25.01.2022 Busy with repairs today. This Rheem Stella hot water system in Coomera Waters has gone under water yesterday in the big deluge we had. The tenant tried to relight the pilot themselves but the ignition button was stuck in. Its a good really as the burner and injector were full of water which couldve been dangerous. We replaced the button and did a full strip down service on the appliance. Checked gas pressure which was correct. Tenant is now happy shes got hot water for the weekend. 24.01.2022 Removed two Rheem Commercial 275s which were leaking at a hotel in Surfers Paradise. We installed two Rinnai DD1s who now make a flue adaptor for a direct replacement. The Rinnai units are a lot lighter and easier to move around especially when a few flights of stairs are involved. 24.01.2022 We replaced a faulty regulator on this motor home earlier in the week and removed the illegal 1m long Flexi pigtails from the install. Flexible pigtails can be no longer than 600mm as per standards. This unit gets used on film sets around the place for the movie stars to relax in during filming. 22.01.2022 Helped out MTC Gas with a call out today at the Hilton in Surfers Paradise. The Raypaks in both towers had gone off in the storm. The burners on the larger appliances had water and moisture on the burners and flame sensors. 21.01.2022 Alert: for all Gas Fitters Suspension of AGA4624 Suburban RV/Caravan gas fueled water heaters A safety alert was issued early in the October 2019 and as per ... the GTRC,gov.au website , the above Certification AGA4634 was suspended on the 25/09/2019. The direct link here Covering the Suburban / caravan/vehicle water heaters with the following models. SW6DEA, SW4DEA, SW4DECA, SW6PA,SW6DECA (Dual Fuel) SW6DA & SW4DA A safety alert has been issued by the Petroleum and Gas Inspectorate. A reminder for all gas fitters, before you install any gas appliances, you must check the Gas appliance has an approval. It is an offence to supply, certify or install non-certified , suspended, canceled and or non-approved gas appliance. It is the responsibility of the Licenced gas fitter to check each gas appliance for approvals, and as suggested prior , the best location is the Gas Technical Regulators Committees GTRC National Certification Database GTRC,gov.au , if the appliance is not listed on this database, then it can not be installed. KEY ISSUES : Under certain conditions the water heater can generate elevated levels of carbon monoxide which, in some cases may spill into the habitable space of the vehicle. Carbon monoxide (CO) is a colorless, odourless gas that can adversely affect the health when inhaled, in turn this can be lethal. Recommendations as follows Suburban gas fueled units- Manufactured from 4th April 2018 to 1st August 2019 With Serial numbers > From 181315552 to 193002648, and - Advise any Owners of Caravans, motor homes and camper trailers that there is potential safety risk while operating the below appliances on LP gas: Model Numbers Affected: SW6DEA, SW4DEA, SW4DECA, SW6PA, SW6DA, SW4DA, SW6DECA (dual fuel) Serial Numbers affected: From 181315552 to 193002648-Manufactured from 4th April 2018 to 1st August 2019 Stop using the appliance immediately and check whether your hot water heater is listed above. You can find the model number on the data plate. If your water heater is confirmed to be one of the model numbers listed above, then it must NOT be used until rectified by an authorised Suburban agent or dealership The gas isolation valve to the appliance must be turned off, until the appliance & installation has been rectified The safety issues only apply while the appliance is operating on gas. If your suburban water heater can operate from a 12 or 240 volt supply as well as from LP gas, it is safe to continue operating the appliance from 12 or 240 volts only. All Gas Work Licence holders who comes across one of the affected model numbers must advise the owner and refrain from certifying the gas system as compliant until the unit has been rectified. In summary for gas fitters The supply and installation of new Suburban Water Heaters covered by the suspended certificate is prohibited for the duration of the suspension and until further notice. Suburban Water Heaters identified by the model and serial numbers in the table above cannot be certified as part of an inspection of a used vehicle gas system for resale until further notice. Recommendations for SURBURBAN Water Heaters o NOT identified in the above information Suburban Water Heaters not identified in the table above should be checked to ensure safe operation, including correct combustion characteristics and products of combustion cannot enter the habitable space, prior to issuing a Gas System Compliance Certificate. A combustion analysis and safety test of the combustion must be carried out - The maximum recommended CO/CO2 ratio is 0.004 to a maximum of 0.01 Inspect and test the appliance to ensure products of combustion cannot enter the habitable space of the caravan and confirm that the appliance is room sealed. Should any of the above tests fail or these tests can not be carried out then disconnect the appliance and make it safe: If you cannot confirm the appliance is safe, then it would be in the best interest to replace the suspended unit with a currently approved alternative new Hot Water. Gasfitters should document the process and record the process on a check sheet to confirm the appliance is safe and positively record the results and actions taken. 14.01.2022 Replaced a regulator on a Australian Winnebago motorhome today, when we pressure tested the pipework we had a drop on our gauge. After elimination of each appliance we traced it to the stove, we found this cracked elbow. Weve capped it off for now until the owner buys a new one. Whilst tracing pipework we came across this American LPG fired generator in a side opening which isnt compliant to Australian Standards, we also capped this off. Scary thing is this van had a gas certificate recently when the owner purchased it. Weve completed all the gas pipework here at Burleigh Brewery over the past 2-3 years including the onsite food truck. Before Christmas we made alterations on the cold supply and steam pipes to and from this boiler. Steam commissioning was done by others. 04.01.2022 Weve just hit our 6th year anniversary of being in business. My aim was to become a specialist gasfitting company along with our other speciality in Backflow & TMV testing and I think weve done that. We now carry out gas work and testing work for numerous other plumbing companies on the Coast, Brisbane and Northern NSW. We work for a few big name hotels as well as manufacturers, restaurants and schools. We have a tremendous working relationship with MTC Gas where I learnt a...ll I know about the Aussie gas industry. Ive been involved with them as an employee, me overseeing there work whilst at Origin and now theyre my biggest client where we contract to them. There are many others to thank, the suppliers we use which we remain loyal to, the contractors we occasionally use when we get busy, the companies who use us regularly, the real estates, building managers and many private clients. I have the best employee a company could have, Tony is the ultimate professional, treats it like is his own business and Im thankful for that, hes a great mate too.
