25.01.2022 Phishing alert Be alert for emails claiming to be from Federal Government organisations that are seeking your personal information, as it’s likely to be a p...hishing attempt to steal your identity. WA ScamNet recently issued a warning an ATO email scam targeting those on JobKeeper for copies of their driver’s licence and Medicare cards, and now very similar scam emails are arriving in inboxes from ‘Services Australia’. Learn how to spot one of the fake emails here: www.scamnet.wa.gov.au/tax-email-scam #wascamnet

14.01.2022 Please note that this will affect SA travellers to the IOTs

12.01.2022 **Temporary flight route changes to support CI aviation fuel supplies ** There will be some temporary changes to passenger air service routes for the Indian Oce...an Territories (IOT), to manage ongoing delays to aviation fuel delivery to Christmas Island (CI) caused by poor weather conditions. From Tuesday, 2 March 2021, all passenger flights to the IOT will be temporarily rerouted to first stop at the Cocos (Keeling) Islands (CKI) and refuel before travelling on to CI, then return to Perth. This will help manage the available aviation fuel stocks on CI, until the new supplies can be off-loaded from the sea freighter. It should be noted, this change will only affect the Tuesday service route, as the Friday flight already stops at CKI first. I acknowledge the significant impact this short-term measure will have on inter-island travel in particular and I thank all travellers visitors and residents for their patience and understanding as the Australian Government works to ensure the continued operation of essential air services to the IOT. Virgin Australia will be in contact with affected passengers and will provide further information on these temporary flight arrangements shortly. CI has been affected by an unusually strong and lengthy swell season this year, which has reduced the ability of shipping services to moor and unload at CI. This has prevented some essential supplies including aviation fuel from being delivered in recent months. Unfortunately, continuing poor weather prevented full offload of freight on CI last week, including the aviation fuel. However, it was positive to see 15 refrigerated containers of food supplies successfully delivered. While we await the return of the ship and its successful offload of the remaining supplies and fuel, the Department of Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development and Communications is working with Air BP, Toll, Virgin Australia and other stakeholders to manage fuel use and uptake from CI until the next delivery. Adequate fuel supplies are available to support critical operations such as medical evacuation flights. I will keep you informed as we continue to deliver essential passenger and freight air services to the IOT. Christmas Island Tourism Cocos Keeling Islands Visitor Centre

02.01.2022 **Important Message : IOT COVID-19 RESPONSE UPDATE: Aligning CI and CKI with WA border arrangements ** In meetings today (4 November), the Emergency Management ...Committees of Christmas Island and the Cocos (Keeling) Islands have endorsed the recommendation proposed by the COVID-19 subcommittee that the Indian Ocean Territories (IOT) align with the upcoming WA border and travel adjustments from November 15. This includes: Adopting the WA adjustment for very low risk states (defined as those with no community cases in 28 days currently NT, SA, ACT, TAS, and Qld) and allow travel from these jurisdictions, via WA, to the IOT without quarantine or isolation restrictions Endorsing that low risk states be categorised as jurisdictions with less than five community cases per day on a 14-day rolling average. This currently includes NSW and Victoria. Travellers from low risk states may enter the IOT after isolation/self-quarantine in WA for a period of 14 days, with a mandatory COVID-19 test on day 11. EMC also endorsed the maintaining of the current state of emergency (currently in place until 17 December, in line with national protocol). This endorsement is in line with their earlier decision to align the IOT with WA staging and border measures. People will still be required to apply for travel, to both WA and to the IOT. We continue to liaise with the WA Government to support the WA/IOT Travel Zone and operationalise the controlled borders processes. Further information will be available later through the regular Territory Controllers Update.
