23.01.2022 On Wednesday 24 April, around 300 Guide Dogs SA/NT clients and dogs, supporters, volunteers and staff gathered to celebrate International Guide Dog Day with ou...r annual Paws Parade to Government House! This iconic event honours the life-changing work of Guide Dogs, Autism Assistance Dogs and Therapy Dogs for people living with disability. The parade concluded with morning tea and a ceremony in the gardens at Government House, where we presented awards to our graduating and retiring dogs. With the Friends of Guide Dogs Awards, we also recognised local businesses that have shown a commitment to enhancing access and inclusion for our clients and volunteers with their dogs. Thanks to everyone who joined our celebration, particularly our patron and Governor of South Australia, His Excellency the Honourable Hieu Van Le AC; The Right Honourable the Lord Mayor of Adelaide, Ms Sandy Verschoor; and Shadow Minister for Human Services, Ms Nat Cook MP. 08.01.2022 This month were celebrating the positive impact of legal access rights with stories of access and inclusion in our community. Businesses that go above and beyo...nd the legal requirements to make our clients and volunteers feel welcome are recognised with the Friends of Guide Dog Awards. This year we received a record number of nominations from our clients and volunteers! As Guide Dog user Al wrote when nominating his favourite taxi driver, He treats me for the person I am, he doesn't treat me as a disabled person. He always explains things clearly and is patient, never rushes me. He goes above and beyond with his services and seems to do so with everyone. The Friends of Guide Dogs Awards will be announced at our presentation ceremony on Wednesday 24 April for International Guide Dog Day. Follow the campaign and share your own positive experiences of access and inclusion using the hashtags #AccessAllAreas and #CelebrateGuideDogs

He learns new tricks quickly and reliably. He likes to play fetch and has a great appetite. Sam travels very well in the car. Sam has the poodle coat type, which means he doesnt shed but will require routine clips or brushing to prevent his coat becoming matted. Sam is a medium sized dog, weighing 15kgs. He is not a small dog. Sam has been surrendered to Leema Rescue due to biting. While hes undergoing training with us through Dog Consultancy until he finds a new home, we are looking for a forever-home that is a) willing to keep up training and engage with us for guidance, and b) accepts that they may be bitten by Sam.
