19.01.2022 In the lead up to International Womens Day this Sunday, were shining a spotlight on some of the women at the SA State Emergency Service (SASES) this week. The...y will share their experience of what its like to work and/or volunteer for the SASES, as well as what they would say to women out there who are thinking about joining the SASES. Say hello to Heidi, a volunteer and the Unit Business Coordinator at our Clare SES Unit. As a volunteer at the Clare State Emergency Service, I have learned so many new skills. Not only are these skills vital in my role as a first responder, but it also helps me in my day-to-day life, she says. Yes, it can be challenging but the rewards outweigh those times. Helping those in my community is a strong motivator for me and, at the end of the day, knowing I have helped maintain their safety and wellbeing during some difficult times has helped me grow and become the person I am todaya very proud member of the SES. For those women who are considering becoming an SES volunteer, there are so many benefitslearning hands on skills, free national-accredited training and connecting with the community. You will become a part of a highly-skilled and supportive team and make lifelong friendships with some amazing people. You can give as much or as little of your time as youre able to maintain your work and life balance. You wont regret one moment. I sure dont. #IWD2020 #EachforEqual

16.01.2022 SA State Emergency Service We have received a significant amount of enquiries recently about how you can help the community and we appreciate every single one and want to help you do just that. While we know many of you want to volunteer with us on an ongoing basis, we are aware that a large number of people are interested in helping out with the current emergencies but not to volunteer on an ongoing basis. Volunteering SA&NT are the state-wide volunteer registration point fo...r spontaneous emergency volunteers for the current emergency situations. This means that individuals register their interest and capacity on how they could assist once a disaster reaches the recovery phase (i.e. admin skills, clean up, catering, machinery, restoration, etc.) which we know can take up to months or even years. This is your best opportunity to support the communities affected by the current emergencies. You can register your interest to spontaneously volunteer by visiting the Volunteering SA&NT website. You can also register via downloading the WeDo volunteering app or calling Volunteering SA&NT on (08) 8221 7177. https://www.volunteeringsa-nt.org.au//spontaneous-emergenc
