24.01.2022 Our four reservoirs, Lauriston, Malmsbury, Upper Coliban and Barkers Creek, are now all open to on-water recreation and it’s a great time to visit with the weather warming up and days getting longer. Our reservoirs opened to on-water recreation last year and provide exciting fishing and recreational opportunities for locals and visitors to the Macedon Ranges region. We have been working to improve boat ramp facilities and car parking at Barkers Creek and Upper Coliban reserv...oirs, with funding from the Victorian Fisheries Authority and Better Boating Victoria. We want all our visitors to enjoy on-water recreation and other facilities at our reservoirs. Please respect our reservoirs and follow the regulations to protect water quality, the environment and your safety. Please remember to practice personal hygiene and physical distancing, remaining 1.5 metres from other visitors. More information can be found on our ‘Visiting our reservoirs’ page - https://coliban.com.au/community/visit-our-reservoirs

20.01.2022 Want better access to lakes in central Victoria? You’ve got it! New boat ramps at Barkers Creek and Upper Coliban reservoirs are complete and open for busine...ss, and Minister for Fishing and Boating Melissa Horne MP has dropped in to check them out. The waters are chockers after welcome spring rainfall, and now you can launch your tinny at both, completing a Target One Million commitment. Even better, both lakes are part of a group of central Victorian waters to receive Golden Tagged cod and yellas! Ongoing works between us at the VFA, Coliban Water and Better Boating Victoria are providing better access to lakes in the heart of Victoria. Both reservoirs are popular freshwater fisheries and have shared in substantial stockings over the last two years of trout (107,000), Murray cod (36,000) and yellas (77,000). Upper Coliban and Barkers Creek as well as Tullaroop and Lauriston reservoirs are part of the relaunched Golden Tag fishing competition, giving you a chance to land a tagged fish worth up to $10,000 by fishing these reservoirs. At Harcourt’s picturesque Barkers Creek Reservoir you can keep your petrol outboard on the boat but only use electric motors or paddle power. At Upper Coliban a short drive from Kyneton you must have the outboard removed from your boat when launching at the ramp off Premier Mine Rd, and only electric or paddle power can be used. Both reservoirs have better vehicle access as part of the $250,000 program, and more car parking is on the way at Upper Coliban. And of course, canoes, kayaks and car-toppers are still more than welcome at both! #target1million #centralvictoria Maree Edwards MP Mary-Anne Thomas MP VRFish Coliban Water

19.01.2022 Our Managing Director Damian Wells welcomed Melissa Horne MP, Mary-Anne Thomas MP, Maree Edwards MP, Victorian Fisheries Authority, Kyneton Angling Club and Castlemaine Angling Club to Barkers Creek and Upper Coliban reservoirs yesterday. Our boat ramp and car parking facilities at both reservoirs have been upgraded with funding from the VFA and Better Boating Victoria. We worked in partnership with the Dja Dja Wurrung on the new boat ramp at Premier Mine Road as it’s an area... of significant cultural heritage. Contractors from Djandak, the commercial arm of Dja Dja Wurrung Clans Aboriginal Corporation, were engaged to work on the upgrade. As well as improved access for on-water recreation, people have another great reason to visit our reservoirs. Yesterday the VFA released tagged Murray cod into our reservoirs as part its Golden Tag competition. If you land a fish with a golden tag you could win up to $10,000. The competition and the opening of our reservoirs to on-water recreation are part of the Victorian Government’s Target One Million commitment, to get more people fishing, more often. We want all our visitors to enjoy on-water recreation and the other facilities at our reservoirs. Please respect our reservoirs and follow the regulations to protect water quality, the environment and your safety, and remember to practice personal hygiene and physical distancing, remaining 1.5 metres from other visitors. Information on visiting our reservoirs can be found on our website - https://coliban.com.au/community/visit-our-reservoirs

Lagoon volume at our Kyneton Water Reclamation Plant is currently at 87 per cent and the plant continues to operate normally, within compliance conditions of our EPA licence for water quality and river flow dilution. We received 16 millimetres of rain on Wednesday 11 November 2020 and our plant managed the resulting inflows with no significant impact on our lagoon levels. ... From next week, we will be carrying out routine desludging works on our Trade Waste lagoon. Sludge (or biosolids) is the by-product of the treatment process and desludging is carried out every two to three years to ensure our lagoons continue to operate efficiently. 08.01.2022 We know that 2020 has been a difficult year for many people in our community and we are proud to once again support Anglicare Victoria’s Toy and Food Appeal, which helps make Christmas special for Victoria’s most vulnerable children. Last year our staff donated gifts for the appeal which we collected at our office and then delivered to Anglicare Victoria. This year is a bit different, and because of the current climate, the appeal is being run online. Anglicare Victoria is s...eeking financial donations instead of physical donations of a toy or food. We’ve been chatting to our staff about this year’s appeal, and we hope the community will get behind it too, for those in a position to help. If you donate, you can let Anglicare Victoria know if you’d like the money to be used for a toy or meal. You can also donate over the phone if you prefer. The Appeal runs until December 18.
