The event is free for members and their partners with a $10 cover charge for all others ie friends etc. The event will kick off with a snacks and drinks and continue into an open-mic session and group sing-a-long. The club will go into recess over the summer break and our first club night will then be 27th January 2020 ie the fourth Monday of January. Club night attendences have really picked up again with the warmer nights so come along and enjoy the last couple of November club nights before the Christmas party and shut-down.

21.01.2022 CORONA VIRUS UPDATE After discussions with Kirra Hill management we have postponed our next meetings to the 11th and 25th May. We will be using the Great Hall to maintain "social distancing". Kirra Hill is providing this room at the same rental as our normal room ie for no additional cost during the Stage 1 restrictions.... A big thank you to Kirra Hill management. Thea & I will keep you updated over the next few weeks.

20.01.2022 The club celebrated the end of our year for the Christmas break with our annual breakup party on Saturday night. After a feast and a few drinks we had an entertaining open mike session followed by a group singalong. The committee wishes all our members and their families a Very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. See you all again when we reconvene for our first meeting on Monday 11th February.

20.01.2022 CLUB RELAUNCHES We are restarting our fortnightly meetings from Monday 27th July. There are a few changes due to the social distancing required due the Covid pandemic. These include:... 1) We will be relocating into the Great Hall 2) Starting time will be 7pm with a 9pm finish 3) Meet at 6:45 pm at the lift for hand sanitising and sign-in 4) We are responsible for sanitising the room hence 6:45pm 5) we will be limited to a maximum of 40 members in the room Thea will be sending all members and e-mail to explain the new capacity limits. The Club will be waiving 2020-21 membership dues for all current financial members in line with other clubs. Members should bring their music stands and sheet music as the projected music may be difficult to read if you are seated at the back of the room. Hope to see you all on the 27th July. Ian Lockhart

20.01.2022 AGM The Club held our AGM on Monday night with pizza followed by the AGM and then walk-up performances from members. The highlight of the evening was our President Brian Britton presenting a representative of Paradise Kids with a donation cheque for $1 000. Brian thanked past Secretary Pam Watkins for her contributions to the club as she stood down from her position. Thea Sheppard stepped in to take her place as Secretary as well as the position of Music Librarian. The Club ...also welcomed Des Williams our past President back onto the Committe as club Vice-President. Ian Lockhart remains as Treasurer. Our general Committee members Curly, Victoria, Nancy, Rocket and Lindell also renominated. The Club looks forward to another successful year and invites everybody out there to join us at our Club nights each second and forth Monday at the Kirra Community Centre from 6:30pm Qld time.

19.01.2022 A group of our members attended the 3 day Sunshine Coast Ukulele Festival at Kenilworth over the weekend. Apart from the main stages, groups performed at other venues around town including our ladies who played at the Kenilworth Hotel. Our next road trip will be to the Grafton uke festival.

19.01.2022 Here is an inspirational publication for all you budding guitarists

17.01.2022 We welcome people of all ages and abilities from expert to novice. Come along and join us each second Moday from 6:30PM (Qld time) at the Kirra Hill Community Centre.

16.01.2022 Another upload of photos showing some of our performances over the years. We get around!

16.01.2022 Our performance group put on a great show on Wednesday morning for Corroboree Asia at the Gold Coast Convention Centre. This is just one of the gigs we perform through the year at shopping centres, Coolie Rocks etc.

15.01.2022 MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL We finished off our year with a Xmas performance at The Strand on Sunday. We drew an appreciative crowd and belted out a few Christmas carols along with a few old favourites. Later in the day there was a Rainbow Bay "surfing Santa" paddle out that really sums up the Gold Coast Christmas vibe.... So Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to all members and their families and we will see you all next year!

13.01.2022 Hi everybody. Well the Christmas / New Year holidays are all finished for the year and it is time to kick-off a another year of Uke. Our club nights commence again on Monday 11th February at the Kirra Hill Community Centre starting at 6:30pm Qld time. Apart from the old classics we have added a lot of new songs to our song library so come along and join in the fun. See you all on Monday night.

