25.01.2022 In case you missed this announcement from RISE last week, more than 100 musicians have pledged to not perform at any event that includes the participation of any detention industry profiteer! Full media release from RISE below:
25.01.2022 The politicians have let us know how they intend to attack, its up to all of us to build a militant labour movement that is capable of defending all workers. https://redsaidfred.home.blog//the-industrial-relations-w/
25.01.2022 This is a great and concise article from our comrades at Red and Black Notes outlining the foundations laid by Lenin and Trotsky that paved the way for Stalin.
24.01.2022 As Covid cases continue to soar across the city, we must demand the release of prisoners. Punitive measures like we have seen, such as locking down entire facilities and the increased use of solitary confinement, are an inadequate response to a potentially deadly situation.
24.01.2022 At this very moment 54 years ago, August 23rd 1966, Vincent Lingiari and 200 men and women were walking-off Wave Hill Cattle Station. This stand against power, ...privilege and generational abuse of Aboriginal men, women and children will be remembered forever, as a moment that all Australians should reflect on, and celebrate together in unity - Ngumpin Kartiya Karru-la Jintaku-la See more
24.01.2022 Solidarity and love to those inside the hotel prisons Support the ongoing RISE: Refugees, Survivors and Ex-detainees campaign to free these prisoners.

22.01.2022 Cops outta Trades Hall!
22.01.2022 Statement from MALS about the anti-lockdown protests and the state repression.
22.01.2022 As anarchist and antifascist pages are removed and admins banned across Facebook were reminded of how important horizontal organisation is to our anticapitalist and liberatory fight. We know that Facebook has profited from the distribution and boosting of fascist propaganda and conspiracy theories. Through the eyes of Facebooks capitalist monopoly, they claim to be balanced by likening dangerous, unhinged conspiracy theories and fascist propaganda to everyday people worki...ng together to build stronger communities without the oppression of the state. These actions follow the commands of the most powerful people within the US Government, including the President himself. The state and capital have always, and will always, organise together to crush grassroots movements that challenge their hierarchy. The focus of the recent purge was more high-profile U.S. pages with a greater reach. Few were surprised that Facebook took this step in removing a number of pages. However, it is a blow to anarchists being able to reach people with our ideas. While Collective Action has been quiet online recently, we have been participating in mutual aid programs, reading groups, workers organising and working to build other networks to provide support post-Covid-19 restrictions. We encourage people to join our mailing list as an immediate alternative in case further bans take place. You can join by following this link: https://us10.list-manage.com/subscribe We would also encourage people to connect with other local groups online, be it mutual aid networks, other Anarchist groups, follow pages on Twitter, engage in Discord servers. While all of these are temporary in nature and face the same risks as Facebook, its important to stay in contact while we can not meet in person, to come out of this period with strong contacts and reading to resume face-to-face organising. 20.01.2022 Latest from Portland by Shane Burley: "If anything pushes these protests to a radical direction, it will be the repeated assaults from officers dressed in military fatigues with their weapons of urban warfare. The only option for protesters is to put as much pressure as possible to end these occupations, and with the tensions raised they have the possibility of pushing political concerns with the deployment of federal agents and into the very idea of policing itself. This cauldron may be what is required for an abolitionist politic to take hold and make gains." https://truthout.org//if-we-dont-want-armed-feds-occupyin/
19.01.2022 "Our messages are now starting to resonate to be anti-racist is to be anti-colonial"
18.01.2022 Important information for those attending the Stop Black Deaths in Custody - Justice for George Floyd #BLM rally tomorrow.
18.01.2022 Land defender Adrian Burragubba: "Were taking back control of our land, thats what were doing here. Were doing it because weve been ignored, as the original Wangan and Jagalingou people, weve been ignored through this whole process,"
17.01.2022 "DecrimQLD & Vixen Collective are joining forces to bring you the facts & lived experiences of sex workers, explaining how licensing has FAILED in Queensland & Victoria. This online forum peels back the many layers of this failure (economic, health, safety) and the very direct impacts on sex workers." Online event this Wednesday!
17.01.2022 The overwhelming experience for workers undertaking farm work for visa requirements is exploitative and so often includes sexual harassment. https://mobile.abc.net.au//backpacker-farm-worke/12545294
17.01.2022 We unreservedly support the RISE demands that every refugee be freed and provided with the necessary support.
16.01.2022 Media attention has largely shifted away from the torturous conditions that the Australian state continues to hold refugees in. Arash Rahnama's letter is a harrowing reminder of the brutality being enacted.
14.01.2022 This colonial state continues to kill Aboriginal people in custody. Prisons must be abolished
14.01.2022 "The Australian border like all nation-state borders is not a simple line of demarcation that can be clearly drawn on a map. State borders are complex institutions that exert themselves not only through walls and other physical boundaries, but also through a myriad of more insidious forms of control, not just at the edges of territory, but all over the world." This is a great analysis by Sarah Keenan of what the Australian border truly is.
