18.01.2022 "Adam's reached his crowdfunding goal, I don't need to hit this link https://www.pozible.com/profile/adam-purcell-2 to contribute to his Pozible campaign - I'll... just buy a copy of his book later!" If you're thinking this, sadly, you're wrong! Yes, the stretch target has been reached, but that only covers the cost of printing 100 copies of the book... and I've already sold most of them. There won't be many spare copies at the end of the crowdfunding campaign. You'll probably miss out! "Oh no, what can I do?" Luckily for you, there's an easy way to avoid disappointment. All you have to do is jump onto Pozible now, and pre-order your very own copy. Isn't that great? But be quick - the campaign MUST END ON THURSDAY! "Phew! OK, I'll go make a pledge now!" #crowdfunding #stretchgoal #MelbourneCeiliCamera #MusicAndFriendship Comhaltas Melbourne Comhaltas

08.01.2022 Another man who has left an amazing legacy. He really catapulted concertina playing into what it is today. 10times All Ireland winner Chris Droney passed away o...ver the weekend aged 95. What made his playing more unique and extraordinary was that he was an exponent of the inside row, as opposed to the middle row which most Anglo players adopt these days. Just a beautiful musician. 02.01.2022 On this day in 1939 William Butler Yeats left this world. (13 June 1865 28 January 1939) May he be resting in peace. Yeats made Ireland and her folklore par...t of a central theme within his poetry and his words continue to bring alive our stories for generations to come. What a beautiful gift he has left us. William Butler Yeats was an Irish poet and one of the foremost figures of 20th century literature. He was born in Dublin, the son of painter John Butler Yeats, he spent much of his childhood in County Sligo which was a huge source of inspiration for him, not least the beautiful Lake Isle of Inisfree. He studied poetry in his youth and from an early age was fascinated by both Irish legends and the occult. Yeats was a major player in the Celtic Revival which endevoured to raise awareness of the culture of Ireland. He co-founded the Abbey Theatre where he served as its chief during its early years. In 1923, he was awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature as the first Irishman so honoured. The love of his life was Irish revolutionary Maud Gonne who rebuked his marriage proposals on a number of occasions. At 52, he married 25 year old Georgie Hyde-Lees (18921968). Despite his love of Maud Gonne the marriage of Yeats and Hyde-Lees was a happy one producing two children. Yeats is buried in Drumcliff, County Sligo.
