23.01.2022 IMMEDIATE ROAD CLOSURE AND REPAIR WORKS Wilson Drive, Hill Top [Will affect Colo Vale traffic also] Wingecarribee Shire Council will temporarily close Wilson Drive in Hill Top from 4.30pm Monday 9 March to undertake urgent repairs to fix a broken sewage main. Council crews need to temporarily close Wilson Drive north of Church Avenue in Colo Vale for approximately six hours to safely access and repair a broken rising sewage main.... Prior to 4.30pm the road will be reduced to one-way alternating traffic with traffic controllers in place directing motorists. After 4.30pm the road will be completely closed to both north and southbound traffic at 1339 Wilson Drive. There will be no through traffic. Residents and motorists wishing to access Hill Top or Balmoral after 4.30pm will need to continue north via the Hume Motorway and onto the Old Hume Highway in Bargo via Remembrance Driveway. Likewise, southbound motorists will also be diverted onto the Hume Motorway and south onto Church Avenue in Colo Vale. Council apologises for any temporary delays. The cause of the fault is yet to be determined. For more information contact Council on phone 4868 0888.

08.01.2022 Colo Vale News for April

04.01.2022 As you may be aware, the local council are looking to include Wensleydale as an investigation area into future housing. This investigation indicates that over 500 new homes plus a shopping village will eventually be built. We would like you to contact our local council and indicate your objections as I'm sure you, like many others in Colo Vale do not want to see Wensleydale as a sea of new houses. Below is an example of what you may like to send to the following email add...resses: [email protected], [email protected], [email protected], [email protected], [email protected], [email protected], [email protected], [email protected] [email protected] [email protected]. Edit: you can use this to reach them all [email protected] Dear Council and Councillors, I am providing feedback with respect to Wensleydale being included in the WSC Local Housing Strategy and Local Strategic Planning Statement. The process promised by council to hold ‘a series of information sessions’ has not occurred because of the COVID restrictions. I accept this is not the council's fault but I feel this has massively disadvantaged all the residents impacted by the council putting forward Wensleydale as a proposed site for development. No opportunity has been afforded to us in the community to attend a public forum in order to inform, discuss, debate, question and consider the impact this proposal will have on the local community including Hilltop and all the northern villages. I live in Colo Vale because of the village/country character and the relationships formed with like minded country folk. A development such as Wensleydale will totally destroy the atmosphere of the village feel and ruin the gateway to the Southern Highlands. Any development of Wensleydale will impact on the heritage buildings on the site. It will destroy habitat and increase bushfire risk. Destruction of primary agricultural land is in direct contrast to the principals of preservation of the natural beauty of the surrounding land of the village of Colo Vale. The current demands on our road systems which includes traffic from the villages north of Colo Vale are at maximum capacity. Further development to the east of the village will have a major detrimental affect overall. The proposed retail and services centre is not needed nor wanted as the local business satisfies the need of the villagers. A short drive to Mittagong meets all other requirements. There are many additional negatives that development of Wensleydale will have on the Colo Vale Local community. My feedback is NO PROPOSED DEVELOPMENT OF THE WENSLEYDALE PROPERTY PLEASE. I am confident there are alternate areas which suit proposed development where local residents control the type and density of future development around the Colo Vale village.

02.01.2022 LOOP LINE UPGRADE Transport Heritage NSW and the NSW Rail Museum are pleased to announce the first stage of funding has now been received as part of the N...SW Government’s commitment of $5.5 million to upgrade the loop line. This will enable works to be undertaken on motorising the points at Picton to allow safer and easier access from the loop line to the main line, meaning more efficient access for our heritage trains to the broader NSW rail network. It will also allow for a more detailed engineering assessment and scope of works to be developed for upgrading the line, particularly the section from Buxton to Colo Vale. We will keep you updated as works progress. SJB Photography Nathaniel Smith MP Visit Wollondilly
