24.01.2022 Anxious is a just a 7 letter word that describes a feeling. It isn’t a label - it isn’t forever and it’s nothing to be afraid or ashamed of. I find a lot of people are scared of labelling their dog anxious, but it’s not a label, it’s a way to describe how they feel in one, some, or many situations or moments in time. ... I think by considering if our dogs behaviour might be coming from a place of anxiety it allows us to become curious and creative by looking for solutions and remedies outside of the box. So next time if you find yourself getting frustrated by your dogs behaviour - start asking if it’s coming from a place of anxiousness and look for ways to reduce their worry in that situation. Also - if you are feeling anxious about taking your anxious dog out into the world that’s absolutely ok too! M x

23.01.2022 Not dog related but huge kudos to Kmart New Zealand for not going with the stereotypical boy are blue and girls are pink colours in their advertising. As a mum trying to bring up two little men in a toxic masculine culture this is a huge step in a wonderful direction. Thankyou

15.01.2022 Hanging out with this dude today while presenting safety around dogs at my sons school. My advice on keeping under 8’s safe around dogs. 1. Dogs need space, if you can reach out and touch them, then you are too close... 2. Never approach a dog you don’t know, even if they are friendly 3. Dogs love waves 4. If an off leash dog approaches. Be still and hide your eyes if needed. . My passion is working with anxious and reactive dogs. I advocate for them and their owners. Keep everyone safe and teach your any under 8 child to never interact with a dog they don’t know.

14.01.2022 A beautiful client of mine Sandy is currently fundraising for veterinary care for her new pup Tilly. There is a reason I want to share this publicly on my page. Sandy was one of my first ever clients and at the time she had finished training Zara through the Mind Dog program to be her assistance dog. ... At the time she quit smoking to pay for her place in one of my workshops and had previously sold her car to pay for Zara’s veterinary care. To say she is dedicated to her dogs is an understatement. Since our first workshop together I have seen Sandy grow in confidence, continue learning everything she could and always prioritising Zara’s needs before her own. As Zara is now 8, she’s looking to retire Zara and had recently brought Tilly into her family and start training Tilly to become her next assistance dog. Due to unfortunate accident Tilly now has a fracture requiring surgery. It’s going to be a lot for Sandy to cover on her own and so her friends have started a go fund me on her behalf. If you feel at all called to assist Sandy and Tilly’s recovery I know she would be forever grateful! Here’s the link: https://www.gofundme.com/f/matilda-the-rotty-pup
