12.01.2022 Funeral details for the late RWBro John Smallman PGSB are as follows. Friday 11th October at 11.30 am at the Salvation Army in Long st Leongatha. Then to the Inverloch Cemetery At 12.30-1pm for burial. At the Inverloch Cemetery, a Masonic Graveside service will be conducted. All available Brethren are encouraged and invited to attend to pay their respects.

12.01.2022 Morwell Thursday night - making Masonic history. We have a visit from the Yarram Mark and Gippsland chapter ON THE Same night. Never before happened in Victorian Masonic History. The guest speaker will be there indomitable RWBro Richard Elkington DGM. Be there or be a square.

10.01.2022 70 year jewel presentation to James Jim Geary. Commonwealth lodge for its December meeting met at the Mirboo North pub for a meal with Brethren, family and guests. Even the MW GM RWBro Keith T Murray turned up with Fiona. Norm Geary and Keith Murray gave a talk on Jim’s life and Masonic career. Keith presented Jim with a 70 year Jewel but then dropping a bomb shell, elevating Jims Masonic Rank to RWBro James F Geary PGJW. This Elevation of Conferred Grand Rank that Jim received was the highest position Keith As Grand Master could Bestow to Jim, for tribute for Jim’s community and Masonic commitment through his life. Food donations and the proceeds of the raffle that were collected on the night will be going to the Leongatha Salvation Army for the Salvation Army Christmas Cheer Appeal.

05.01.2022 What a great night for our 2nd running of the Commonwealth Lodge Melbourne Cup. The night was run by Andrew Geary and Robert Billing. There were some 50 people present and representatives from Masonic Brethren, Men’s Shed, Ambulance, Lions, and plenty of other good men and ladies and children. The Auction was conducted by Rob Ould from Alex Scott and co. The winner being Bob Essler taking home the Trophy and a $100 Woolworths gift certificate and a choice of one of our fresh ...food hampers. 2nd place being the DGM Richard Elkington, 3rd being Ron Campbell from the Leongatha Mens Shed. Those who missed a horse in the Auction were able to enter raffle for a hamper, donated by IGA Mirboo North. That winner being Ron Davis. Winners of Fashions on the field were by Graham Gully’s wife and Children. The night raised money to the valve of near $1500 that will go back into the Community. Thanks for everyone for attending and contributing to make it a successful event. Thanks to our sponsors Woolworths and IGA. And Last place in the Cup was Andrew Geary who received a Hair Cut, all in good spirits. Andrews horse may have run better if he was not riding it backwards. It was great to see the room full of people, all having a great time, going to a worthy cause. See more

05.01.2022 RIP WBro John Gilbert Smallman PGSB. John passed away on 06/10/2019 Sunday Morning. John was a valued member of this lodge. He was initiated in Commonwealth Lodge on 03/02/1958. Passed and Raised not long after at Commonwealth. John held most offices within the Lodge and was Worshipful Master in 1977. John was given Conferred Grand Rank earlier this year of Past Grand Standard Bearer. John was also a member of other Lodges and Masonic Orders. Pictured is John receiving his 60 year Jewel for his Masonic Service from the DGM RWBro Richard Elkington. John will be surly missed but not forgotten. Our sincere condolences to Fay Smallman and Family.
