25.01.2022 "As I walked around the gallery looking at all the artworks, I was really struck by how the river means so many different things to so many different people. In a week where people’s differences were dividing nations, it felt good to be in a room where differences - different art forms, different cultures, different experiences and values of the river - were bringing us together. Differing perspectives, considered respectfully, can be really crucial to identifying and bringin...g about change that is needed. This is our approach at the Cooks River Alliance to improve river health. Our Alliance of four councils - Bayside, Canterbury Bankstown, Inner West and Strathfield - is bringing together stakeholders across the catchment to develop a whole of river plan through the Cooks River Catchment Coastal Management Program. We’re currently working with representatives across local councils, state government agencies, big industries and community groups to develop a coordinated long-term strategy and program of actions that continue to move us towards a healthier Cooks River for present and future generations to enjoy - in many different ways." Reflections from the Cooks River Alliance Chair Clr Maryanne Duggan at the GreenWay Art Prize Awards this time last week. You can catch the exhibition in its final days @ Art Est. Art School until this Sunday. To learn more about the Cooks River Catchment Coastal Management Program visit cooksriver.org.au/cmp The Cooks River Alliance was proud to continue its support for the GreenWay Art Prize this year together with our member council Inner West Council. Congratulations to all the winners and exhibiting artists!
