25.01.2022 My first wedding with more than 50 guests since March. What an amazing feeling. Aaron & Chelsea were always going to push through with their day, regardless of what COVID restrictions threw at them, even if that meant only 5 people could be there. Those initial plans were thrown out the window when weddings were completely banned on their initial date. Instead of postponing another twelve months, they just postponed two months, hoping for the best. I admired their optimism. A...s many know, I also shared that same optimism. I trusted the system, and I knew we'd be OK. And here are wea couple of months on. We're more than OK; we've absolutely smashed it. For anyone who hasn't attended a wedding in Melbourne in the last couple of weeks and wondering what weddings feel like, now that we're on 'the other side'. I can tell you this; they feel & look the same as 'the before times'. Maybe with one exception. You can tell that everyone involved, the couple, the guests, the suppliers, the wait staff - are just that little bit more grateful. For everything we have, and everything we've achieved. And man, does it feel bloody good.

18.01.2022 I've had an absolute blast doing family photos over the last 6 weeks or so. I've photographed dozens of families in this time, with heaps of them being past couples of mine whose weddings I'd been a part of too. It's been pretty damn cool. Sorry I haven't shared that many of them online, I feel kind of weird posting photos of other peoples kids on my own social media. So all the ones I've posted are with permission from the parents. I'm forever thankful to every one of them,... for giving me a shot, despite me not having a folio of family work as prolific as my wedding work to show. Although weddings are 'back on' in Melbourne, remember that it's a slower burn for our industry. Weddings take time to plan, and heaps of early 2021 couples already postponed their weddings to 2022. Especially when things were looking bleak for Melbourne back in August and September. The postponements felt like they were hemorrhaging then. Who would have thought we'd be where we are now?! I've been super fortunate to pick up a bunch of smaller weddings early next year (are 'micro weddings' the new black?!) to fill the gaps of my couples who postponed to 2022. But being transparent, January is still really light on for me. So until the end of January, I'm still going to be taking on family portrait work. And I'd love to fill my calendar with heaps of awesome family shoots. Although I've loved it, from February onwards, I won't be taking on any more family portrait work for a while. Mainly because it means my wedding clients then will suffer from longer delivery times, less attention, etc. And I want to maintain the high standard of work and prompt service I always have in the past. So, if you're keen for some family photos between now and the end of Jan, jump on my website and book in a time with me. I can't wait to hang out with you and your little scallywags!

16.01.2022 I've only photographed a handful or so weddings since the end of March this year; since the 'The C Word' has dominated a huge part of all of our lives. The large majority of couples postponed their weddings. And even though weddings are 'back on' in Melbourne. It's still a slow burn for our industry. Because there's still a decent percentage of early 2021 couples that already postponed their weddings to 2022. I'm not bitter about that. It is what it is. But every couple who I... have photographed over the last 8 months, have all told me the same thing; Although their original plans didn't go to plan, their decision to push through regardless, ended up being exactly the right choice for them. Hashtag no regrets. So here's Leah & Ben, just this afternoon in Albert Park. Twenty or so guests. Maximum love. Today wasn't the wedding they originally planned, but it was just the wedding they needed.

05.01.2022 I should mention, even though weddings are back - I'm still doing family photos! Heaps of them actually, and I've been loving it. I did a few sessions this morning up in Olinda, and I'm back there this arvo to do even more. You beauty! Jump on my website to book in a time, I still have just a tiny little bit of weekend availability between now and Christmas. ... And if you do a shoot with me, before Christmas. I promise you'll have all of your completed photos back before then, to print and give to the grandparents or anyone you like as a gift. Everyone wins. See more

01.01.2022 I've been busy all day playing music with my old friends in my garage, it was amazing. Just like the good old days. We had so much to do, and catch up on, that I didn't check my phone, social media or the news all day. Then I had dinner with my family, got the kids to bed, opened my laptop, only to realise; Weddings in Melbourne now have no cap, facemasks are not required and dance floors are officially given the A fucking OK. Holy shit. How good is this?!... So stoked to be a Melbournian right now.
