24.01.2022 The situation in South Australia is rapidly changing with relation to COVID-19. At Community Living Australia our priority is the safety and wellbeing of the people we support and our team. We continue to carefully monitor the advice from SA Health and have made the following decisions from today until 30 November: ... - Day Option services will be centre-based until 30 November. - We will request people visiting any of our sites and accommodation services to not enter and get tested if they are exhibiting symptoms if they have visited the locations of concern that SA Health publish from time to time. - We will work with our office-based employees to ensure their safety whilst working. - We will work with clients to undertake only necessary community and social access such as medical appointments and grocery shopping. We appreciate the measures we put in place may be frustrating for some. We must introduce these measures to ensure the safest possible environment for the vulnerable people we support and our team. Please continue to wash/sanitise your hands regularly, keep 1.5m distance from others wherever possible and clean frequently touched surfaces. If you have any questions regarding this update, please contact the Community Living Australia COVID-19 Response Team on 8536 5888. Thank you for your continued support. Please stay safe.

14.01.2022 Happy World Kindness Day from Community Living Australia! We couldn’t think of anything better than giving away SA’s own FruChocs in Rundle Mall this morning with people we support, some of our staff and our friends from FIVEaa. The Community Living Australia team and people we support are undertaking random acts of kindness across South Australia today.... The people we support and our team get a real buzz out of getting around the day. They tell us they love giving back to the community, feeling valued and enjoy meeting new people. It is also wonderful to put smiles on the faces of people in our local communities in the hope that we start an enduring trend that everyone jumps on board with random acts of kindness don’t have to be hard or cost anything but they do leave a lasting impression. 2020 has been especially hard for people. The pandemic, world events and events closer to home have negatively impacted many of us. In talking through what is happening around us, the people we support said they wanted to share kindness and happiness. We thought this week was as good a week as any to focus on putting smiles on the faces of others. Helping people feel good about themselves and supporting people live their best life is what Community Living Australia aims for.

11.01.2022 As we continue doing random acts of kindness across the state in the lead up to World Kindness Day this Friday 13 November, we were at Schinella's Your Local Market this morning from 9:30 - 11:00am handing out beautiful sunflowers to Schinella's beautiful customers. The reaction from some of the people was priceless and just reinforced how positive kindness can be for both the giver and the receiver. Remember, sometimes it only takes a smile to make someone's day :). Pass on... that kindness. We will continue to keep you updated as the kindness continues for the rest of the week around the state. 02.01.2022 Last week, our Murray Magpies made us proud, competing with 8 other teams from around Adelaide at the Tri State Games SA Track & Field Event. The Tri State Games is an annual sporting event for adults with disability living in South Australia, Victoria and New South Wales. Around 300 athletes usually attend each year and compete in a variety of sporting disciplines over a week of competition. Due to Covid-19, the event was cancelled in Cobram this year; however, the Committ...ee decided to hold a one-day athletics event in Port Adelaide for all South Australian based teams. Teams competed in two track and one field event. Eight teams from around Adelaide and surrounding districts attended with approximately 200 athletes competing in a range of events. COVID-19 safety measures were enforced and each event had restricted numbers to keep everyone safe. Eight athletes from our Murray Magpies attended with each athlete coming home with at least two medals. A great day was had by all, catching up with old friends and meeting new athletes. Congratulations to our athletes and a big thank you to our staff and volunteers who helped make the day possible.
