23.01.2022 Bruce French has learnt a lot over the last 5 decades . He has catalogues more than 31,000 edible plants and most importantly their nutritional qualities. That almost every plant from every country in earth. Can you possibly get your head around that sheer volume if inquiry. What motivates such commitment you may ask ? I’m not trying to make fame or fortune. I’m interested in hungry kids not dying before they get to school. His work has been focussed on looking and learning about local plants because they are most often more nutritious than introduced ones . Knowledge of native plants has in too many regions been lost and not passed down through generations and his work has been about uncovering and regenerating the circulation of this valuable information.

23.01.2022 The seeds of enthusiasm for home-grown food may have been sown, but sustaining this is essential. Urban farming has much to offer in the wake of the pandemic. It could help communities boost the resilience of their fresh fruit and vegetable supplies, improve the health of residents and help them lead more sustainable lifestyles.

22.01.2022 To provide our local community here on Bruny Island with seasonal food that is grown 100 per cent organic on a small scale farm, and for them to come into this space and to connect with their food, I think it's just magic. It's beautiful,"

22.01.2022 We should never underestimate the capacity of a community garden to meet the needs of individuals. By spending time in the great outdoors, meeting like-minded people, keeping physically fit and connecting with community, it’s a wonderful meeting place where people care for each other and share in a way that benefits everyone.

20.01.2022 What do you think?

15.01.2022 Planning for the long-term There are no down sides to gardening. It’s good for your health, your wellbeing, your hip pocket if you grow your own organic fruit and veg, your planet and your connection to the cycles of nature,.

13.01.2022 It doesn't have to be expensive, is what I've learned. And you don't have to be a good gardener.

12.01.2022 City of Wollongong has just released its verge gardening guidelines and like those councils that already allow this public space gardening, Wollongong is helping build national momentum and accessibility for residents to garden in their neighbourhoods. With every local council that allows the growing of gardens on streetside nature strips, another piece in the puzzle of local biodiversity corridors is connected. Verge gardens are a massive community resource.

10.01.2022 Happy 11th anniversary @milsoncommunitygarden! Our garden principles are still much the same as our founders set out and we have grown into one of the most loved community gardens in Sydney. This could not have been achieved without our dedicated and wonderful group of volunteers past and present and generous support from Council. Thank you so much everyone! Happy gardening.

04.01.2022 Imagine how much more of our food could be grown right where we are, if only we had the room. Tomorrow, Sunday 9AM AEST, join Costa Georgiadis on Facebook Live for an important conversation about overcoming barriers and facilitating access to land. He'll be joined by: - Ben Liney of Cultivating Community... - Dan Tatton of 3000acres - Susan Laukens of Knox Community Gardens Society Inc - Lou Ridsdale of @foodisfreelaneway #foodsystems #sustainablefoodsystems #foodsystemsaustralia #urbanagriculture #ediblegardening #growyourown #growyourfood #gardentotable

03.01.2022 Every neighbourhood should have one!

02.01.2022 In the backyard of his 500-square-metre rental property, biologist James Stanistreet has created a garden capable of feeding his family of four and many more.

01.01.2022 Our wonderful president Naomi Lacey recently took part in the NT Writers' Centre Festival 2020 as part of the 'Tropical Permaculture from Timor Leste' event. You can catch up on the recording of the livestream below.
