05.01.2022 This is so disappointing and insulting but not very surprising because we cannot trust government at the best of times. How can they announce support for World Heritage Listing then announce this shortly after ? The Murujuga Corporation was asked to move their proposed Living Knowledge Centre from the relatively safe Hearsons Cove to Conzinc Bay on the Northern Burrup and the Govt was going to support them by bitumizing a road around the jump up to give it access. now we h...ave to wonder how long this talk has been going on for these two new construction jobs ? this not only undermines the world heritage listing but does nothing to give us confidence that our words are being heard. moving the centre to be out of mind out of site was nothing but a Trojan horse to get these new developments built even though building them on their proposed site is effectively breaking the Burrup & Maitland estate agreement yet again. If the Govt wants those plants built then tell them to build over at the Maitland estate like the legally binding agreement allows them too. See more
