22.01.2022 Correcting posture and building strength through a post natal program. Mothers that are constantly carrying or picking up their babies whether that be to breast feeding or giving them attention, find themselves in weird and sub optimal positions and most often with upper back/neck or shoulder pain (sometimes all 3!!). . Being able to address the imbalances and correct posture whilst regaining strength after having a baby is something most mothers want to be able to do, which... is definitely possible, but needs to be done with care. . Chances are you have developed (over time) a less than optimal posture with whatever it is you are doing for the most part of your day. . . Biomechanically, this position is not really a concern as is can be easily managed, however as with any posture, sensitivity can result when the poor posture is held for long periods. .... . The movements here are designed to counteract the positional stresses associated with a rounded shoulder posture by encouraging scapula retraction. Any relief in pain is not because we are correcting ones posture, but because we are moving the body away from a position of sensitivity. . . 04.01.2022 Working on functional tasks is our main goal during these sessions. Grant is right sided hemiplegic and has great difficulty with everyday tasks such as small steps and getting up from a chair. During our sessions we are working on building lower body strength as well as his confidence with activities of daily living. Grant has come such a long way with his rehab, and still has a long way to go - however, continues to remain motivated and determined to try everything I throw at him. It is a higher level movement that integrates a glute med bias to a more global lower extremity exercise. 01.01.2022 Wednesday night 6pm - Glutes and core specific session. Working on building strong, pain free bodies! . Glute Med plays a significant role in the strength and stability of the hips. Decreased pelvic stability or strength can cause issues locally as well as compensation issues which can spread up into the lower back or down the chain into the knee, ankle or foot. .... A lack of control at the hip, pelvis or trunk can be associated with knee, hip or lumbar pain, or depending on the activity, increases ones risk of suffering certain injuries like ACL or MCL tears. .
