21.01.2022 Happy New Year everyone! A quick and light-hearted reminder as we kick off 2021 to make sure you have good and robust passwords in place. Don't get caught out!

21.01.2022 Always worth reminding everyone to be vigilant with your cyber security. We had numerous customers this week alone who had been scammed and it wasn't due to malicious malware, ransomware or viruses. It was being duped in to giving remote access to your computer and opening your bank account. There are a few ways to judge if someone you are talking to is trying to scam you. * If you receive a phone call from someone you suspect is a scammer, hang up, find the organisatio...ns phone number yourself and ring them back. Never use a number they give you. Don't google search for a contact number, go to their website and find the contact us details there. * Don't trust a site or an ad just because its advertised on social media or a classified website, or claims to be endorsed by a celebrity, check independent reviews and be wary of offers too good to be true. * Don't share personal or financial information online or over the phone with cold callers. The Tax Office, Microsoft, Telstra, Australia Post will not call you asking for you to pay a bill immediately or require access to your computer. * Limit what personal information you share online. Share with your family, friends and colleagues scams that you're aware of or have heard about, there are too many people that are still not aware of the different types of angles and approaches that scammers take and are being taken advantage of. It's worth signing up for the government ScamWatch Radar notifications to hear about new and different types of scams that are out there and happening and of course if you're unfortunate enough to have experienced one first hand report it! https://www.scamwatch.gov.au/ Computer Ambulance is also here to support you by inspecting your computer to give it a clean bill of health and reassure you after this type of experience. We can also supply a report to your financial institution if required.

12.01.2022 After 21 years of faithful service the old Computer Ambulance van decided it was time to permanently retire. This has made way for a new Ambulance with a fresh new look. Keep your eyes out for Mark in the new van getting around town. 12.01.2022 Phishing email scam alert: There is an email doing the rounds lately purporting to be from myGov and seemingly to be legitimate because it's sending you to the recognisable site Dropbox. This is a scam and you should not click on the 'Download files' link or open the pdf - delete it immediately. Remember myGov particularly will never send you details of transactions in an email. They always just let you know you have a new email within the myGov portal itself and you have to navigate to and log in to your account manually. One of the items within this email that gives it away as being a scam is the 'Questions' email as the domain 'email.com' is not the domain of myGov. Stay aware and stay safe online.
