24.01.2022 I think my dog Reece appreciates a freshly mowed lawn more than I do!

23.01.2022 Dont let grubs get the better of your lawn. Act now!

21.01.2022 We can improve and maintain the health of your lawn. All you have to do is enjoy it! Just ask us how http://bit.ly/1Gqa2h6 #healthylawn

21.01.2022 Garden tip of the day.... breath easy. Many of us live a busy life and all too often rush from place to place. The garden can be our sanctuary. Not only can we gain the benefit of fresh garden air, the fragrances of flowers and leaves can also help clear our minds. Peppermint scented plants such as geraniums and the namesake mint are great at clearing nasal passages, as are other scented geraniums. Citrus in bloom is also good for clearing the head, nose and throat.... Lemon grass and other lemon scented foliage plants are beneficial in the garden especially along pathways - they too help us breath a little more easily. See more

20.01.2022 Love this postcard

20.01.2022 Don’t let grubs get the better of your lawn. Act now!

20.01.2022 I realise half my customers are Rabbitos supporters, but my Son and I were so happy to see the Roosters get up in the Grand Final!

19.01.2022 Good to see the Kids using my own lawn over the break. Toasted Marshmallows were a hit last night.

17.01.2022 Before and after pictures. This lawn was full of clover, oxalis and general broadleaf weeds. After two visits from Coochie the results speak for them self.

16.01.2022 Had a bit of a laugh when I saw a lawn I work on sometimes in a music video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iP9ORDQQwNE It comes in at the 2 min 17 mark if you want to skip to the green!

16.01.2022 I uploaded my Father in Law's lawn in September, and Just thought I would show it now. He lives in Tokyo and they are having heavy snow this week. Tokyo is beautiful when it snows.

15.01.2022 I look forward to the City to surf each year, not because I want exercise, but to me its an alarm bell that its time to get my lawn ready for spring.

12.01.2022 I see all the Joggers training for the City2surf and think spring is approaching! Spring provides conditions that initiate the process of root activity which in turn governs plant growth in your lawn. The roots of warm-season grasses (bufallo and Couch) grow most rapidly at soil temperatures between 23 32 degrees C, therefore growing right through summer. With this in mind root stimulant (kelp) and humus will further promote this root growth in Spring allowing for better uptake of other key nutrients and water. My current mix is rich in both Kelp and Humus, as usual I have a slow release fertilser rich in nitrogen, that is the multi Vitamin that your lawn needs. Bring on the Growth and love that green.

12.01.2022 Wow, we have had a lot of Rain lately, but according to the Bureau of Meteorology, thats about to end. It may be a dry Winter. http://www.smh.com.au//droughtthreatening-el-nino-event-in As we head into the later part of Autumn, I thought this paragraph is an important read if you wish to keep your lawn going strong.... ----------------------------------- For Australian Turf Managers few other times of the year are more crucial than the last few weeks of autumn. Having survived the dry heat of summer and the humidity of early autumn, many turf surfaces will often be in their worst shape at this time of year. There is only a limited window of time available to strengthen the turfgrass plant prior to the onset of winter, making these precious few weeks vital in the success of the following season. During this time both warm and cool season turfgrasses will be in a phase of physiological transition as soil temperatures drop (McCarty 2002), though it is the warm season (C4) turfgrasses that will typically face the more significant reduction growth. In many parts of Australia full winter dormancy is generally not observed in warm season species such as couch grasses (Cynodon spp.), though while it may not be visually observed the growth of the plant will still slow significantly.

11.01.2022 Congratulations to the winners of our Father's Day Honda Gift Package Chris & Nicole Mutch of Castle Hill Its a great time to have a new mower on board to tackle this fresh growth.

08.01.2022 A very nice nature strip in randwick I look after.

08.01.2022 Do You Really want this in your lawn? Filling in time in a home centre and saw this the other day. Its funny but there are 3 main lawns in Sydney (Buffalo, Couch & Kikuyu). My job on my customers lawns is to keep them pure and free of weeds and unwanted wild grasses. The main grasses that seem to make a lawn unsightly are Paspalym, Parramatta grass, Nutt Grass and your annuals like Oats and RYE GRASS. Looking at the label of this product I see its 48% Rye Grass. Then its 48% ...Fescue, Fescue is a cold climate grass that is mainly seen around Canberra, not much use for it in Sydney. Both Rye and Fescue do not grow in Runners, they have a tap root that is never really going to spread much anyhow. I see they threw in 4% Couch, but I really question how well the Couch would germinate. End result is that you would get growth from this product I think, but how well that growth would blend in with your existing lawn is very questionable. I have never really seen a lawn repaired successfully with seeds from home centres. This product is $29.95, for $10 you can buy a roll of Buffalo, Kikuyu or Couch. The roll is 1 square meter, so just cut it up into the required size of your bare patchees, ad a bit of fertile soil as an underlay and put the grass on top. for a 1/3 of the price, you will get an instant result that will blend in perfectly without giving your lawn impurities. These Amazon UK reviews may seem to add light? http://www.amazon.co.uk/product-revi//ref=cm_cr_pr_hist_1

07.01.2022 It was good to catch up with a lot of customers and meet some new ones at Rose Bay fair yesterday . With the help of my kids and gardener John Foxmann, we raised $160 for the bushfire appeal!

06.01.2022 A Happy New year to everyone, do something nice to your lawn and give it a good water to start the year with!

05.01.2022 Happy first day of Autumn! Keep an eye out for grubs and pests in your lawn and give us a call if you need help eradicating them. Our local franchisee in Yeppo...on came across a lawn that has been invaded by army worms (see pic). He is now on a mission to restore the lawn to it's former glory for the customer. Stay tuned for more pics! See more

05.01.2022 With all this dry weather I have started up my drought resistant mix, I have doubled the soil wetting agent and am adding lots of Humus (not the Lebanese food but a soil additive). Humus is great for breaking down organic matter and turning it to rich soil. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Humus This combined with kelp and wetting agents, helps water retention in your soil. You still have to water your lawn, but the water will remain in the soil longer and will be more available to the roots of your lawn.

05.01.2022 Did You Know? A good lawn can add as much as 15% to the value of a house.... A good, fine textured lawn. has at least 10,000 shoots and over 5,000,000km of roots per square metre. Roots make up 90% of the weight of grass plants in the lawn. Turfgrass acts as a natural filter by reducing pollution by purifying the water as it passes through the root zone. 250m of lawn can absorb CO from the atmosphere and release enough oxygen for a family of four. Turf is four times more effective than a hay field in controlling erosion. Sediment lossesfrom turfed areas are 10 times less than from straw covered areas. Runoff from Turfed areas will take at least 28 times longer than the most popular erosion control materials. Turfgrass traps and removes dust and dirt from the air. On a hot day, a grass lawn will be at least 15C cooler than asphalt and 8C cooler than bare soil. The lawn is also effective in reducing noise. In laboratory studies, turfgrass proved to be more sound absorbent than a heavy carpet or felt pad. An average size lawn of a house has the cooling effect of about 9 tonnes of air conditioning.
