21.01.2022 Wow..does this ring true, not just for life but specifically to being an event manager on event day! We can forget in high stress times like event day that although we are behind the scenes we still encounter all the different people involved in an event including attendees and our energy can influence how they feel! It can be challenging to keep a positive and open spirit when we are focused on the details of an event but it is such a reward when you can elevate an event w...ith your contagious positive attitude, even if on the inside you are secretly going over your to do list! Love, The Collab Events Team Xx P.S. don’t forget sometimes the best thing to do is take a step away, even if it’s for two minutes to breathe, reset and then come back to slay it!

21.01.2022 Perfectly lined up and waiting for the guests to arrive @justanothermummyblog planner is THE REALEST I have never had a planner that I’ve continually used every single week or the year. If there has been one takeaway from using a diary that makes you tick off goals and habits is that you need to learn to love the process. ... Learn to love the hard days, the days that challenge you as a person, colleague, mother or friend. Learn to love failures. This is how you find success Growth doesn’t simply come easy. It’s a ripple effect of small daily habits, routines and actions that compound over time. You won’t see results instantly. You may not even see results for a month, six months or maybe even year but I promise, your efforts are compounding and you will thank yourself that you took that messy, imperfect action to support your goals and to live the life you deserve! Win the day, then win the week. Have a lovely weekend everyone, Love, The Collab Events team xx

19.01.2022 I experienced it again procrastination masking perfectionism. My guess is most of us have experienced this before. As business owners, creatives, entrepreneurs and high achievers we are told to practice certain habits and speak about the importance of putting systems in place to avoid the toxic traits of perfectionism. And I have to admit I’m guilty of slacking on these daily habits. A few weeks ago I was busy creating some valuable (FREE) content for you all th...at’s right, keep your eyes peeled for a little surprise . Like most productivity gurus I like to batch my work tasks, so each day I was spending some time dedicated to this project and I’m being honest I finished it within a few days. This is when it hit every single day for the following four days I went back into the document to proof read, change images, test colour variations (for the 10000th time) and even change the font sizes. Now I’m not saying there is anything wrong with reading over your work, testing creatives, or even double and triple checking the work to make sure it reads well but it comes to a point where you need to pull yourself up on your own sh*t. What do I recommend when this happens? Get another set of eyes on your work. Needless to say, I was getting in my own head, over thinking and my little friend (perfectionism) was getting the best of me. This is just an honest post to let you know that even when you have systems in place, are practicing self-care and setting realistic goals, that bad habits can still find their way back. Its natural, don’t beat yourself up about it and most importantly seek guidance and opinions from others before you begin to waste time doubting your work. Love, The Collab Events team xx

18.01.2022 Pitching to Sponsors! For a lot of the events we run, finding sponsors is keybetter yet finding the RIGHT sponsors is crucial. We’ve broken down a sponsorship pitch into four parts. Clear Mission For Your EventKnowing your main objectives is important for you and your sponsor. Understanding the driving force behind the event, what’s the result you are hoping to achieve and presenting the objectives in a clear way will give the sponsor confidence in your ability. Event ...SummaryA brief event summary with the type of event, the amount of attendees, location and anything that sets your event apart etc.How Do You Fit With Their Brand? This step is significant. Before approaching a sponsor you need to do your research on whether they are the right fit for you, will they bring the right type of people to your event? Do they have the same values and mission as a company? Once you have found the right sponsors, make it clear to them how YOU (being the event) fit with THEM (being the company). This leads to the final point..What’s In It For Them?Once the sponsor can see your compatibility. Give them an outline of how your event will benefit them, give them multiple examples in different scopes. It may be financial, social media, gaining clients. Give them the full layout and then ask them what it is they are looking to gain and assure them that they will be a part of the process to ensure you can give positive results. Yay you’ve gained a sponsor! Check in with them throughout the event process from pre to post stages. For any other insights or further help please feel free to contact us at our website! Love, The Collab Events Team Xx

17.01.2022 Business Tip Time tracking is so simple and enlightening, yet making it a daily habit can take some patience and discipline. Time tracking is useful to understand where your time is spent, where you can be more efficient and how long things actually take. All critical information when running a business! ... There are a lot of websites and apps that help you do this such as Asana or Passionplanner but if you are more old school, buying a regular day planner will do the job too! Do you time track your work day? We’d love to hear from you in the comments below! Love, The Collab Events Team Xx

