04.01.2022 What a fabulous market we had for December. We got to hand out quite a lot of grants to our community, which is what drives the market and all of our volunteers. Grant recipients and projects include: Connecting Cockatoo Communities Inc (previously Cockatoo Township Committee) to support their second round of free veggie gardens to Cockatoo residents SES Emerald Unit - to purchase a charging station to be used by emergency services, and the community in situations of on...going power outages Cockatoo Free Food Store - to assist in purchasing low cost food and essential items to be given to those in need of assistance in our community Cockatoo History & Heritage Group - to help pay fees for research and cost of accessing documents as they continue to discover more about the history of our town Hoddles Creek CFA Catering Crew - to purchase necessary equipment to feed our emergency services heroes safely and efficiently We also accepted donations for the St Luke's annual Christmas hampers, and the market committee decided to donate an additional $500 to help purchase goods for the hampers as we acknowledge a lot of families are doing it extra tough this year. 2020 has been a helluva year and we can only hope that next year will be a bit more back to normal with our regular monthly markets. We cannot express enough how much we appreciate the ongoing support of our community and stallholders as we attempted to pivot this year with our online markets, and the few in-person Covid-safe markets we were allowed to have. Everyone came along for the ride, gave it a go and were respectful and kept it fun. How great is Cockatoo??? We are so grateful to be part of this town.
