16.01.2022 Cont... The Coffin Club were wonderful: they pitched in and finished the coffin off for me while I was in Hobart experiencing the most dreaded experience; that of my wife Robyn, being slowly and inevitably inducted into death. After it was all over, I decided to carry on with what she requested of me; to make my own coffin. I did this. I don't for one moment imagine that making the coffin hastened her death. It was just very fortuitous that I had the coffin (basically) ...just before she died. I saved myself at least $1400.00 but in the process of making the coffin, I slowly became increasingly more at ease with the reality of death. Every time I worked on her coffin, I became more and more OK with dying. My coffin now stands on its head in my living room, with the chosen lining material placed on top of it, waiting for the time when I die.... my daughters can then line the coffin, ready for my funeral and cremation"
