25.01.2022 Welcoming Valdis Dnis who has joined the Committee for Adelaide in his capacity as the leader of All Electric Formula E Racing for Adelaide. A group which is working towards bringing the new global all-electric FIA Formula E racing series to Adelaide along with a Festival of E-motion. The goal is to build upon Adelaides proud history of leadership in both clean-tech and automotive engineering to accelerate our state as a leader. I love the Committee for Adelaides driv...e to make our state an even better place to live, learn and work in, and its strong track record to turn new ideas into reality. Its membership contains many of the states movers and shakers whom I enjoy learning from and am impressed how we can help each other to achieve more, Valdis said. 25.01.2022 Congratulations to SKYCITY Adelaide Casino for all their hard work which will see it reopen from Monday with up to 950 employees returning to work. This is also great news for the vibrancy of #Adelaide's CBD which is continuing to gather pace as restrictions ease.

25.01.2022 We are proud to have such a diverse group of members who are part of the Committee for Adelaide and that includes the Adelaide Symphony Orchestra. Here is a great feature story on Managing Director Vincent Ciccarello and how his love and passion of music began.

24.01.2022 New winter festival Illuminate Adelaide will take over Adelaides city streets, laneways and buildings from July 2021 with light, art installations, immersive technology, music, performance, discussions and ideas along with new technologies including artificial intelligence, space and defence also playing a key role.

24.01.2022 Work has officially started on the next phase of Commercial & Generals WEST master planned community a $20 million facility which will incorporate the City of Charles Sturt Community hub, a café, medical centre, allied health services and more. A great project so far that keeps getting better.

23.01.2022 Welcoming the Leaders Institute of South Australia as a member of the Committee for Adelaide. The Leaders Institute of South Australia develops impactful leaders by encouraging self-awareness and providing opportunities to experience different perspectives. A not-for-profit association, their sole aim over more than 20 years has been to develop leaders with the skills and passion to create an extraordinary, sustainable and vibrant city and State. Their work, particularly through the Governors Leadership Foundation program, aligns perfectly with the vision of the Committee for Adelaide and we cannot wait to work with them moving forward. 23.01.2022 Another great step forward for Thomas Foods International after receiving planning approval for their abattoir re-build which once complete is expected to employ 2000 people directly and create another estimated 4500 jobs indirectly.

22.01.2022 At our Board planning day at the start of the year (pre pandemic) we committed to an ambition to help Adelaide become the world’s first well city. It has been great to support WellCity Adelaide with their series of roundtable discussions to organise a vision for #Adelaide as a city of wellbeing and we look forward to progressing this further.

22.01.2022 South Australias Designated Area Migration Agreements (DAMA) are a great idea but with onerous application procedures, high fees and other barriers, we were always concerned they would not have the desired impact. So in 2019 and in conjunction with Migration Solutions, we submitted a paper to the Department of Home Affairs and presented both written and verbal evidence at the Federal Joint Standing Committee on Migrations Inquiry into Migration in Regional Australia calling for major concessions. The low DAMA uptake shows just how important urgent reforms are needed.

22.01.2022 Committee for Adelaide 2021 Planning day is underway and there has been a bit to unpack. Always a refreshing process with plenty of opportunities for the year to come.

20.01.2022 Congratulations to our CEO Jodie van Deventer for being announced as Chair of Adelaide United's first Women's Football Committee. Following Australia and New Zealands successful bid to host the 2023 FIFA Womens World Cup, we will strive to help inspire the next generation of local girls," Jodie said.

20.01.2022 During some of our most uncertain times throughout March to May 2020 the Commissioner for Children and Young People SA asked 300 children and young people to share their experiences of COVID-19 and hopes for the future. Understanding these concerns, and considering their reflections will enable us to confidently invest in their futures. 17.01.2022 Thank you Andrew Leunig for a fascinating and thought-provoking discussion with our members. With our nation financialising most things, adopting a shallow rather than complex industry mix and people buying things they often dont need, the stage has been set for a massive shakeup. Lets adopt a design (rather than economic) led recovery as we reject dumb forms of globalisation and open our eyes to opportunities such as a renewable energy grid, use of SA Super for development opportunities and even creating the best public education system on the planet. Among the numerous ideas presented designed to stimulate debate, Andrews message is clear: COVID-19 has opened the way for bold thinking and we need to step up and create our own future.

17.01.2022 London-based Agent General for SA for the past 14 years, Bill Muirhead, said he had never experienced such interest in expats exploring moving back to SA in more than 30 years of living overseas. It's great to be welcoming such talented expats back to Adelaide.

16.01.2022 The Committees for Cities and Regions Australia and New-Zealand network has today called for a transparent and integrated road to recovery plan. Clear and consistent standards for safely opening our economies is a priority. Roadmaps on infrastructure, red-tape, planning, private sector investment, marketing and digital security are also imperative. We need confidence on these issues as we work together on our Road to Recovery.

15.01.2022 SA borders to reopen to travellers from WA, NT and TAS as coronavirus restrictions are eased helping to fast track South Australia's road to recovery.

15.01.2022 Thank you to Neville Power, Chair of the National COVID-19 Coordination Commission and South Australian Senator Anne Ruston, Minister for Families and Social Services for participating in our latest webinar. We heard from both on the challenges that we must overcome as well as the many opportunities that will arise for businesses as we enter a new phase in this pandemic.

15.01.2022 Great to see #SouthAustralia become the first state to ban single-use plastics in Australia.

15.01.2022 In a first for a South Australian council the City of Adelaide is now officially powered by nature as operations move to a 100 per cent renewable electricity contract. Congratulations for this achievement which brings #Adelaide one step closer to becoming a carbon neutral city.

Arup is an independent firm of designers, planners, engineers, architects, consultants and technical specialists, working across every aspect of todays built environment. Together they help their clients solve their most complex challenges turning exciting ideas into tangible reality as they strive to find a better way and shape a better world. I see private and non-government organisations as having an important rol...e to play in helping shape the conversation around public policy and how Adelaide could change. The Committee for Adelaide provides an invaluable platform for combining the diverse expertise of organisations across many sectors and applying it to the betterment of our city and I'm really excited for myself and Arup to now become involved in this, SA Transport Planning Leader Daniel Osborne. 12.01.2022 It was great to see so many of South Australias top influencers responding to Dr Sam Shahins call to use their influence for the good of the State and shows the passion and commitment they have for #SouthAustralia. The event marked the beginning of a process, not the end, and the Committee for Adelaide will work through the ideas with the top 50 so they can be collectively prioritised and implemented for the benefit of our state.

12.01.2022 An excellent report by Ross Garnaut who says now is the right time for high levels of investment in the low-carbon future. When it comes to fighting climate change, he also believes #SouthAustralia is the best equipped jurisdiction in the country.

11.01.2022 Neil Sachse was one of the founding board members of the Committee for Adelaide and his passing is felt by us all. A giant both on and off the field, he devoted his life to raising awareness around disability issues and spinal injuries. Our condolences to Neil's family.

The Committee will also include representatives from KPMG Australia, Deloitte , PwC Australia, Ernst & Young, The University of Adelaide, University of South Australia and Flinders University.