14.01.2022 The reliance of police throughout the pandemic has shown the importance of defunding the police and funding public health and services. VicPol budget has increased by $1billion (40%) under the Andrews Government. Its clear that any situation will look like it needs a police response when thats the only tool you have.
13.01.2022 As many of us are struggling through the impacts of the pandemic and the consequences of living in a society that values profit over human life, rest assured that parasitic job agencies continue to rake in massive profits, even when theres an absolute job shortage.
13.01.2022 Surprise, surprise! If businesses can't exploit you, they aren't interested in hiring you!
12.01.2022 The Australian SAS are designed to be a well oiled imperialist death cult and this is shows the kind of people they attract and the kind of culture they cultivate. CW for violence, murder, misogyny, racism etc.
11.01.2022 Feed from the Embassy.
10.01.2022 For those interested in learning more about abolition, the most recent Intercepted podcast has an excellent two-part interview with Ruth Wilson Gilmore. Gilmore has been at the forefront of the abolition movement for decades and provides a comprehensive introduction to abolition. https://theintercept.com//ruth-wilson-gilmore-makes-the-c/
10.01.2022 New article from our mates over at Red and Black Notes on the political economy of Spain during the revolution.
10.01.2022 If you can't make it out to country this weekend but have the financial capacity, please consider donating to the Djap Wurrung Protectors fund to keep help those on the front lines.
09.01.2022 Update and call for support from Djap Wurrung
09.01.2022 Another example of how capitalism and racism are inherently connected across this continent - and beyond. The shady, little known company Paladin was granted the Federal Government contract to run the off shore concentration camps on Manus Island. They ultimately profited $1,300,000 a week to oversee and enact torture on thousands of men who were held indefinitely in the Manus Prison. Racism and capitalism were the foundation of the colony, and little has changed in the subsequent 230 years.
09.01.2022 Red and Black Notes and Melbourne Anarchist Communist Group are hosting a discussion with a comrade from Seattle Black Rose / Rosa Negra about the current uprising. This is a great opportunity to hear directly from an anarchist on the group.
08.01.2022 Make sure you keep your calendar free and follow the event for updates!
08.01.2022 You can never trust cops or rely on the injustice system. This scumbag leaked the personal details of a domestic violence survivor to her ex partner and has just had his conviction overturned.
08.01.2022 "Victoria police and SES have just taken bags and bags of donated food meant for residents to unknown location. Some residents were waiting inside for this food, and are now going to to without." Such helpy helpers.
07.01.2022 Excellent statement from RISE putting the apology for a limited number of Australia’s war crimes into perspective...
06.01.2022 Powerful words from Sissy Eileen Austin. These words need to inspire all of us to action if we're to stop the continuing desecration of Djap Wurrung land.
05.01.2022 For those who were at IMARC last year and copped a face of pepper spray. Ken-Flem are looking for people to register their interest for a potential class action.
05.01.2022 Reminder that the Black Fire - A Taste of History series is kicking off today with three incredible speakers. Gary Foley: "Educate yourself, then educate the people around you"
05.01.2022 Our hearts go out to the family of Tanya Day who have shown incredible strength throughout this long process only to have the state avoid any form of justice or accountability. Please read their full statement Solidarity
05.01.2022 Helpful outline of what we already knew, that marginalised workers are bearing the brunt of the current pandemic. The bosses and government intend to use this crisis to further entrench the neoliberal casualisation of us workers leading to greater precarity of the working class.
04.01.2022 Great article addressing workers rights in the hospitality industry. While we're on the subject, we reckon you should check out Radical Coffee at Trades Hall next time you're in the area!
03.01.2022 Discussion and analysis on how United Workers Union activists kept employees safe at Spotless, as the bosses were trying to force people back to work.
03.01.2022 Great article discussing the guerrilla tactics used in resisting colonial domination by Aboriginal warriors on Anwan country.
02.01.2022 This economic structure is so unnecessarily cruel. By the end of this month 1,750,000 people are likely to skip meals and nearly 900,000 people will be living on less than $14 a day after rent. All the while, the stock market has increased 25% since 23 March, when the initial restrictions were announced. This is completely disconnected from the reality of everyday people. ... The state needs to ensure that the capitalist economy continues to function, and will sacrifice as many people as they believe they can in the process of funneling more money to the wealthy.
02.01.2022 Rio Tinto planned for 6 years to destroy a site that contained "the highest archaeological significance in Australia".
01.01.2022 This draconian measure of trying to rip every ounce of autonomy away from refugees imprisoned in Australia will come up again in August. The mental health of many people imprisoned would be dramatically impacted if phones were confiscated from them.
01.01.2022 Sad news to wake up to this morning. Rest in Power David We need more people like him to make our world a better place.