15.01.2022 Platter goals! Not only is @theport_darlingharbour a beautiful venue but look at the mouthwatering grazing table they created for @justanothermummyblog’s launch party! 14.01.2022 3 things you can do if you are feeling overwhelmed#productivityhacks 1 Break the pattern by changing your state. Dance around the office for 10min, slow down and mediate , go for a quick workout, do anything that changes your physiology and get you ‘out of your head’.... 2 Gain control over the situation. Feeling ’out of control’ is one of the major triggers to feeling overwhelmed. Sit down an map out everything that needs to be done. Breakdown each task so that it’s small enough to feel easy to complete. Categories tasks into section - A - B and C. A - urgent and important (start here) B - important but not urgent (do these next) C- not important and not urgent (do these last) 3 Take action straight away. Don’t wait until later, tomorrow or Monday Do something right now - you need to kick off momentum. We tend to plan, plan, plan and plan a little more But unless you actually start taking action nothing will happen and you will be in the exact same spot as you are right now. Start from the top of your list and work your way through - you will be surprised how quickly you will move through the list as soon as you have created momentum You got this xx PS. 13.01.2022 People will forget what you said, people will forget what you did but they will never forget how you made them feel - Maya Angelou Personally this is what I LOVE about events! Because it’s how we make people feel. Yes every experience won’t leave you feeling like you’ve watched an Oscar winning movie however, we do want it to evoke a feeling. We want to create a feeling or emotion that will connect the host/ company or brand to the audience. ... From the moment they hear about the event to long beyond the event day, we make sure our clients focus on building a connection with their audience. As a brand hosting your own live event, you have the incredible opportunity to connect your mission and vision to the attendee journey and the experiences they have. But most importantly, the memories they walk away with. Tell me below, what is one emotion or memory you associate to attending an event? Love, The Collab Events team xx

13.01.2022 Does anyone else sit down to write up their weekly goals with a cup of tea and then 30mins later realise they went down the social media rabbit hole and you don’t know how you got there? ... today I’m happy I did because I got some serious workspace inspo @iarasnei

12.01.2022 Morning lovelies, here is a tip on how to tell more stories in your business Storytelling is one of the most effective marketing strategies out there! Purposeful stories will help your audience connect and build trust with your brand, it can build confidence, motivate change and lead to incredible transformations.... Last night, just before bedtime Shawn and I had this random conversation about telling better stories. Does anyone else have those random discussions with your partner just before you go to bed? I told Shawn about a podcast I’d listened to earlier that day about telling stories and how it’s almost impossible to come up with a good story when you are under pressure. Have you ever felt that? Like you have no good stories to tell? He then said - It’s like when they tell stories on the radio!!! Stick with me here... If the radio host asks people to call in and tell a story about anything. They don’t give the audience any guidelines or are super broad, they get the worst stories ever... The pressure is to intense and the result is never good However, when the radio host tells as story about a lady who once fell asleep at the dentist and then ask people to call in and share the the funniest thing that has happened to them at the dentist, then you get the BEST stories out of people. Okay, so bringing this back to business To tell more stories in your business. Try to narrow it down and be a little more specific. Give yourself story prompts to be more creative What stories will connect with your audience and how can you use the story to teach, entertain or make them think differently? Here are some examples: What’s the most random thing that has happened to you while waiting in line? What did you kids tell you last night that made you laugh? What is your worst holiday memory and what that taught you ? You can also google story prompts to get more ideas if you are lacking creativity. Sometimes the most basic stories can teach us the most Let me know in the comment below, will you start telling more stories in your business? Love, Petra See more

10.01.2022 How to safely host a business event during COVID-19 (QLD specific post) After months of social distancing, hand washing and one million Zoom calls most of us can’t wait to get out of our home office and connect with people in person. Are you planning to kick off your live events again? Here are a few things to think of. ... As the climate is changing rapidly so does the event restrictions around COVID-19, I ask that you please do your own research before making a final decision whether or not you should go ahead with your event. Here is a little update on the current situation relating live business events in Queensland. If you are planning to host an event in a private space or in a venue that does not operate under a COVID safe industry plan or checklist you are currently limited to a maximum of 10 attendees (if you live in a COVID restricted area - in QLD). This includes facilitators and staff members. If this is you, here are a few things to keep in mind: Encourage attendees to keep at least 1.5 metres away from other people when possible especially when they are from different households Encourage attendees to wash their hands regularly or use alcohol-based sanitiser Avoid hugs, kisses and handshakes Ask that anyone with COVID like symptoms do not attend the event If you are planning to host an event with more than 10 people in total you must do so in a venue that is operating under a COVID Safe Industry Plan or a COVID Safe Checklist. If you have fewer than 500 people attending, you do not need approval by local public health units when following a COVID safe Event Checklist As the event organiser, the first thing you want to do is to ensure that the venue you choose for your event is operating under a COVID Safe Event Checklist. Venues may have slightly different restrictions depending on the type of venue (restaurant, function centre, community hall etc.). Your venue manager will know exactly what restrictions they have to follow - make sure you get the details too! How many attendees can you have? Specific rules your venue have put in place What fo you need to provide the venue with? To learn more about the COVID Safe Checklist go to: https://www.covid19.qld.gov.au//covid-safe-event-checklist Finally, I strongly suggest that you are really clear on the terms and conditions of the venue before you sign any contracts or pay a deposit. Hope this helps! Happy planning xx

