The Addis...on Road Food Pantry is a unique grocery shop that rescues nearly two tonnes of fruit, vegetables, bread and other quality food each week from being thrown into landfill and passes it on at highly affordable rates to the community. During the Covid19 pandemic, the Pantry ramped up their operations, putting together emergency Covid relief boxes for community organisations, helping those who may not be able to readily access or afford supplies. Presently, Connect provides vehicles and drivers each week to transport of 100+ boxes of food to Food Pantry partner the Jesuit Refugee Centre in Westmead, an amazing organisation advocating for and supporting refugees and those seeking asylum in Australia. Other community organisations such as sport and media personality Craig Foster's 'Play For Lives' have also been instrumental during this time, providing much needed hands on support to the Food Pantry. It is fantastic to see the Premier take the time to visit such worthwhile charities and see firsthand the wonderful work the staff and volunteers of these organisations undertake each and every day for the inner west community.
