25.01.2022 Keeping these pics for inspiration! One day, one day....

25.01.2022 A #Winter #sunshower across the Comraich #vineyard and the Main Range - we've had a glorious Winter. Excellent soil moisture and feed for our #lowline #angus. And a #beautiful #landscape to wash the week's worries away...

25.01.2022 Comraich's own pomegranate - our first harvest - atop a pork belly, port, and prune pilaf. The flavour of the pomegranate is intense - seriously unlike any I've had before. #eatfresh #freshproduce #eatseasonal

24.01.2022 Gin O'clock at Comraich - the sun setting on a cool evening after a busy day - mowing the vineyard, tending to the vegie patch, and the perennial repairs to the bore after another calf attack. Small job for tomorrow: fence the bore!

24.01.2022 Terrible photo but our newest addition's mum wasn't too keen on letting me near. First lamb of the season. Fingers crossed all goes well for the other ewes.

23.01.2022 Winter's not quite over yet - plenty of frost on the ground this morning.

22.01.2022 This fellow was causing quite a commotion amongst the bird community earlier today. Have to say we were giving him plenty of space too!

21.01.2022 Tonight's accompaniment to Comraich beef - and a wine that will be hard to shift from our personal wine of the year 2018: Pirramimma Winery Petit Verdot 2006. Gorgeously soft tannins, perfect textural balance, deep plum and blackberry.

20.01.2022 A frosty Winter's dawn at Comraich...

19.01.2022 This morning brought one last addition to our flock for 2017! Black eye patch and all - very pirate!

18.01.2022 A spectacular end to a spectacular day at Comraich...and a touch of Autumn in the air. Happy Easter to all our friends and followers!

17.01.2022 Welcome #Winter #rain today on Comraich - top of the range veiled in #cloud.

17.01.2022 Beautifully cool for a midsummer morning, and enshrouded in cloud and light rain this morning.

17.01.2022 When the well's dry, said Benjamin Franklin, we know the worth of water. As absentee farmers, and being reliant on ground water, one of our regular hold-your-breath moments is whether there'll be water when we arrive late on a Friday night. Comraich's water system is a single gravity fed network of 1 1/2" poly pipe, and any breach can and has drained our main tank. Mornings of -8C freezing the pipes. Days of 40C having the opposite effect. Failed fittings. And this week's s...urprise: our garden irrigation system's timer failed, delicately spraying 50,000 to 70,000 litres on the front lawn! Needless to say, in the current drought, Comraich (that is, only its front lawn) is the greenest spot in the Goomburra Valley! A morning's sleuthing (to work out what could possibly be happening) and the mandatory $200 trip to Bunnings and all is good. Yes, I know sprinkler timers don't cost $200, but you all know how it is.

17.01.2022 Our broad beans have been fantastic but the crop is finished now. A big morning of picking, blanching and freezing the last of them so well be enjoying beans for awhile yet.

16.01.2022 A frosty Winters dawn at Comraich...

15.01.2022 Our #olives this morning, bursting into flower! #Spring has definitely sprung (or maybe weve skipped it and gone straight for #Summer, given this weeks heatwave. Hopefully, the rain forecast for the next few days will kick things along nicely.

14.01.2022 Our groundstaff working on the outfield at the Northern end of the vineyard. Keeping a watchful eye after "the incident" last Autumn!

14.01.2022 Are you a Yarntopian? The Warwick Art Gallery yarn bombers are getting ready to transform the gallery into a colourful wonderland! Hundreds of people participat...e in the gallerys creative Jumpers & Jazz in July projects every year, which also includes a program of workshops and the festivals famous tree jumper exhibition. 14.01.2022 Another milestone in the Comraich vineyard with the first vines being staked. Were sometimes asked where the trellises are/will be, but were planning to "bush train" the vines, which is the oldest method of training. Stakes are used to support the vines until their trunks are strong enough to support them. The vine will form a vase or goblet shape, thus this methods other name, gobelet.

13.01.2022 Congratulations to Ballandean Estate Wines, Ridgemill Estate, and Symphony Hill Wines on their gold medals at the International Saperavi Producers World Prize in Tbilisi, Georgia. These results are a great credit to these wonderful winemakers, and great encouragement to us here at Comraich as our young Saperavi vines continues to grow!

13.01.2022 Hard to hear yourself think here this afternoon. The gum trees are all in blossom so the buzz of bees is a constant undertone overlaid with the screech of so many kinds of lorikeets and rosellas. Gorgeous!

13.01.2022 Preparations for a new arrival at Comraich, a new shed. Pad cut and footings on the way...

12.01.2022 Rain (and some green) at last! More needed after two years of punishing drought, but this is wonderful.

12.01.2022 Congratulations to our neighbours, Gordon Country Weddings and Events on their success in the Brides Choice Award for a wedding venue servicing the Gold Coast and hinterland! The Goomburra Valley is a spectacular setting for a wedding and anyone giving thought to wedding planning should consider Gordon Country. We've attached their celebratory offer. Again, congratulations!

11.01.2022 Extensive #frost this morning but still so beautiful. #winter #darlingdowns #thisisQueensland

11.01.2022 Just around the corner...

09.01.2022 The Great Divide, which overlooks Comraich, has disappeared this morning in a veil of cloud and misty rain. Our wonderful Spring continues. Sparing a thought, though, for farmers not far away who are struggling with the dry. Our position, nestled in the Main Range National Park, the wettest area in South East Queensland, is perfect for our Angus cattle, Wiltshire Horn sheep, and of course those Saperavi grapes.

08.01.2022 Winters not quite over yet - plenty of frost on the ground this morning.

07.01.2022 So what are we growing? Thanks to Vicki Denig for writing and Wine Awesomeness for sharing this great article on #Saperavi, the grapes we've planted at Comraich. While #Queensland's Main Range is long way from Georgia, its microclimate and #terroir is a good match, so we're hoping for good things!

07.01.2022 The end of our first carrot crop headed for the jam pot. Trying out some carrot and ginger jam.

06.01.2022 Six new arrivals at Comraich! Three sets of twins - one white pair, one black pair, and one pair with one of each. Mothers and babies all doing well.

06.01.2022 #AustraliaDay #sunset at Comraich

05.01.2022 A glorious #morning here in the Main Range - after a welcome " of rain yesterday. The #landscape here never ceases to change, is never quite the same, but is almost always another feast for the eyes!

05.01.2022 Our #olives this morning, bursting into flower! #Spring has definitely sprung (or maybe we've skipped it and gone straight for #Summer, given this week's heatwave. Hopefully, the rain forecast for the next few days will kick things along nicely.

04.01.2022 Winter veges doing well. #garden #myharvest #winterinqld #SouthernDowns

02.01.2022 We have two rams for sale. 2yo Dorset x Dorper and a 15 month Dorset/Dorper x Wiltshire Horn. Older ram sired 80% twins this year. Younger ram ready to work. Both are relatively quiet and easily yarded. Only selling so we can concentrate on Wiltshires.

01.01.2022 Now this is the way to end the week...

01.01.2022 Two very wet King Parrots being the focus of attention.
