23.01.2022 Update : We are still open and have all hands on deck. We have many clients that rely on us and we are here to help. Following the recent discoveries in severity of the virus, the practice is taking necessary precautions to help limit the spread of the virus and prevent impacting on our patient outcomes.... We are screening individuals coming into the practice through email and SMS before they arrive. Normal hygiene will continue, including wiping down reception areas, handles, treatment tables, equipment and surfaces. The practitioners will continue to wash their hands before and after any contact with an individual. The practitioners will also be wearing single use gloves during the treatment session and will replace for each patient. The safety of our clients and ourselves is the number one priority. Please notify the practice to change any appointments as mentioned in the image. Keep the shoulder, elbow and wrist in neutral. Assist the concentric (upward) component of the movement with the opposite hand. 08.01.2022 MOBILITY before Stability Here are 2 great exercises to help get the lower back moving. These work best in the morning to he...lp get the joints moving, oiled and the muscles warm ready to take on the day. Just like starting a car for the first time in a cold morning, sometimes we need to warm the lower back up before we take off! These exercises should not cause any pain! If there is any pain, stop and seek your medical practitioner. . Position: lying on back, knees together and bent so that feet are flat on the floor, hands by your side. Movement: gentle side to side rocks, keeping your feet and knees together. Progress: increase the size of the movement by getting your knees closer to the floor on each side. 15 reps right and left. . Position: lying on your front with your hands at in line with your forehead. Movement: press through your hands to straighten your elbows and arch your back backwards, keeping your pelvis in contact with the floor. Elbow pain may also be caused by other structures in the elbow and further investigation may be required. Does elbow pain come from the neck? There is a significant amount of elbow pain that is referred from the neck! It can be found that commonly cervical joint C5 C6 can refer pain to the elbow via the radial nerve down the arm. Treatment can be directed at the neck to therefore assist with elbow pain. Lower back pain can be brought on acutely with a sudden movement but more often pain in the lower back is brought on gradually. Common contributing factors: Prolonged poor postures. Poor mobility of the spine and/or hips. Poor sleep quality and/ or duration and/or position. Core and pelvic strength and stability Poor office set up at home now compared to previous office set up. Lack of exercise. Stress and/or anxiety. Previous lower back pain Cold weather Lower back pain is multi-factorial so don’t search for one cause!
