to being upset or angry about something. Have you ever heard someone lament their sense of humour, or experience of joy? Didnt think so. 06.01.2022 2020 has pretty much affected everyone. I'm certainly no different. Work is slow of course - lots of my clients had exams cancelled or otherwise just don't have headspace for coaching right now. I'm confident things will pick up. But to keep busy and productive and feel like I was contributing in some way to be part of the solution, I committed to way too much pro-bono work. 03.01.2022 Today is 75 years since the liberation of Auschwitz. 75 years. Members of my extended family (names now lost to history) and my husbands extended family almost certainly were murdered there. And their bodies burned. Up in flames. This is the pure and unadulterated evil that world swore it would never forget and never repeat. But have we forgotten? Have we forgotten the baseless hatred that can lead to such atrocities? 02.01.2022 When I wanted to learn coaching it was important for me to get the best training possible. It took three and a half years and upwards of 50 flights from Melbourne to Sydney - but now finally graduated with MSc in Coaching Psychology from Sydney University. First coaching masters in the world - very proud to have the privilege to do this world class degree. And thanks to all of those who made it possible.
