25.01.2022 ‘Aww is Dad babysitting today?’ It is usually just a passing comment, that isn’t meant to harm or offended, but a number of Dads are getting tired of the comments that suggest they aren’t a primary carer for their children. These days dads enjoy being more actively involved in family life, and we’re all for it! ... In order to create a community that is safe, respectful and equal for all, we need to support each other in breaking out of the rigid gender roles that suggest only Mum's can be the primary carers of children.
25.01.2022 Challenging gender stereotypes isn’t only about creating more opportunities for women - it's also about freeing men from the pressures of rigid gender stereotypes to improve their wellbeing. The Men’s Project surveyed 1000 Australian Men aged 18 30 about the pressures to be a ‘real man’ and found young men who adhere more rigidly to these harmful masculine stereotypes reported poorer mental health outcomes and behavioural issues that are harmful to themselves and others, p...articularly women. 23.01.2022 It was so great to see the community come together this morning to say that #ViolenceIsNEVEROk on #WhiteRibbonDay 2020. Today was a day to raise awareness of the toll of family violence on our communities, to pay our respects to those who lost their lives to family violence this year in WA, and to work together to re-imagine a future that is safer for everyone. Good work today and keep those conversations about how to #changethestory of violence against women going, because in five short days we kick of the #16DaysOfActivism - get ready to go orange !

16.01.2022 Today is International Day of the World’s Indigenous Peoples. This year’s theme is the COVID-19 and Indigenous Peoples Resilience. The aim is to highlight how the preservation and promotion of indigenous peoples’ traditional knowledge and practices can be leveraged more fully during this pandemic. The Community, Respect and Equality team respectfully acknowledges the Yamatji Peoples as Traditional Owners and First People of the land on which we live. The Nhanhagardi, Wilunyu,... Naaguja. We pay our respects to the Elders past, present and future for they hold the memories, the traditions, the culture and hopes of the Yamatji Peoples. Organisations, individuals, community groups are all uniting with this common cause and we at Community, Respect & Equality are right behind it. What can you do to support?
