25.01.2022 Manufacturing Composite Stands within Australia has had its challenges. However, it has also been very important for us to be homegrown. We are really proud to carry the green and gold logo on all of our stands. Helping our economy whilst it is helping us. Although it would be super helpful if the QLD Government would open up its border so that we can get back to being fully operational... just saying! #compositestands #composite #stands #equipmentsupportstands #jackingstands #jackstands #safetystands #safetymanagement

23.01.2022 There is a bit of a backstory on the impact that Covid19 has had on our business. It may not have been the initial plan for 2020 but I can definitely say that we took the positive out of the negative and turned it around. Expansion was on the horizon at the start of this year after taking on a new partner. Volume orders were being placed. Preparation to move the factory to a facility that could cater for our future growth was underway. A team of new people were being sought t...o come under our employ. Research & Development was in full swing to further our product line and all the things that come with it. Years and years of prior hard work, sweat and tears had led us to this point and as we were letting out the clutch, Covid19 unleashed its beast, setting our plans into a tailspin. As global hysteria took hold, we committed our families to safety and then hunkered down to preserve our business. Not knowing what the future would hold and not understanding the effect that this could have on our livelihood. Surrounded by uncertainty, travel and flights were cancelled, borders closed and with that being asked to stay at home by the Government. There was no longer an option for travel interstate which would have an insurmountable effect on our business. It was at this moment that we realised, if we wanted to continue producing throughout this period, we would need to relocate from QLD back to NSW. No sooner all of our key stakeholders had agreed that this was required for the company to sustain our future plans and move forward, then we embarked on the journey to bring it home. In the space of a week our entire factory was packed and loaded onto trucks. The gear that was already on the way to our new facility, redirected. Obviously it didnt stop there. Then came the arduous task of setting up shop so that we would be fully operational in record time. We worked as a team, tirelessly, day in and day out. An interim office space was set-up and the factory floor started to take shape once more. Although sales dropped because customers lost their confidence in spending, we used this time to produce stock two fold, plan and be ready for when we come out at the other end, a bigger and brighter future. To sum it up, it's not everyday that we are faced with challenges of this magnitude in business but it's times like these when you need to re-adjust your position so that you can find your feet again.

23.01.2022 The results speak for themselves! Our patented composite column is produced using a unique lay-up method to place the composite fibres into tension, creating a 'superior' compressive strength. Here Leah is holding a very good example of this, our Forklift Jacking Stand. It has a manual handling weight of just 2.7kg. It's rated capacity for this specific application is 8-tonne (8,000kg) although during testing, the smallest stand within our range held in excess of 180-tonne (180,000kg). 22.01.2022 Punching above its weight, part two! 1200mm tall and weighing in at just 52kg, this new guy is now on our shelves with a rated W.L.L of 50,000kg (50-tonnes) and ready to support your equipment. It complies with the Australian Standard 3 x safety factor of 150,000kg (150-tonnes) which is just mind-blowing! For some perspective, that is more than fifty (50) 200 Series Toyota Landcruisers being supported by just one Composite Stand. Being bottom-heavy, thanks to a combination o...f steel base plate and chrome-moly subframe components. It has been designed with large radius corners so that the stand can be easily manoeuvred into place. Especially the last 5mm that is typically positioned manually without the aid of a forklift. https://www.compositestands.com.au//50t-equipment-support/ #compositestands #composite #stands #equipmentsupportstands #jackingstands #jackstands

21.01.2022 This mechanic who is undertaking her duties on the workshop floor is carrying our first generation 12t Jack Stand, it weighs a slight 9kg and has been in service now for over 3 years. This product has since been superseded with our current 15t Jack Stand which is even lighter again. In her left hand you will also see our placement hook. This enables her to move the stands in and out of position, preventing her from getting underneath a non-supported load. https://lnkd.in/g3ix3Mr #womenintheworkplace #compositestands #composite #stands #equipmentsupportstands #jackingstands #jackstands #safetystands #safetymanagement #madeinaustralia

14.01.2022 Hastings Deering raise the bar, embracing composite technology... this is what they had to say: Since acquiring the 2.2m composite stand, it has greatly improved both safety and efficiency within our workshop. The main use for these stands is for raising the loader frames on large Wheel Loaders to assist with accessing the main control valve and for the remove/install of tilt cylinders. The stand is also being used to support implements on many other machines while under rep...air. For the size of this stand, it is easily manoeuvred by one person. The communication with Composite Stands and timeliness in delivery of this stand was excellent. We are currently organising for our entire Used Equipment and Rental workshop to be supplied with new composite stands to replace out older equipment. Foreman | Hastings Deering (Australia) Limited

