09.01.2022 A heart functioning at JUST 30%!!!! Heart failure/ Cardiomyopathy... Remziye has been a ‘Train With Me’ friend & member for some 8+years and for the past 2 years has been/ still is learning about some scary changes to her heart. Read her experience here, as well as how and why she can still grace us with her presence : -Experiencing some pain in my right shoulder blade (expecting muscular), that moved to my left, then lower back and finally the chest area (still muscular...) my GP sent me for an X-ray & ultrasound. -Nothing showed so a stress test next and after walking on the treadmill for 40 SECONDS... it was stopped with the news that I was about to have a heart attack. -This diagnosis now 2 years ago -Medicated with tablets, reviewed every 6 months -Potassium tablets taken 3 times a day, if level drops below 3 need a drip-monthly blood tests to keep an eye on it -An iron infusion was a new experience lately as the iron tablets weren't enough. -Diet is also important-including high potassium foods, good fats, fruit, veg and lean meats. With exercise, my specialist has said not to strain or put too much pressure on the heart-the heart monitor helps on my fit bit and just by me monitoring how I feel with certain exercises and knowing when to slow it down, use lighter weights, take a lesser option or a short break. Training helps me mentally and relieves stress as well as keeps me fit which helps with my condition. Our final 4 week Challenge for 2020 is complete and haven’t there been some heart filling , mind blowing , souls soaring changes Here are just a few: Megan - with a total reduction of 16kgs or 12.82% of total body weight (challenge 1 WINNER, 2nd place in challenge 2) No muscle lost Carly - Challenge 2 WINNER with 5.5kgs or 8.31% of total body weight....
