18.01.2022 Consultation with families and educators on disability in ECEC As part of the 2020 Review of the Disability Standards for Education, the Australian Government is looking at how well the Disability Discrimination Act 1992 (DDA) is known, understood and applied in early childhood education and care. We want to hear about the experiences of children with disability and their parents in accessing and participating in early childhood education and care, as well as the experience of educators. Please direct parents and educators to the dedicated early childhood education and care section of the Reviews Consultation Hub where they will find an early childhood education and care discussion paper and a questionnaire. They can also register to participate in a webinar at 4.30 pm 6 pm (AEST) on Thursday 27 August 2020.

12.01.2022 A lot of excitement for a few weeks as the council fixes the curb and guttering. All the children have been very interested to see all the different trucks coming and going. Todays instalment was a cement truck!

11.01.2022 I would just like to put this out there. If your children are not around special needs children at school, and have never been taught that not everyone is the same, then maybe you could take 10 minutes tonight to explain this to them. Because even though they may not be around these children at school, they will encounter them in their lives, as it should be. In the light of recent events on the exclusion of a child who has autism from participating in a school trip, and a ch...ild with Down Syndrome being kicked out of dance class because she couldnt keep up, I feel the need to share this. There are boys and girls that nobody invites to birthday parties. There are special kids who want to belong to a team but dont get selected because it is more important to win than to include these children. Children with special needs are not rare or strange; they only want what everyone else wantsto be accepted !! For all the wonderful children out there. Can I ask a question? Is there anyone willing to copy and paste this post to their wall without sharing it, like I did for those special children out there? Please teach your children to be kind to these beautiful children!

A big big thank you to everyone who contributed- Cooloon staff and management committee, parents who volunteered today and donated raffles as well as our great community who donated raffles - over 80 today, the cupcake and brownie makers as well. To those families and children who came and joined in the fun as well as our tireless entertainers and activity providers! We welcome any feedback - by way of this page or to us direct. You all make a great day for young children in our community. See you at next years Kids Fest!!