14.01.2022 100,000kg capacity stands are heavy and used to support mining equipment like this! The challenge that we face in developing a rated Composite Stand to hold 100t may not be what you think. Making the composite column to support the load is something that we can do and in a few different configurations. The size of the steel base required to spread that load into the work surface area. This will put us to the test. A base plate needs to be sufficient enough to spread that 100t... load into the ground without point loading. Needless to say, that's going to be a heavy piece of plate... Therefore the challenge is not to end up with a product that is too heavy. Defeating the purpose of designing a lighter alternative. One that is safer and more convenient to use. Yes, sure we have a composite column. But how do we get it to weigh a lot less than its steel rival with such a heavy steel base? Watch this space! https://lnkd.in/ezv2xfv #compositestands #composite #stands #equipmentsupportstands #jackingstands #jackstands #safetystands #safetymanagement #madeinaustralia #komatsu

10.01.2022 Composite Stands are an unconventional, lightweight alternative to traditional vehicle and equipment support stands. They offer superior strength, durability, usability and are typically used for maintenance and/or storage purposes to safely support vehicles, machinery, vessels and equipment. Our goal is to address long-term human safety and ergonomic risks associated with the manual handling of steel stands and in particular, higher capacity devices. #worksmarternotharder #compositestands #composite #stands #equipmentsupportstands #jackingstands #jackstands #safetystands #safetymanagement #safetyfirst

09.01.2022 It's no secret that I am the kind of person who likes a well-organised workspace. Nothing kills productivity (and motivation) more than stopping to look for tooling to complete a frequent task. Starting my working life as a Mechanic, taught me that efficiency was paramount in getting the job done. That was the motivation for designing a 5S storage solution for Composite Stands. Its having the required essentials where you need them, when you need them and in an organised man...ner. Being the lightest equipment support stands in the World for their rated capacity, allows them to be stored easily and accessed directly in the work area(s). Improving labour resource utilisation and increasing productivity, saving both time and money. The equipment support stands in this video have a rated capacity of 15-tonne (15,000kg) and weigh in at just 9.2kg. During testing they held over 5 times their rated capacity, a whopping 90-tonne (90,000kg)!

07.01.2022 Barry Hebbard from Tradecore Industries and Shane Kowald from Thiess invited us out to the valley for an info session last week with a few people from their mining operations. We took the opportunity to introduce our latest development for G.E.T. maintenance. This new Swivel Head Ball attachment aligns with the Dozer blade push arm(s) angle and sits atop our 125mm column Jack Stands (see image below from the meeting). Commonly when the blade of a Dozer is elevated for G.E.T. ...change, wooden blocks may be used or a stand specifically designed to support the required angle. Not only do we now have a component that slips straight into the top of our stands for this application, making them more universal but these stands can also be manoeuvred safely and easily into position using our custom built trolley that locks securely onto an adapter plate. GET YOUR GEAR OFF the ground with safety and efficiency gains all around. All of our products are currently on show at the Tradecore facility. 07.01.2022 The Composite Stands support column is manufactured in Australia using a pultrusion process that is extremely high in density. A unique lay-up method forms the composite column that is incredibly light and enables it to hold remarkably high compressive loads. The stands in this picture are rated at 25-tonne capacity. They weigh just 10kg to 15kg (dependant on height). During testing they supported more than 160,000kg (160-tonnes) making it well over a 6 x safety factor and again, exceeding the Australian Standard. #worksmarternotharder #compositestands #composite #stands #equipmentsupportstands #jackingstands #jackstands #safetystands #safetymanagement #safetyfirst

04.01.2022 Testing a Composite Stand to DESTRUCTION, here are the facts! Wayne Crowell the Manager of Structural Testing Services at University Southern Queensland successfully tested our latest stand designs to comply with the requirements of AS 2538:2016. Firstly, to rate a 25t capacity x 1200mm stand with an ultimate load of 75t and a structural integrity (side load) test of 38t. Secondly, a 35t capacity x 1200mm stand with an ultimate load of 105t and a structural integrity (side lo...ad) test of 53t. Passing both of these tests we decide to test the now rated 35t capacity x 1200mm stand to destruction. Pictured in the graph which is a data log of the test process, partial failure marked by the red arrow at 1440kN (140t). One of the stands columns (it has two) has failed at this point. The load bearing ability of the stand falls away quickly, however it stabilises at 600kN (60t). We continue to apply load back up to and above the initial failure. It reaches 1600kN (160t) before it fails the final composite column. However, as you can see in the data/graph, once it stabilises the stand continues to support 600kn (60t). #compositestands #jackstands #madeinaustralia #USQ
