23.01.2022 NEWS FROM THE BUSH RANGERS | Week 10 Bush Rangers This week the Bush Rangers returned to the Serpentine River with their canoes and enjoyed the peaceful surrounds of Eacott Park as they paddled up and down the river learning how to control a canoe and even raft up with other craft. ... While only their second time on the water, the bush rangers showed there skills with no one falling in for the hour and some rangers developing quite the prowess on the water. The students then enjoyed a final BBQ snag for the term although this time Mr Ellam remembered the mustard but forgot the tomato sauce. This being the last session for the term, a huge thank you must go out to Mrs Karen Schilling, Mr Cameron Fishburn, Mr Luke Wilson and Mrs Christine Bennett for all their great work this term as the program could not happen without them. A new permission form was sent home with students for the term 4 program and it kicks off from day 1 of next term, so students need to return the form as soon as possible. Thank you to all of our rangers efforts this term and I look forward to doing it all again next term. Mr Ellam Teacher

My Government will end the privatisation of Peel Health Campus when the current agreement ends in 2023, bringing the hospital back into public hands - and we have a plan to make it happen. In more great news, Peel Health Campus will be getting a massive, $152 million upgrade significantly increasing capacity and delivering a range of extra services.

At Coodanup College, we have a dedicated team of staff who volunteer their time to ensure that our students do not go hungry. We are fortunate to be able to offer this service each weekday and this would not be made possible without the support of Foodbank WA, Coles, Halo Team Mandurah #FeeditForwardMaoriStylzWa #SecondBite #spudshedmandurah and our staff volunteers Trevor and Cindy. 13.01.2022 NEWS FROM OUR YEAR 12 - CAREERS & ENTERPRISE | Recently, our Year 12 Careers & Enterprise students held a small Market Day. On Wednesday 23 September, Nat Verschut and Annalisa Crockett from the local Women's Shelter visited Coodanup College to accept donations from the Year 12 Careers and Enterprise students and the staff.... Ms Verschut gave a brief account on the Pat Thomas refuge for women and the services it has provided over the last 30 years. The refuge has recently gone through re-branding and is now under the umbrella of OVIS. OVIS stands for Overcoming Violence, Inspiring Safety, which is something that the centre strives to achieve by providing a safe community for all to enjoy. Annalisa, who is doing work placement and studying social work, briefly outlined her experiences at the centre and she encouraged the students to do, if possible, volunteer their services there. Mrs Kelly Bennett, Principal of Coodanup College, praised the Year 12 students for their hard work. She also thanked Nat and Annalisa for the hard work they do at the centre. Lastly, our Head Girl McKenzee, presented the donations on behalf of the Year 12 students and staff at Coodanup College. Michelle Tirant Teacher in Charge Careers & Enterprise

10.01.2022 WATERWISE INCURSION | During this term, all year 7 students participated in the Water Corporation’s Waterwise Experience. This incursion used silent disco technology to introduce students to three different experiences of water; in space, in a refugee camp, and here in Western Australia. Students were able to understand what they have learnt in HASS and Science and the way it impacts on the real world, and see how different people around the world (and off the planet!) are... impacted by water in their daily lives. A big well done to the students for their excellent participation and engagement in the incursion, and a huge thank you to WaterCorp for providing this experience. For those parents of the year 7 students, if you could fill in a quick survey for the WaterCorp, this would be greatly appreciated. https://watercorporation.mcxplatform.com.au//qwebcorporate Emily Phillimore Year 7 Teacher #waterwise #watercorpwa #publiceducation Public education in Western Australia
10.01.2022 NEWS FROM THE BUSH RANGERS | The Bush Rangers have been very busy this term and were back practicing their canoeing strokes and are becoming very competent paddlers on the water. The rangers headed off an an expedition from the boat ramp at Eacott Park and paddled out onto the Serpentine River to Goegrup Lake Nature Reserve. The journey was challenging for some of the students as they paddled against the tide but were able to get the benefit of a tail wind heading home. ...There were no capsizes and everyone enjoyed the afternoon. The students saw the amazing bird life on the reserve and spotted a number of crabs looking to nibble on their toes. Unfortunately, the crabs were all undersize so were left in place. Overall, the rangers showed an excellent ability to control their canoes and everyone seemed to really enjoy the afternoon. Before the end of term, the rangers will be paddling again on the river and will head towards Pinjarra Road from Eacott Park and hopefully they can all master their craft just a little bit more. As always, the afternoon was finished with a cooked sausage in bread so everyone went home with a full stomach. The Bush Rangers are always looking for new members and if any student is interested, please pick up an enrolment form from the Administration Office or let one of the instructors know.
