23.01.2022 Great news! The implementation of Stage 3 of the Planning and Design Code has been delayed until next year by the new Minister for Planning, Hon Vickie Chapman. CASA President Christel Mex, and committee member Elizabeth Vines OAM, met with the Minister last Friday putting the case for stronger heritage protection, careful urban infill, and much better consultation. And re...member when Phase 2 (rural) ‘went live’ on 31st July 2020, we were assured that it was all ‘sweetness and light’, trouble free, and ready to go. Here are some comments from the Agenda of the Berri Barmera Council Meeting held yesterday: ‘Unfortunately, the P & D Code and the Development Assessment Portal are not delivering the modernisation, efficiencies, service delivery and simplicity that we expected or were promised.’ ‘The DA Portal is much more complex, cumbersome and time consuming than staff were led to believe....’ ‘THe Public Notification tool is not working, therefore any application needing notification is on hold until there is a fix by Plan SA.’ ‘The P&D Code is vague and generates a lot of policies that are not applicable, which is time consuming for staff and confusing for applicants.’ ‘.....there is no integration or automation of systems and it is now evident that there has been a complete lack of testing by Plan SA....’. ‘These sentiments are felt similarly by all regional Councils in SA’

'The former husband of a television newsreader is making another attempt to bulldoze the home she occupies with their two young sons.
