25.01.2022 Dear all UTAS Kendo Club members, With regards to the recent news regarding the Coronavirus that is happening all over the world, UTAS Kendo Club and Hobart Kendo Club will not be training until April. All details are in the email that has been sent out to all members. This also includes in the upcoming Kyu grading. Please take care of yourself, and self isolate. However, we will not be best by a virus. We will work together and communicate throughout this time. If you are ...unwell, stay indoor and self-isolate. Reach out to us if you need any assistance through this difficult and trying time. Do not go out if you are sick. Other University Kendo Clubs in Australia are doing the same, and we care about our members. When this is all over, we will be back. We will be stronger and better. We are Tasmanian Devils and Tigers, and we will come back strong in Kendo. Take this time to meditate and remember the advice from the sensei in the Club. With much love, UTAS Kendo Club

21.01.2022 Good day everyone, At UTAS Kendo Club, we take our members' health and safety very seriously. We aim to promote the art and love of Kendo through a friendly and supportive community in Tasmania. However, with the rise of Coronavirus, our members have unfortunately been subjected to racial abuse in Hobart CBD, and in Rosny Park. As a community we will not tolerate racism, discrimination or bullying and would like to remind all members that we are here for you. If you have exp...erienced any of these unwanted incidents, please do not be afraid to come forward to us. The club and the university are here to support you, and speaking up can help prevent more of the same cases occurring in Tasmania. We have spoken to the the University's Safe and Fair Community Unit, who have responded by providing a list of options for students: a) Report the incidents to the University Safe and Fair Community Unit on the UTAS website. b) Report the incidents to Police, TUU Advocates can provide some assistance on this matter. c) If you are affected by this recent event, please access the University counselling services for further support. d) There are also other support services available on the UTAS website, and students can access them, including personal security. The TUU has also responded by condemning by any instances of violence or intimidation directed towards students, and more works are on the way. We would like to advise our members that both UTAS Kendo Club and Hobart Kendo Club are here for you in this difficult time. Please reach out to us if you are in need of help or even if you just want to have a chat with us. UTAS Kendo Club

10.01.2022 Finalised new UTAS Kendo Club logo, designed by Erich! We chose the Tasmanian Devil because it is one of the Endangered Species that is unique to Tasmania. The Tasmanian devil also has the most powerful bite relative to body size of any living mammalian carnivore, exerting a force of 553 N (56.4 kgf). What we want to show the world, is that we may be small, but we will take on any challenge presented to us. "The Ultimate Goal is to be better today than yesterday, with a plan to become even better tomorrow".

10.01.2022 Maintain fluidity through receiving instead of blocking

They want to thank everyone who has guided them in their journey to Shodan, especially Stan and Daniel sensei, who are their father figures in Kendo. With Nidan grading to look forward to, and with the guidance of Damian sensei and every sensei in Hobart Kendo Club, let's do our best and be better than who we are yesterday. Congratulations guys, FAITTO!!
