25.01.2022 Due to many requests, and the difficulties experienced in trying to source second hand copies, we are reprinting Glazes for Australian Potters. To determine jus...t what form it will be reprinted in, we are trying to get an idea of the extent of interest in it. It is not a new edition, but a reprint of the original- however there will be included a table of recommended substitutions to use when a particular material is no longer available. If you are interested, could you register that no obligation interest by using the link below. We can then contact you when it is available. See more

18.01.2022 What a action packed evening! Huge thanks to Michaela Kloeckner for an amazing set up to experiment with the full range of ceramic decoration techniques. We covered slips and sgraffito, hole punching, underglaze, tissue transfer, decals, played with gorgeous brushes and using stains like ink, gold pen blingware, shellac and binder resist on greenware. Is there anything we didnt do? Thanks to the all of the team that made it happen and all those who came to make pots for Empty Bowls in winter.

Except Mondays 13 Bonville Street, Urunga Members of Coastal Claymakers Inc are holding their annual exhibition at Art Space, Urunga from Saturday 26 th September until Sunday 11 th October in a celebration of recent works entitled Grounded. In a year of social distancing potters have been busy, making new works. Being grounded means feeling at home with yourself and totally focussed on the present. It is being able to explore and define one idea to the exclusion of distractions. Coastal Claymakers annual members exhibition Grounded offers viewers insight into the many intriguing concepts which engage artists in clay on the Mid North Coast. Pottery enthusiasts from Scotts Head to Woolgoolga, including Dorrigo, Bellingen, Urunga, Coffs Harbour and Coramba, make up the group. Many members, have been practicing for 35 years or more, having completed specialised training, sharing of expert knowledge with newcomers to the craft. It is a thriving hub who inspire and encourage Mid North Coast artists to explore the medium of clay.

08.01.2022 HEAT - the spontaneous flow of energy.... The Shard Sisters, Deb Grigg-Hawkes, Parma Keft, Gloria Malone, Jane Northway, Cath O’Gorman and Anne Reilly, are all local and well-known ceramic artists who have once again collaborated to bring together this exhibition ‘HEAT. the spontaneous flow of energy’. This flow or exchange of energy, from one person to another, one medium to another is a significant part of our daily lives, and very little would exist on earth without it,... whether in our personal lives, in community, in art, nature, science or industry. Heat has specific and significant meaning in the context of ceramics, and is also relevant in relation to other mediums showcased in this exhibition. Each of the featured artists speak about their personal inspiration, motivation and creativity in their individual artist statements displayed adjacent to their exhibited works. footnote: at this stage due to Covid restrictions, the official advertised opening of HEAT (5pm Sunday 8 November) is not permitted ... we will update this info if there are any changes to current protocols....regards The Shard Sisters