13.01.2022 Great to welcome back some of our overseas travellers. Des, Pauline, Pat, John & Rocket are all back from their annual surfing and shopping expedition to Hawaii and report great waves & weather despite the hurricane just before they left. Ross is still surfing in California while Curly is treking in Turkey. Also home are Thea & Brian who have been cycling in Europe. Next off the airport rank is Lockie who is off to Bali in a couple of weeks. It's sort of ironic that we live on some of the best beaches in the world but all seem to travel OS to the beach for our holidays. Keep on strumming!

10.01.2022 These are a few more photos just in from Wednesday's Corroboree Asia event.

08.01.2022 A group of our players will be supporting the "A Voice for Vienna" fundraising trivia night on Saurday 20th October at the Tugun Progress Hall. Starting at 6:30pm the event is Hawaiian themed including hula dancers as well as our players. The event promises to be a lot of fun as well as supporting a great cause. Please share this post and pass on the attached information to your friends and family.

07.01.2022 Hi Cilla Wills from the Redland City Ukuleles group. Yes it would be nice for the two groups to meet at some stage. Possibly you should send an email to Pam Watkins (Secretary) or Nancy Britton (care of our President) at our contact email address (see our home page) and I will pass it along. Best wishes from the Coolangatta Ukulele Players.

06.01.2022 We are proud and excited that the organising committee of Cooly Rocks On has invited us to perform in the activation space under The Beachhouse resort on Sunday. The time is provisionally 12 noon. What is exciting is that this space incorporates a dance floor so we should have an active audience of both dancers and listeners. We must have a good performance reputation as previously we have only performed on the outlying stage at Kirra Beach. All our members will be tuning up their ukes and practising their vocals so we invite all our supporters to turn up on the day to add to the atmosphere of the event.

05.01.2022 Hi everybody and welcome to our new Facebook page. Apart from our club nights we often perform gigs around the Gold Coast. We particularly like to welcome uke players from other parts of Australia and from overseas who are holidaying on the beautiful beaches of the Gold Coast and Far Northern NSW. We meet at 6:30pm Qld time each second and fourth Monday at the Kirra Hill Community Centre (near the big sea eagle monument overlooking Kirra Point). Cost is $4 per night and $10 annual membership.

05.01.2022 ROOM UPDATE Unfortunately the arrangement to hold our meeting in the Great Room at no extra cost has been rescinded by Kirra Hill management. The meetings will now be held in our old Arts Room but with an attendance cap of 20. Start time remains as 7pm with assembly from 6:45pm to complete registrations and room sanitising.... Thea will be sending out an e-mail to members with further information. Regards Ian Lockhart

04.01.2022 We kicked off the year with a full turnout of 40+ members. A great time was had by all!

03.01.2022 AGM NOTICE The club will be holding our AGM on Monday 8th July. We will be starting at 6pm with pizzas in the outdoor shelter. If arriving early please respect the yoga class and other community centre users by staying close to the shelter and minimising noise. The AGM will start at 6.30pm in our usual room. All committeee positions will be open for nominations so this is your chance to influence the direction of the club over the next 12 months.... We also hope to have representaives from Paradise Kids present so we can present them with a donation cheque of $1000. See you all there Ian.

02.01.2022 We will be performing a Christmas carol set at The Strand in Coolangatta on Sunday morning at 11am Qld time. We will be situated at the Marine Parade (surfside) front entry near the escalators. Please be there at 10:30am to tune up and set up. See you all there in your uniforms for what is always a very successful and joyous occasion.

01.01.2022 CORONA VIRUS UPDATE Hi all. Unfortunately we cannot open up again as we had hoped to do in May. Kirra Hill have confirmed that the centre is currently closed and has no date as to when they may reopen. I will keep you up to date as more information becomes available. In the meantime stay safe and enjoy our glorious autumn sunshine.... Ian

01.01.2022 Corona Virus (Covid-19) Unfortunately the inevitable has happened after being informed that the government's 4sq m per person social distancing requirements will be implemented at our Kirra Hill meeting rooms. The Committee has taken the difficult decision to cancel our next meeting on Monday 23rd March 2020 and to suspend our activities until a date to be determined. Club members will receive e-mails from Thea to provide you with ongoing updates.... Most importantly the Committee wishes all of our members, their families as well as our visitors and the general community good health during these difficult times. On a positive note it will be a good excuse to bang away and practice at home!