09.01.2022 Do you consider your attendees basic needs? [ SAVE THIS POST] Have you ever been to a workshop and halfway through you were so hungry that you could no longer concentrate? Or maybe you went to that seminar that you heard people rave about but the room was so hot the only thing you could think of was the makeup slowly melting off your face #queenslandproblems ... Regardless of how amazing and transformational your event is ALWAYS consider your attendees basic needs. If our basic needs are not met, we won’t enjoy the experience... Here are a few things to add to your checklist: Always offer a free, easy to access water station or add water bottles in your goodie bags Serve food if your event is 3+ hours, even if it’s just a snack Ensure the temperature is right. We can’t concentrate if we are too hot or too cold! Consider visibility, nothing frustrates people more then when they can’t see or hear the presentation or entertainment ....that’s what they have paid for! Comfortable seats. Consider how long your attendees will be seated and pick seats that’s fits your event. Picnic style is not always the most appropriate... trust me on this We all crave love and belonging. Make your guests feel welcome when they arrive and add activities to get your audience to interact with each other during the event. Clear communication is key!!! Programs, signs, emails, whatever it takes. Make sure your attendees knows what’s happening next. Clean toilets (and enough of them!) Would love to know, what is really important to you when you attend an event? Comment below Petra xx PS. My online course is launching so soon. 07.01.2022 Be honestHow often do you work on your business? I get it, being a business owner myself I know the struggles of get stuck into working on day-to-day tasks. Managing a full inbox, phone calls, client work and managing teams are all part of running a business and usually business owners wear so many hats that the actual work to grow and scale your business falls behind. My solution? 90-minute power sessions. It is crazy how much you can get done in 90 minutes if you really... choose to focus. The key is to prioritise this work that needs to be done to achieve your bigger business goals. Success lies in the plan! STOP saying to yourself that you don’t say you don’t have time. We all know that you have time for the things you prioritise and what is important to you and your business. Try just 90 minutes a day to work on these activities without disruptions. If you can’t do 90 minutes a day every week day, try 90 minutes every two days or even once a week and build from there. Do I have you intrigued? Try it out and let me know if you love this method just as much as I do! Love, The Collab Events team xx

05.01.2022 Last 90 days of 2019 If you haven’t yet given yourself the space and time to plan for quarter four, now is the time. It’s actually crazy how much can happen in only 3 months and I know you, I know that you want to finish the year strong. ... Here is how I plan my last 90 days: I clarify my vision for the quarter I set clear, realistic and specific goals I map out what needs to happen to get to the vision I break down each key component into bite sized tasks I create a timeline / set deadlines I schedule it and start on task one I set aside time to reflect on my results during the quarter Who else is motivated to make quarter four the best one yet?? Comment below Petra xx @meldixonphotography

05.01.2022 At this moment in time we need to remember this more than ever. With everything going on it’s been harder to have the motivation to get our list of things done before settling down for a very different Christmas. If you are sat at a computer screen, crunching numbers or looking over reports, take a moment to grab a cup of coffee, go for a walk or put some music on and dance! Sometimes to gain clarity to complete the task you need to remove yourself from the work even if it’s ...just for a moment. You may even ask yourself what actually needs to be done in this moment, have we put unrealistic expectations on ourselves? Now more than ever we need to be kind to ourselves. Sending lots of love to everyone, The Collab Events Team Xx

02.01.2022 So you have heard influencer marketing is the way to go... but now what? You are probably already feeling a little overwhelmed and you may think that this is just another thing that will end up in the too hard basket. ... Trust me I know this feeling. With never-ending to-do lists, having to juggle multiple projects and constantly being lectured on what we ‘should be doing’ from the latest business podcast. The pressure is on. But fear not if you own your own brand or are managing someone else’s and are thinking I don’t even know where to start with influencer marketing! Start here. With our 4 tips on where to start when working with influencers: [save this post for later ] 1 Set your objectives. If look back at your collaboration what would you like to see? Increased social media following, traffic to your website or a jump in sales? Evaluating the result will be a whole lot easier if you know what your specific target is. 2 Do the research. This is a super important step! Spend a few hours actively looking for social influencers that align with your brand values and have a following similar to your ideal client. If you find someone that you think is perfect, check if they have worked with similar brands in the past. Make sure they are engaging with their followers. Remember people can buy likes, followers and comments but it’s easy to detect if they have a genuine following by spending a few minutes reading their comments. 3 Connect. Before you reach out establish a relationship. Follow them for a while, comment on their posts. Be genuine, don’t try to sell them anything and show them that you actually like what they are doing. 4 Reach out, be personal and address them by name. I always reach out by email and personal message. Most influencers add their email in their BIO or to the email button below the BIO. However, never send an email using the email button, as it is more likely to end up in spam messages. Remember - People don’t have time to read emails that are pages long, keep it short and sweet. Is there anything holding you back from using influencers in your marketing mix? Let me know below

02.01.2022 Creating Connections helpful tip Create a spreadsheet to note important or special information about the contacts you make. 01.01.2022 I am going to say something rather controversialI LOVE Mondays! Monday is the most disliked day of the week, there are even funny memes and songs about how we universally hate Mondays. Monday is your clean slate, a new day with fresh eyes to organise and set the tone for your week. There have been actual studies that show productivity and creativity levels are at their highest on Monday. So I say jump the fence where the grass is greener because loving Monday can change your whole week. Extra tip: On Friday afternoon create a to do list ready for Monday morning to utilise your day more effectively, ready for any unplanned tasks that arise! It also means you are not spending your weekend remembering things you need to do for the new week ahead.
