24.01.2022 It is great to see the Wet N’ Wild Water Park opening in Sydney and we wish both the operators and their patrons a fantastic summer season. Don’t forget to Slip Slop Slap... General Admission to Wet & Wild Sydney will cost $69.99 for those over 110cm in height, and $54.99 if you are shorter. Pensioner admission is also $54.99. Children under 3-years old get in free. Plus there are two feature rides that are not covered in the admission pass and you will have to pay extra to r...ide. On top of the entry fee, you will be up for locker hire, and a parking fee, and no doubt the food will be expensive (please prove us wrong)... There are no train stations nearby so you will have to drive. Because there are no family passes offered, a family of four can expect to pay around $380 for a day visiting the park. CEO of Wet & Wild recently attempted to defend the parks pricing by saying If you go to a One Direction concert or a Taylor Swift concert you pay more than $100 a ticket and you only get 90 minutes of entertainment, he said. Here at Wet’n’Wild we are offering world-class entertainment and you can stay all day. Our pricing is in line with the world-class water park we are building, the likes of which has never been seen before. How much time will be spent enjoying the water rides compared to waiting in long lines in the hot summer sun is anyone’s guess. So what do you think about the park... does it sound like a good deal to you?

20.01.2022 Apple has withdrawn an iPhone app instructing its users to perform plastic surgery on an unfortunate image of a Barbie doll to make her slim and beautiful. The app, marketed at children as young as nine, sparked outrage on Twitter. The Plastic Surgery & Plastic Doctor & Plastic Hospital Office for Barbie instructed its users to casually perform liposuction. This unfortunate girl has so much extra weight that no diet can help her, said the app’s description. In our c...linic she can go through a surgery called liposuction that will make her slim and beautiful. We’ll need to make small cuts on problem areas and suck out the extra fat. Will you operate on her, doctor? In the process, users of the app had to perform graphic surgery on six problem areas of Barbie’s body, and can then pump the virtual fat out. Barbie is then bandaged up, and after five app-days pass, aspiring surgeons can dress the new Barbie up and put make-up on her. After the operations are complete, users can also compare before-and-after photographs to proudly examine the results. The application advertised itself as being suitable for children as young as nine and was free to download on Apple’s iTunes store after being released in January 2013 by developers, Corina Game. Apple removed it Tuesday after a storm of protest on social media. While Apple has taken it down, a similar app, called Plastic Surgery for Barbara remains available to users. Twitter users also criticized another app available to users of all ages on Google Play, called Plastic Surgery, which worked on a similar premise. The app called the girl ugly. Barbara likes to eat a lot of burgers and chocolates and once she found that she looks ugly, said the application’s description. Plastic surgeon is going to make [the] operation on her body and face in order to return cute Barbara’s look. The application was downloaded between 500,000 and 1 million times. Google also took down the app late Tuesday. We don't comment on individual apps, but will remove apps that breach our guidelines, a Google spokesperson said. Within a world in which eating disorders are rising, children as young as 5 have been shown to worry about their bodies and a quarter of seven-year old girls have dieted to lose weight, it was incredibly irresponsible of iTunes and Google Play to make these potentially extremely damaging apps available to children as young as 9, - Laura Bates, founder of the Everyday Sexism Project. That the apps have been pulled from the platforms in the wake of publicity and public pressure is a positive first step, but it doesn't solve the problem of how they ended up available in the first place, nor mitigate the fact that a near-identical app, 'Plastic Surgery for Barbara,' is still available on the iTunes store, she said.

18.01.2022 You have the right to know what you are buying. This is an example of GMO labelling in Australia. It's a can of Cake Mate brand frosting and contains Genetically Modified ingredients. Make sure you look past the marketing labels and read the small print when buying.

11.01.2022 Australian Banks will continue to cut jobs. Westpac, NAB and ANZ have cut more than 1900 full-time jobs between them in the past year. What impact does this have on service levels for customers? Will you be expected to do more self service?... At the same time; profits at Australia's largest banks have swelled to a record $27.4 billion this year. Executive level pay is bigger than ever - clearly there is no incentive for banks to reduce the trend.

07.01.2022 Jamie Oliver wins battle with McDonalds whose food has been proved unfit for human consumption. Jamie Oliver has won his long-fought battle against one of the largest fast food chains in the world McDonalds. After Oliver showed how McDonald’s hamburgers are made, the franchise finally announced that it will change its recipe, and yet there was barely a peep about this in the mainstream, corporate media. Oliver repeatedly explained to the public, over several years in docu...mentaries, television shows and interviews that the fatty parts of beef are washed in ammonium hydroxide and used in the filling of the burger. Before this process, according to the presenter, the food is deemed unfit for human consumption. According to the chef and hamburger enthusiast, Jamie Oliver, who has undertaken a war against the fast food industry, Basically, we’re taking a product that would be sold in the cheapest way for dogs, and after this process, is being given to human beings. Besides the low quality of the meat, the ammonium hydroxide is harmful to health. Oliver famously coined this the pink slime process. Why would any sensible human being put meat filled with ammonia in the mouths of their children? Oliver asked.

02.01.2022 A preservative used in about half of all disposable baby wipes is causing an allergic reaction in a large number of people, a study has found. The research, published in the Medical Journal of Australia, shows rates of allergic reaction to the chemical methylisothiazolinone, known as MI, have risen from less than 4 per cent to 11 per cent in two years. The researchers say the chemical is now the most common cause of allergic contact dermatitis, which appears as a rash on the ...skin, in their patients. MI is also found in shampoos, moisturiser, sunscreens and deodorants, as well as paints, cooling tower water and cutting water. Rosemary Nixon of the Skin and Cancer Foundation, which conducted the research, says it is unusual to have as many as one in 10 people allergic to a product."These are really high rates of allergy. I've actually never seen rates as high as this," she said. "Interestingly, it's happening in the developed world."All over the world manufacturers are taking notice and in Europe, industry has recognised that this preservative needs to be eliminated." Ms Nixon says the issue is mostly likely more widespread than people think. "There are probably more people getting rashes from this than we realise," she said. "If people have got a rash through a deodorant it's as simple as them just checking the bottle for the ingredient and seeing if it's present, and if it is, just buying an alternative product." Dermatologist Jennifer Cahill says the Skin and Cancer Foundation has included a test for an allergic reaction to MI in allergy tests since 2011. "MI is now the most common cause of allergic contact dermatitis in our patient population," she said. "Interestingly it is parents using baby wipes on their children who are presenting with hand dermatitis, although it is likely that allergic contact dermatitis involving the groin in children may not be diagnosed accurately."
