25.01.2022 LIKE almost everywhere on the peninsula, the southern end of Collaroy Beach has seen some changes since the older photo was taken in the late 1950s. For one thing, the Norfolk Island pines have grown a fair bit and the commercial development along Pittwater Rd has changed, as has the residential development on the escarpment and on the edge of Collaroy Plateau. But as anyone who has had to walk up Alexander St can attest, its just as steep now as it was back then, which is why youngsters were often to be seen at the foot of the hill hoping to hitch a ride in a car to the top of the hill.
