25.01.2022 This is the start of a Garlic Gourd / Wonky Basket / Jellyfish Pendant! Made with tightly woven Ilala Palm, the beginning foundation of all of these pieces is the same. The artisans use traditional weaving techniques that have been passed down from generation to generation. Remember when you buy something handmade, you are buying more than just the product. Hours & days of work have gone into making each and every piece,... not to mention the years of practicing and honing the skills and techniques to be able to create such beautiful artworks. 22.01.2022 BINGA // Intricate, detailed weaving by a incredibly talented, unique and very remote tribe in Zimbabawe It takes days and weeks of weaving to create a piece like this, and the design is one-of-a-kind.... no two Binga pieces ever have the same pattern. So versatile as to how they are displayed - either solo on a shelf or grouped on a console. But we love nothing more than making a real statement en masse along a wall. Check out our stories today to more of this wall... in our new showroom! Sizes range from 30cm-70cm with a huge assortment of tones and designs - 300+ flat baskets in stock. 21.01.2022 Hand-made by Rachel // Rachel is the super-talented artisan who makes the Kasbah cushions we currently have in-stock She starts with a piece of Baobab fibre - and creates these striking cushions. It's quite amazing when you think about the whole process from start to finish To create the patterns and various colours in these cushions, organic plant materials are boiled to make natural dyes. The Baobab fibre is dyed and then dried before the weaving process even ...begins. The weaving for these Kasbah cushions takes around three days per cushion piece. Because they are all hand made, each and every one is unique and - as we love to say - #perfectlyimperfect To help you see out 2020, we have 30% off wholesale and trade pricing on all pieces currently in-stock (excluding the new SOUL Design Jewellery range). Ends this Friday 13 November at midnight AEDT. See more

17.01.2022 Absolutely *loving* the tones in these cushions Each of our Tribal Textile pieces is entirely made by hand, drawing inspiration from the culture and wildlife in Zambia [where they are created] - like this gorgeous elephant cushion from our Safari Animals range. The Batik method used to create this beautiful piece only has two ingredients wheat flour and water. Mixed together to form a paste, it is hand-drawn on the fabric and baked in the African sun before being hand-painted. 13.01.2022 Come and celebrate with us Let’s cheers to our showroom relaunch, Christmas and,... surviving 2020 We’ve all been affected by Covid in so many ways this year. For us as a business, we've had to manage the unknown of what would happen in Africa, and the knock-on effects to our artisans and the delivery of goods into Australia. We also had to - rather swiftly (!) - leave our old showroom & warehouse in May. Since then, we’ve moved into our new space, re-built... storage and the showroom space with a semi-full warehouse,... all while keeping things moving in our busy working office. So it has taken us a little longer than expected to get it all ready! So - lets put 2020 to bed on a positive note Please join us as we re-launch the showroom we are part of in the Northern Beaches @lifestyle_collective_nb. There are *lots* of new brands and goodies to check out,... and while you're here, pick-up some ethical, hand-made, natural gifts for friends, family or you! We’ll be celebrating from 12pm through to 8pm. See more

11.01.2022 NINE! Yep, nine Malawi Chairs on the back of one little bike. Incredible. Ingenious. The chairs travel on the back of bikes like this for about 5km from the village to the main road, where they are then transferred onto trucks for the trip to Cape Town. From Cape Town they travel by boat to Australia. When you look at a Malawi Cane chair, it has so many stories within it - the mastery of the weave plus the extensive journey it goes on... to reach a pocket of your home. It is *truly* such an honour to share these chairs with the world, to celebrate and support the artisans who make them. See more
